CS197 – Sunrise Sailing

It’s a new month and for the month of June we are featuring “masks”.  There are SO many different ways to mask!

SUNRISE SAILING

Here’s a second type of masking that I called Reverse Masking.  Place the mask shape down and then brush the ink around the edges.  I also did a third type of masking…torn edge…on this card.  It’s similar to my straight edge card from last week but uses a torn edge!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Misty Moonlight cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • I punched a 2″ circle from scrap paper and laid it on top of the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Cloud Cover cardstock towards the left side.  I used a Blending Brush to add Cloud Cover Ink around the edges…brushing from inside the mask circle to the outside.
  • The greeting was stamped with Misty Moonlight Ink in the upper right corner.
  • I tore a piece of copy paper across the top and placed it above the area I wanted to make the waves.  I used a Blending Brush to add the Cloud Cover Ink across the bottom, then stamped the long waves image with Cloud Cover Ink over top, tone-on-tone.
  • The sailboat was stamped with Misty Moonlight ink on Basic White cardstock and the stripes with Cloud Cover Ink.  It was cut with the Die and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The boat hull was colored with Cloud Cover Stampin’ Blends.
  •  The cloud was cut from Basic White cardstock with the Die and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

IM386 – Sunrise Sailing

Welcome to our Create with Stamping Friends Inspiration Monday challenges.  This week’s inspiration is a sailboat regatta!  Those are fun to watch!

SUNRISE SAILING

Yep…just had to use my Sunrise Sailing Bundle on this challenge!  But, instead of coloring, I used strips of cardstock!   See how I did it below!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Cloud Cover cardstock was brushed with Secret Sea Ink using the Blending Brush lightly in the background.
  • Three strips of “water” were cut from Secret Sea cardstock with the Sunrise Sailing wave dies and added to the bottom of the Cloud Cover layer, then trimmed off the sides.
  • The large and small clouds were cut from Basic White cardstock and the larger one stamped with the greeting from Sunrise Sailing stamp set using Secret Sea Ink.  They were added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Strips of Coastal Cabana, Soft Sea Foam and Flirty Flamingo cardstocks were cut in different widths and adhered to a Basic White cardstock square larger than the boat.  The sailboat was stamped with Secret Sea Ink over them and then cut with the Sunrise Sailboat Die.

  • A second large boat was stamped on Cloud Cover cardstock and the space between the sails cut out and adhered over the colored cardstock.
  • The outline of the boat hull was colored with Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends.
  • The same technique was repeated using Lemon Lolly, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red and Azure Afternoon cardstock strips and cut with the medium sailboat sails, then mounted on Basic White cardstock sailboat base and the hull colored with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends.
  • The smallest sailboat was cut from Basic White cardstock.
  • All were assembled on the waves with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

It’s a new month and a new theme for our Creatively Simple challenge!

SUNRISE SAILING

I thought doing a watercolor water and sky background would be pretty simple, don’t you?  LOVE this Sunrise Sailing Bundle.  My husband just recently announced his retirement in July, so made this card for him!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Real Red cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock was watercolored with Lost Lagoon refill ink for the bottom and Pool Party refill ink for the top using a Water Painter.
  • The waves were stamped with Lost Lagoon Ink on the bottom portion.
  • The sailboat from Sunrise Sailing outline was stamped with Memento Black ink on scrap Basic White cardstock and the hull and sail stripes with Real Red Ink.  It was cut with the sailboat die and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The “sun” was 1-1/2 circle punched from Daffodil Delight cardstock and added to the top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Happy Retirement from Sunrise Sailing was stamped with Memento Black on 1/2 x 3-1/2 Pool Party and added across the sun.
  • The birds were stamped with Memento Black Ink.
  • A trio of dark Shades of Green Hexagons were added to the background water.
