Creatively Simple 45 – Heron Habitat

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “THINGS THAT FLY”, and we each create a simple card every Tuesday using that theme!

Again this week just a little bit of stamping…the dies mainly do the heavy work! AND, I already had the heron all stamped, colored and cut, so just had to add him at the last minute! lol!

HERON HABITAT

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Balmy Blue cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White is added on top.
The sun was cut from Daffodil Delight cardstock with the Stylish Shapes circle die and adhered to the front.
The water was cut with the Heron Die from Balmy Blue cardstock and added over the bottom of the sun.
The grasses were cut with the Heron Die from Gray Granite cardstock and added to the front.
The heron was stamped with Basic Gray Ink and colored with the Light Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends. It was cut with the Heron Die and added to the sun with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The greeting from Heron Habitat was stamped with Basic Gray Ink in the background.
Three Fine Sparkle Gems were added to the background.

Saturday Blog Hop – “Two Black Cadillacs”

This month our Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hops will feature songs with colors in them! This week’s song is “Two Black Cadillacs” by Carrie Underwood. We needed to use Black with a new In Color as a pop of color! I grabbed my Heron Habitat stamp set again for today’s card.

HERON HABITAT

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Basic Black cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Parakeet Party cardstock was added on top.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock was cut with the Deckled Rectangle Dies and added to the front.
The cat-tails and a few grasses were cut from Basic Black with the Heron Dies. The large grass clump was cut from Parakeet Party cardstock with the Heron Dies. All were assembled in the bottom left corner and adhered.
The flying heron and greeting were stamped with Memento Black Ink, then cut with the Heron Dies. The heron was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some 1/8 Metallic Parakeet Party Ribbon was looped a couple times and added to the top corner with a Stampin’ Dimensional. The greeting label was added on top with a couple Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Even with the bright color, this card just seems so peaceful to me! And I LOVE this color combo! Saturday Blog Hop – “Blue Bird”

This month our Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hops will feature songs with colors in them! This week’s song is “Blue Bird” by Miranda Lambert. And I’m giving BONUS points if they actually used a bird on their card (but I didn’t tell them that)!

I pulled out my Heron Habitat Bundle to use. At our Florida house, we live by the White Heron Golf Course, named for the birds in the area, but I’ve seen blue and even PINK ones there.

HERON HABITAT

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Orchid Oasis cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White is added on top.
A 2 x 4 piece of Orchid Oasis In Color Designer Paper was added across the front.
The Fabulous Frame was cut from Starry Sky with the Die, and then cut again from Watercolor Paper. I used the inside of the frame and watercolored Balmy Blue Reinker for the top and Crumb Cake Reinker for the bottom. (I know…strange that the Balmy Blue color changed so much!)
The birds in the background were stamped with Starry Sky Ink.
The seagrass was cut from Crumb Cake cardstock with the Heron Dies and added inside the frame.
The blue heron was stamped with Basic Gray Ink, then colored with Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends, then colored over with Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends to mute the colors a little. Dark Pumpkin Pie was used for the beak. It was cut with the Heron Dies and added to the frame with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Enjoy Your Day from Heron Habitat was stamped with Starry Sky Ink on a 1/2 x 2 piece of Orchid Oasis cardstock and added to the front with a Dimensional.
Some Faux Sea Glass Shapes were added to the ground.
