CS236 – Sweet Bugs

Our Creatively Simple theme this month is “Critters or Insects”!  Should be lots of fun!

SWEET BUGS

These marching ants are one of my favorites in this set!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Real Red cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Pecan Pie cardstock was added to the front.
  • A 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Cute as a Bug red check DSP was added down the right side.
  • The Party Banner die was used to cut the Cute as a Bug leaf print and added to the front.
  • a 1/2 x 3-3/4 strip of Petal Pink was stamped with the greeting in Memento Black Ink and added across the front.
  • The ants were stamped on the Branching Out die cut from Basic White with Memento Black Ink.  The bottom was stamped with the dashed lines in Old Olive Ink and brushed with more Old Olive Ink.  The ants were colored with Crumb Cake, Pecan Pie, Real Red and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of coral Pearls of Beauty were added to the label and the background.

Our Creatively Simple theme this month is “Critters and Insects”!  I know Stampin’ Up! has lots of stamp images with this theme!

SWEET BUGS

I’m starting out this month using the darling Cute as a Bug Designer Paper for the focus on my card!  Just a little additional stamping with the coordinating Sweet Bugs stamp set!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Old Olive cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Soft Sea Foam cardstock was added on top.
  • A 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Cute as a Bug DSP was added down the right side.
  • The Everyday Arches was cut with the Die from Basic White cardstock and brushed along the bottom with Soft Sea Foam Ink and across the top with Balmy Blue Ink.
  • The dashed ground lines were stamped with Soft Sea Foam along the bottom and the flowers with Memento Black Ink.  They were colored with Old Olive and Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends.
  • The greeting was stamped with Memento Black Ink in the upper left corner and the arch added to the base card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The snail with ladybug and the butterfly were hand-cut from the Cute as a Bug DSP and added to the arch with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of pink Delightful Decorative Dots were added to the background.

IM421 – Sweet Bugs

Welcome to our Create with Stamping Friends Inspiration Monday challenges.  This week’s inspiration is a fun (hungry?) caterpillar!

SWEET BUGS

What other stamp set could I use other than Sweet Bugs for today’s card? Just such a fun set to work with!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Pool Party cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Basic White cardstock was brushed across the top with Pool Party Ink.
  • A 2 x 5 piece of Old Olive cardstock was torn across the top, then stamped and stamped off with the dashed lines image randomly with Old Olive Ink.  The flower clusters were over stamped on the “grass” with Old Olive Ink, then colored with a White Gel Pen.
  • The caterpillar and lily of the valley images were stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White cardstock and colored with Lemon Lime Twist, Pool Party, Mossy Meadow and Bubble Bath Inks.  They were cut with the dies, then the leaf above the caterpillar trimmed off.
  • The flowers were cut with the Dies from Daffodil Delight cardstock and the stem from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, the little critters from Pool Party cardstock.  They were all assembled on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The Sweet Bugs greeting was stamped with Memento Black Ink in the upper right corner.
  • Some coral Pearls of Beauty were added to the center of the die-cut flowers.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!  Wow!  Can’t believe it is the start of a new year!  Welcome 2026…hope it is safe and prosperous for everyone!

It’s Thursday and time for our Create with Stamping Friends challenge!  We’ve got a sketch challenge this week!

SWEET BUGS

I was inspired by the center portion of this sketch to use the Cute as a Bug DSP with the Branching Out Dies for the background of my little ladybug reading her book!  I love this mushroom pattern DSP!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Pecan Pie cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The 3-3/4 x 5 piece of Basic Beige cardstock was embossed with the Lovely Stripes Embossing Folder.  TIP:  This folder has deep impressions…spritz your cardstock with water before embossing to prevent the cardstock from tearing!  Let dry completely.
  • The Cute as a Bug DSP was cut with the Branching Out 2-1/2 x 3-3/4 label Die and adhered to the front.
  • The large mushroom was cut with the Die from Cajun Craze and Very Vanilla cardstocks and the top cut away from the Cajun Craze one and adhered to the Very Vanilla one.  (Save the left-over piece for another project!)  Add it to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The ladybug was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and colored with Cajun Craze, Lemon Lolly, Cloud Cover Stampin’ Blends.  She was cut with the Die and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The small flower/grass was stamped with Memento Black Ink and colored with Old Olive and Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends, cut with the Die, then added next to the ladybug with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The greeting was stamped with Cajun Craze Ink on 5/8 x 2-1/4 Very Vanilla cardstock and the end cut at an angle.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of Crumb Cake Pearls of Beauty were added to the background and the mushroom.

CSF900 – Sweet Bugs (TWO WEEKS)

It’s Thursday and time for our Create with Stamping Friends challenge!  We’ve got a fun color challenge this week!  This challenge will run for TWO weeks to allow our design team to enjoy the Christmas holiday!  Hope you have a blessed one!  Merry Christmas!

SWEET BUGS

This bundle caught my eye with all the sweet bugs in it!  Here’s my first chance using it!  I can’t tell you the last time I’ve used Shy Shamrock…probably when it first came out!  Just not a color green that pulls me in…good thing Stampin’ Up! has LOTS of colors of green!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Shy Shamrock cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded to form the base card.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock was embossed with the new Hearts of Love Embossing Folder.
  • A 1 x 4 strip of Pleasant Patterns Specialty DSP was added towards the bottom (this has a glossy look on the stripes…so fun!)
  • A 1/4 x 4 strip of Berry Burst cardstock was added on top of the DSP.
  • The Sweet Bugs image and ground flowers were stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White cardstock and colored with Berry Burst and Shy Shamrock Stampin’ Blends.  It was cut with the Stylish Shapes large circle Die and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The Sweet Bugs greeting was stamped with Memento Black Ink on 3/8 x 3 strip of Shy Shamrock cardstock and cut apart, then added to the front and circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of Charming Shimmer Faceted Dots (Last Chance) were added to the background.
