CS114 – Rustic Crate

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Mary and I will pick a theme for our simple cards. This month the theme is “Tis the Season” cards! We are getting closer and closer to Christmas time! So glad I already have my cards done!

RUSTIC CRATE

I combined the poinsettias from the Rustic Crate stamp set with the greeting from So Very Merry! I love greetings that work inside circles!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Basic White, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Garden Green cardstock is embossed with the Christmas Tidings Embossing Folder and added to the front.
A 2-3/8 circle was punched from Pool Party cardstock and stamped with Very Merry from So Very Merry Stamp Set in Memento Black Ink.
The poinsettias were stamped with Memento Black Ink and colored with Poppy Parade, Real Red, Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends, then cut with the Rustic Crate Dies and added to the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The circle was dded to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some which Iridescent Ribbon was tied in a bow and added next to the circle.

Wishes All Aglow

Hope you all had a good holiday weekend! I certainly didn’t get done as much as I wanted. Yesterday sidelined me with a headache most of the day. But today I wanted to show the card that I did for a recent Control Freaks Swap. Nice for a M&T or Christmas card, I think…not too complicated and uses a fun set, Wishes All Aglow in the new Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog!

Here are the details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Garden Green, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The top 2/3s of the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Crumb Cake was embossed with the new Quilt Top Embossing Folder.
A 1 x 4 strip of Quilted Christmas Designer Paper was placed across the front and some new Mini Tinsel Trim was wrapped around and tied with a knot.
The “light” tree from Wishes All Aglow was inked up with Garden Green. Then a Blender Pen was used to remove the color for the light bulbs, then ink with a Real Red Marker and stamped on Whisper White cardstock.
The tree was cut with the largest Stitched Oval Framelit and placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finally, the greeting from Wishes All Aglow was stamped under the Designer Paper with Real Red Ink.

Isn’t that a fun card? Love the touch of whimsy!

SUOC163 Tin of Tags

On a personal note: Prayer warriors…please say a prayer for my dad, Jerry, today as he undergoes open heart bypass surgery. Pray for the skill of the physicians and the staff caring for him and for his recovery and continued health! Thank you!

The theme this time on SUO Challenges is Holiday Elegance! Oh so many ways you could go with this theme! I chose to continue with my love of embossing and picked the snowflake from Tin of Tags as the focal images on my card! It is SO pretty in real life!

Here are the details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded in half.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Silver Glimmer Paper. (To save this beautiful paper, I did cut a big rectangle out of the center!)
The 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Whisper White cardstock has been randomly stamped with the Snowflake from Tin of Tags stamp set with Versamark Ink, then embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.
Joy to the Word from the same Tin of Tags stamp set is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Whisper White and cut with the circle Stitched Shape Framelit. Then layered on the Layering Scallop Circle Framelit cut from Silver Metallic Cardstock.

As I said, lots of shimmer and shine on this card…which truly represents Holiday Elegance for me! Check out what the others on the SUO Challenge Design Team came up with this time! I’m sure there will be some BEAUTIFUL cards as this group is SO talented!

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Homespun Christmas

Ahhh, Thanksgiving is over! We had a housefull…12 adults and 2 babies…but what a blast! LOTS of great food and thankful that everyone pitches in and brings something! Here’s a cute picture of two of the grands, my youngest son’s kids. Wish it turned out a little better and not so grainy. My brother and I are about the same age apart as Quinn and Brody are…and I’m sure I remember a similar picture of the two of us together with me almost strangling him around the neck, too! lol!

But, it’s time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! This week’s theme is “Homespun Christmas”. I love the traditional look of pines and pine cones, so that is what I chose to represent my homespun Christmas. The plaids in the Warmth & Cheer Designer Paper Pack work perfectly!

Here are the details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Crumb Cake cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock.
A 3-3/4 x 5 piece of Warmth & Cheer Designer Paper selected, then a 1-1/4 piece cut off one end and flipped to the reverse side, then adhered to the front of the Whisper White cardstock.
Gold Bakers Twine was wrapped around 3 times to hide the seam.
The label from Christmas Pines was stamped with Cherry Cobbler on Crumb Cake cardstock and the Christmas Blessings greeting with Chocolate Chip inside, then hand-cut.
The pine branches were cut from Old Olive cardstock, the mistletoe from Whisper White and the pine cones from Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip cardstocks and adhered together on the front.
A bow was cut from Gold Glimmer Paper and added to the top of the pine cones.

SUOC162 Merry Mice

The theme this week on SUO Challenges is Holiday Cuteness! Well, there certainly is a LOT of Holiday Cuteness going around in the Holiday Catalog! Made it hard to choose what set I wanted to use! But, I just did get the Merry Mice Stamp Set with some host rewards, so pulled it out again to use it on this week’s challenge! Instead of using the trio of mice, I stamped them and cut each one out individually and colored them. You’ll be seeing each of them over the next few days! This set is really SO much cuter in person than in the catalog!

Here are the details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The top portion of the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Mint Macaron is embossed with the Holly folder.
A 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Presents & Pinecones Designer Paper is placed across the front, then a 1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Red Glimmer Paper was added on top.
The greeting was stamped with Memento Black Ink under the DSP.
The trio of mice were stamped with Black Stazon Ink on Whisper White, then cut out separately. I colored this one with Emerald Envy, Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Smoky Slate Markers and Blender Pen, then carefully cut around him.
I added him to the Stitched Circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals, added some Red Thread in loops behind the circle, then placed it on the front of the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I did color a little bit of the ground with Smoky Slate for his shadow.

Reason for the Season in Pink!

This was one of the cards we did in a Holiday Catalog class a couple months ago that I thought I’d share now! Today I need to spend in my studio and get some things done for the next few weeks! lol! I love the soft colors and silvery shimmer on this one!

Here are the details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White.
On the 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Pink Pirouette, the Merry Christmas greeting from Reason for the Season was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink in the lower right corner.
A 1 x 5 strip of the silvery DSP in the Neutrals Pack was adhered across the center.
The poinsettia flower outline was stamped twice with Smoky Slate on Whisper White , then the insides with Pink Pirouette and Pear Pizzazz colors. The inside of the second Pink Pirouette one was cut out and added over the base one with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
In the center, a trio of small Pearls were placed.
Some Silver Thread was wrapped around my finger in loops, then added to the back of the Poinsettia with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then adhered to the front. It adds just the right amount of sparkle!

This was one of the most popular cards in the class. I love the non-traditional colors, but would be beautiful in red and green, too!

Going to be a FUN day! My 2-1/2 year old grandson, Carter, is coming over to bake cookies with me this afternoon! Want to start it as a Christmas tradition. My boys both helped my mom with cookies every year and had lots of fun!

Wow…first week in December and it is PREORDER time for the Occasions Catalog! I sure missed out on not going to On Stage and getting to order some items early! But as it turned out, we had a close friend pass away that weekend, so I wouldn’t have been able to go anyway. Sad!

But, it’s Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!

With the traditional Christmas colors in this week’s color challenge, I had trouble narrowing down my choices of what to use! In the end, I went with a CAS design, Designer Paper and Big Shot items for a “no stamp” look!

Here are the details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Cherry Cobbler, folded in half.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White was embossed with the Stripes Embossing Folder.
A 2 x 5-1/4 strip of Season of Cheer Designer Paper was added along the left side.
The 3rd from smallest Star Framelit was cut from Silver Glimmer Paper and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Joy from the Wreath Framelits was cut from Cherry Cobbler and added to the front with Tombow Multipurpose Glue.

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop Non-Traditional Christmas Colors

It’s time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our theme is Non-Traditional Christmas Colors this week! I can’t wait to see what our Design Team came up!

Some of my favorite non-traditional colors for Christmas are pink and blue and I wanted to use the tree in Cheer All Year. So, here’s my version for this year!

The details to recreate this card:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Pink Pirouette folded in half.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Soft Sky was embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.
Along the bottom of Soft Sky, Whisper White was torn in strips to form snow banks.
The tree from Cheer All Year was stamped with Pink Pirouette twice on scrap Whisper White, the trunks colored with Chocolate Chip Marker. Hand-cut the trees out, or the Tree Framelits work with this set, too! Adhere them on the snow banks with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The dots in the trees were colored with Silver Details and the Stars for the tops punched with the Small Star Punch and Silver Glimmer Paper.
Stamp Christmas Cheer from Cheer All Year with Chocolate Chip Ink in the upper left corner.
Add Clear Dazzling Details to the snow banks for some extra bling!
