Creatively Simple 49 – Sweet Songbird

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “MONOCHROMATIC CARDS”, and we each create a simple card every Tuesday in August using that theme!

Very simple card today using the Sweet Songbird stamp set and Balmy Blue color!

SWEET SONGBIRD

Stampin’ Details:

Base is 4 1/4 x 11 Balmy Blue folded.
Basic White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4
Stamp greeting and notes in Balmy Blue
Run through Leaf Fall Embossing Folder
Balmy Blue – cut out circle using Stylish Shapes dies
Basic White – stamp bird, etc. in Balmy Blue punch out, stamp eyes in Versamark, white embossed
Add Fine Sparkle Adhesive Backed Gems

Happy Monday and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!

It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenge! Aren’t these bird cookies just TOO darling for words? I sure wish I could decorate cookies like that! Wouldn’t they be a fun birthday treat?

SWEET SONGBIRDS

Well, Sweet Songbirds was obviously the stamp set to use for today’s challenge! Made it pretty easy! Next, I saw a card done by Laura Milligan that inspired MY card. I changed it up to make it my own, but I love the rectangle background die she used!

Stampin’ Details:

- The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
- The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Smoky Slate cardstock was cut with the Picture This rectangle Die and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. (Save those rectangles for another project!)
- The large bird from Sweet Songbirds was stamped with So Saffron Ink, the eyes with Memento Black, and the wing with Smoky Slate Ink on Basic White cardstock, then punched with the Songbird Builder Punch.
- The small bird from Sweet Songbirds was stamped with Smoky Slate Ink, the eyes with Memento Black, and the wing with So Saffron Ink on Basic White cardstock and hand-cut.
- The two beaks were punched from Mango Melody cardstock with the punch and adhered.
- The nest was stamped with Crumb Cake Ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and hand-cut. The tree branch was stamped with Crumb Cake and the leaves with Old Olive Ink on Basic White cardstock and hand-cut, then added to the front.
- The greetings and notes were stamped with Memento Black Ink in the rectangle openings.
- A trio of Polished Dots were added to the background.

SO, it’s my day to celebrate and I’m SOOO happy with how this card turned out! I have to remember to use this background die more often! OK…check out what Mary did with the Inspiration Monday Challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary!

It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. This week is a pretty color combination! I can’t tell you how much I LOVE the new In Colors!

SWEET SONGBIRDS

Birds can be ALL colors, right? So, I figured so could their nest! I did add just a HINT of green to ground the images a little to make sense. lol!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Daffodil Delight cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Tahitian Tide cardstock was embossed with the Into the Clouds Embossing Folder, then added to the front.
A 3 x 4 piece of Design A Daydream DSP was added to a 3-1/4 x 4-1/4 piece of Starry Sky cardstock, then added to the front.
With the Sweet Songbirds stamp set, the nest was stamped with Starry Sky, the leaves with Parakeet Party, the larger bird with Tahitian Tide and the smaller bird with Daffodil Delight Inks on Basic White cardstock. The large bird was punched with the Bird Builder Punch and the rest were hand-cut.
The wings and beaks were punched from Tahitian Tide and Daffodil Delight cardstocks and added to the birds.
The eyes were stamped with Memento Black Ink. They were assembled and added to the nest with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The wood sign background was stamped OFF Tahitian Tide Ink and the greeting with Starry Sky Ink on Basic White. It was hand cut and added to a 1/8 x 2 strip of Starry Sky cardstock and added with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
Finally, a yellow Fun Flower Resin Shaped flower was added to the trio of leaves.

Saturday Blog Hop – Nature

This week’s Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is all about Nature…trees, flowers, ocean, scenery, etc.! We could go SO many different ways with this! My first inclination was flowers, but then I pulled out my new Sweet Songbirds stamp set…because it is just TOO CUTE!

SWEET SONGBIRDS

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Sweet Sorbet cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 3 x 5-1/2 piece of Basic White cardstsock was stamped with the tree limb in Early Espresso, the leaves with Parakeet Party, the notes with Orchid Oasis Inks, then added centered to the front.
The smaller songbird was stamped with Sweet Sorbet Ink, the belly and wings with Flirty Flamingo Ink, the beak with Mango Melody Ink and the eyes and feet with Early Espresso Ink. They were hand-cut and added to the tree limb with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A 1-1/2 x 4-1/4 piece of Tea Boutique DSP was added across the front.
A 1/4 x 4-1/4 strip of Sweet Sorbet cardstock was added to the DSP.
The greeting from Sweet Songbirds was stamped with Early Espresso Ink on 1/2 x 2-1/2 piece of Parakeet Party cardstock, the end cut at an angle, and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Two In Color Matte Dots were added above the greeting.
