On the Grow

Yes, I'm pulling out some sets from the Summer Mini that haven't seen any love for a while! Here is another set, On the Grow, that didn't make it into the big catalog! I've used the jar of flowers A LOT! I'll be sad to see it go!

Today is a color combination on Create with Connie and Mary, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Basic Black. I absolutely LOVE all the samples the Design Team did this week…so make sure you check them out! I love how the black makes these colors POP!

I started with a base of Daffodil Delight, then layered on the green dot pattern from Nursery Nest Designer Paper…same as I used on yesterday's card. Hey…it was already out and on my desk! That is layered on Basic Black. Across the front, I put a strip of Old Olive cardstock, stamping Thinking of You from Stampin' Up!'s On the Grow stamp set. I stamped the jar of flowers from On the Grow with Black Stazon on Whisper White and watercolored with my AquaPainter and markers. I punched it out with the 2 1/2" Circle, then layered it on a 2 5/8" circle of Basic Black cardstock cut with the Circle Scissors. I love that I can get any size circle I want with that tool! Want to hear a GREAT tip for using it? One of the hardest things is keeping your paper stationary while you cut. If you apply a THIN coat of the green Tombow Multipurpose glue to the center of the glass mat, let it dry, it acts as a temporary hold for your pieces of cardstock! Apply about a 6" square of glue…it works perfectly every time!

Finally, I wrapped some Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon around the Old Olive and tied a knot. I also added three TINY pearls under the greeting.

Nice and bright On the Grow!

Wow! Mary and I have been brainstorming this weekend and we have a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT over on Create with Connie and Mary! Make sure you check it out…we are SO excited! lol…that's all I'm saying here! And…don't forget…this is the LAST week of the Early Bird Savings!

I love the colors in this card…they are so nice and bright and SUMMERY looking! We had a rainy start to Mother's Day here, but the day turned sunny and nice! I got to speak to both my boys and see one…so it was a good day! Plus spent the day visiting with my mom and my hubby's mom. We are blessed they are still with us! On the Grow is one of the stamp sets we are featuring during the Preview Weeks on Create with Connie and Mary!

So, I started with a base card of Pumpkin Pie. I layered on Daffodil Delight that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Elegant Lines Impressions Folder. I used some scraps of the Simply Scrappin' Kit, Playful Polka Dots, for the strips of Designer Paper on the front. I cut the large oval from the Ovals Die from Whisper White. I used Mary's trick of the Petal Cone Die scallops to clip and place around the oval! I love having a Stampin' Up! scallop oval that fits behind the large oval!

I stamped Stampin' Up!'s On the Grow image on the oval with Black Stazon and watercolored with my AquaPainter and Stampin' Write Markers in the colors of Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Rose Red. I added three pearls to the top of the oval and the Thinking of You greeting with Black Stazon Ink.

AND…it is ALSO the start of the Summer Mini Catalog! I know I have customers who have been trying to order from it for the past couple weeks…now you CAN!!! May is going to be a SHORT month for me because of the Alaska Cruise…so make sure to get with my EARLY this month with your orders!

Now…my card! I know! You probably think the only set I purchased from the Summer Mini is the On the Grow stamp set! Really….I did buy LOTS more! I did make this card several weeks ago for my Control Freak Swaps. When I saw this set, the jar of flowers REALLY reminds my of my hydrangeas that bloom all summer. Yes…ALL summer! We have neighbors and cars stopping all the time when we are outside asking what we do to make our hydrangeas so blue. And by "we", I mean my hubby! lol! He feeds them all the time!

I started with the base of Marina Mist cardstock. I layered on Very Vanilla cardstock that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Impressinos Folder. I added the 1 1/4 Marina Mist Striped Ribbon (I do have SHARES for this ribbon going on!) AND added some of the Cherry Cobbler with White Bakers Twine tied in a bow.

I used the Scallop Duo Die to cut the larger scallop square from Poppy Parade cardstock. I love the pop of color it gives to this card. I stamped on Very Vanilla with Black Stazon Ink, then used Marina Mist, Old Olive and Poppy Parade Stampin' Write Markers with the AquaPainter to watercolor the jar of flowers. Oh…I used a little Sahara Sand for the ground. I stamped Thinking of You with Black Stazon. That greeting stamp is in the set, too. I love it when Stampin' Up! includes greetings we can use for every day!

I was really happy with this card. I hope my fellow Control Freak Swappers liked it, too!

Stamping 411 – On the Grow

Yes, I am loving this new stamp set in the Summer Mini, On the Grow! I've used it again today for the Stamping 411 sketch challenge SSC201! We are SO happy that you enjoyed our little "game" last week! We had fun playing along ourselves!

And here is my card…I knew immediately that I would use Stampin' Up!'s On the Grow set and that the scooter would fit perfectly in the focal element spot!

I started with a base of Real Red cardstock. I layered on Bashful Blue that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Impressions Folder. I took my colors from the Celebrations Designer Paper…I love this polka dot pattern! I layered the DSP on Pacific Point cardstock. I stamped the scooter in Black Stazon on Whisper White and used my Stampin' Write Markers in Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Pearl Pizzazz, Basic Black and Bashful Blue, plus used the AquaPainter to watercolor it. I layered the Whisper White on more Pacific Point. I wrapped two lengths of 1/8" Real Red Taffeta Ribbon around to the back and adhered. I added an Old Olive button, tied with more 1/8" Real Red Taffeta Ribbon and adhered with Mini Glue Dots.

Finally, I stamped Celebrate from Fundamental Phrases in Black Stazon on Real Red and punched with the Curly Label Punch, cut it in half and placed it under the scooter focal piece. I think it is a fun card!

CCMC148 – On the Grow

Another Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge! Today we have a fun color challenge for you…pretty soft colors for Spring! So, get your stamps and supplies and play along with us this week! Upload your creation over on Create with Connie and Mary so we can take a look…we love to see what you create!

I loved this color combo…I don't know if I have ever used the three of them together before. Perfect Plum doesn't get a lot of use in my house for some reason! But, my card came together very easily!

Stampin' Up!'s On the Grow in the Summer Mini, was one of the first stamp sets that jumped into my shopping cart! I even selected it to do my Control Freaks Swaps. I love this jar of flowers and have used it several times already. Need to get the scooter out and color on it, too!

The base of my card is Perfect Plum. I added a layer of So Saffron that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Framed Tulip Impressions Folder. At the bottom, I used the polka dot pattern from Woodland Walk Designer Paper package. To hide the seam, I wanted some ribbon, but we don't carry a Perfect Plum color. So, I used my Perfect Plum Stampin' Write Marker and the Whisper White Organza Stripe Ribbon and colored it Perfect Plum! I laid down a strip of Sticky Strip, then ruffled the ribbon along the tape, adhering to the back.

I stamped the jar of flowers from Stampin' Up!'s On the Grow stamp set in Black Stazon on Whisper White and used my Perfect Plum, So Saffron and Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write Markers and AquaPainter to watercolor it. Love how soft it looks. The jar looked kind of "flat", so I added Crystal Effects to give it a glassy look. FUN! Oh, I also used just a little bit of Sahara Sand marker to color the "ground". I punched the image with the 2 1/2 Circle Punch, then added to a 2 3/4" circle cut with the Circle Scissors Plus Tool. It was placed on the front of the So Saffron panel with Stampin' Dimensionals. Since I punched it off center, I decided to add a Vintage Brad to the left edge of the circle…just a little added interest!

Finally, I stamped "Thinking of You" from On the Grow in Perfect Plum and added three little pearls in the lower left corner to balance it out. I'm happy with how it turned out!
