Ahhh, Thanksgiving is over! We had a housefull…12 adults and 2 babies…but what a blast! LOTS of great food and thankful that everyone pitches in and brings something! Here’s a cute picture of two of the grands, my youngest son’s kids. Wish it turned out a little better and not so grainy. My brother and I are about the same age apart as Quinn and Brody are…and I’m sure I remember a similar picture of the two of us together with me almost strangling him around the neck, too! lol!

But, it’s time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! This week’s theme is “Homespun Christmas”. I love the traditional look of pines and pine cones, so that is what I chose to represent my homespun Christmas. The plaids in the Warmth & Cheer Designer Paper Pack work perfectly!

Here are the details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Crumb Cake cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock.
A 3-3/4 x 5 piece of Warmth & Cheer Designer Paper selected, then a 1-1/4 piece cut off one end and flipped to the reverse side, then adhered to the front of the Whisper White cardstock.
Gold Bakers Twine was wrapped around 3 times to hide the seam.
The label from Christmas Pines was stamped with Cherry Cobbler on Crumb Cake cardstock and the Christmas Blessings greeting with Chocolate Chip inside, then hand-cut.
The pine branches were cut from Old Olive cardstock, the mistletoe from Whisper White and the pine cones from Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip cardstocks and adhered together on the front.
A bow was cut from Gold Glimmer Paper and added to the top of the pine cones.

Ornamental Pine 3

Hard to believe that I almost didn’t buy this Stampin’ Up! set, Ornamental Pine. I have an older pine branch set that I’ve used off and on, but I really love the greetings in this set. I also have to admit that I’m a little tired of making Christmas cards. Feels like I’ve been making up samples for my blog and to share for months (and I have!). So…I think this will be my last one of the season. I know I’ll be excited again next year when the season rolls around! lol! Plus…I have all my new Occasions goodies waiting for me to play with them. I made myself a promise that if I put a big dent in my Christmas wrapping today, I’d allow myself to play a little tomorrow! lol!

This card is one of those that looks SOOOO much prettier in person! The embossed white branch, colored with Blendabilities and the sparkle of Silver Glimmer around the greeting, plus the base of Whisper White…it just pops! My camera battery was dying or else I’d try to re-photograph this on black to see if it showed up better. Oh well! Make one for yourself and you’ll see! lol!

The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Whisper White, folded in half.
The 4 x 5 1/4 Night of Navy layer I rounded the corners with the Project Life Corner Rounder.
I embossed the pine branch with White Embossing Powder and colored the needles with the Old Olive Blendabilities Markers. The branch I used the Crumb Cake Blendabilities.
I stamped the pine cone with Early Espresso on Chocolate Chip cardstock, added the White Gel Pen snow and cut it out, then placed on front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added some snow flurries with the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. I’ve really used that a LOT this winter on cards!
The greeting was stamped with Night of Navy on Whisper White and cut with the Circle Framelits. I layered it on another Circle of Silver Glimmer Paper, then popped it up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

CCMC329 Ornamental Pine

It’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge and it is a really fun sketch this time! I admit, I took a little creative license with mine…mainly because I had these pieces sitting on my desk and wanted to use them! But…it is close!

And here’s my card:

You can see that I added another panel in the background with the pine branch stamped on it and narrowed my strips of Champagne Glimmer Paper along the side so that it fit my image a little bit better. Here are the details:

The base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Mossy Meadow, folded in half.
I added the Under The Tree Specialty Designer Paper cut at a diagonal across the bottom.
The pine branch was inked with Mossy Meadow and a Chocolate Chip marker used on the stem and stamped on Crumb Cake cardstock. I stamped the pine cone with Chocolate Chip ink on Soft Suede and cut it out, then used the White Gel Pen to highlight the snow.
I used Gorgeous Grunge and White Craft Ink for the falling snow flurries over the pine branch, then added the panel to the front of the card.
I cut two small strips of Champagne Glimmer Paper and placed along the left side as per the sketch.
The greeting was stamped with Chocolate Chip on Crumb Cake and punched with the 2″ Circle Punch. I sponged around the edges with White Craft Ink and then popped it up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finally, I cut a small piece of Cherry Cobbler 1″ Ribbon and tied it with Linen Thread in a bow, then placed it on the front with Mini Glue Dots.
