We have a fun challenge for you over on SUO Challenges! Our theme is New Stampin’ Up! Toys! Well, with the new catalog, I’m sure we all have SOMETHING new that you could use to do the challenge, don’t you?

This is a card my Technique Class did last week! I love that I can make the background any color I want with this technique! I used the fabulous new Star Framelits…I’m SO happy we have stars back in our catalog! Also new is the Big News stamp set…nice LARGE greetings in this set, and this is one of my favorites in the set. AND, the small Star Punch and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper is also featured on here. Don’t forget the NEW Bermuda Bay Bakers Twine, too!

Here are the details:

The base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Bermuda Bay folded in half.
I added a 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Whisper White.
On the abstract layer, I used Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay Markers to make the fun background, then stamped the greeting with Tuxedo Black Memento Pad.
I wrapped the Bermuda Bay Bakers Twine around three times and secured in the back.
I cut the stars with the Star Framelit. And I punched the small star from the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, then layered them altogether on the front.

Oh, I love the sketch this week over on Create with Connie and Mary! You have to check out all the DIFFERENT looks the Challenge Team came up with using this sketch! Amazing! Go to Create with Connie and Mary and see for yourself!

Of course, the first thing I thought of was using a flower…but, I forced myself to think out of the box and go with something a little different than my usual florals. Here is what I came up with!

I LOVE the colors in Lullaby and took them directly from the Designer Paper! Here are the details:

The base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Whisper White, folded in half.
I added a 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Baked Brown Sugar.
On top of that is a 3 3/4 x 5 layer of Pistachio Pudding embossed with the Large Polka Dot folder.
I cut the star with the Star Framelits from Lullaby DSP and then the 1/2″ x 5″ Chevron pattern, I cut one end with a point and the other with a flag end.
The moon from Pictogram Punches was stamped with Baked Brown Sugar on Whisper White and hand cut out.
I also stamped You’re A Star with Hello Honey Ink on Whisper White and cut a flag end on this piece, too. I punched a little star from Gold Glimmer Paper and added with a Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I also stamped two stars from Pictogram Punches in Hello Honey Ink on Whisper White and punched with the little star punch.
Finally, I added Rhinestone Jewels to the moon and the stars!

June 2014 Tour de Freaks

Oh my! This month’s Tour de Freaks is all about NEW Catalog Goodies!!! Are you ready to be inspired by the Control Freak Swappers? I know I’m having a blast with my new toys! You’ve probably just come from Judy DiScipio’s blog…weren’t her cards pretty? We have 12 stops for you this month, so continue on around until you get back here!

The first thing I KNEW that I wanted in the new catalog were the Star Framelits. I’m happy they came out with Be The Star stamp set, too, that has some fun greetings in it! And…you probably think stars = patriotic! And…that is certainly true! However, I wanted to show how to do something different with them…so here are my fairy wands with matching card! Inside the 1×8 cello bags are Glow Bracelets! How fun is that? Wouldn’t it be cute for a girl’s birthday party? The Glow Bracelets came 5 for $1 at Dollar Tree! I took my colors from these 3…and they had red and blue, too.

Of course, I had to use the fabulous Party Pennant Die, too! I’ve shown another use for it here…a cello bag topper! Fold a piece of Whisper White cardstock in half, then run it thru the die above the bottom cut line so you just get the nice curved end…and it doesn’t cut thru the fold. I used the Delicate Dots Embossing folder on it for texture. I also used the new Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper for one layer of the stars! So sparkly and pretty in person!

And, of course we need a matching card for the party. I copied the general color theme of Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green and Melon Mambo, but cut the largest star from Melon Mambo Polka Dot pattern in the Brights Backgrounds Paper Stack. The largest star is just a little bit big for a normal card size…but cutting off the tip of one point worked well! I staggered the stars for extra fun and have Stampin’ Dimensionals between each layer. I added some rhinestones in the background, too!
