Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Mary and I will pick a theme. This month the theme is Summer Fun!

SWEET CITRUS

What else says summer like watermelon? I think I could eat my weight of it every summer…so refreshing! I wondered if I could make watermelon from the Sweet Citrus stamp set. I think it worked out…what do you think?

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Shaded Spruce cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
A 1-1/2 x 3-1/2 piece of Shaded Spruce stripe Regals 6×6 DSP was colored with the Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blends and added to a 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 piece of Basic White cardstock on the left side.
The outline of the Sweet Citrus fruits was stamped with Shaded Spruce Ink and the inside with Sweet Sorbet Ink. The inside was then colored with the Sweet Sorbet Dark Stampin’ Blends to even out the color.
The seeds were stamped with Memento Black Ink using the TINY little center from the Pansy Patch stamp set. They were proportioned just right! The watermelons were cut with the Sweet Citrus Dies.
An extra full citrus was cut from Shaded Spruce cardstock and colored the strips free-hand with Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends. They were placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The greeting from Sweet Citrus stamp set was stamped with Shaded Spruce Ink on 1/2 x 4-3/4 piece of Parakeet Party cardstock. It was added to a 1/4 x 3-3/4 strip of Basic Black cardstock, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The flowers from Sweet Citrus were stamped with Sweet Sorbet Ink and cut with the dies, then added around the greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Three green In Color Pearls were added to the center of the flowers.
Some Sweet Sorbet Baker’s Twine was tied in a bow and added to the flowers with a Mini Glue Dot!

Happy Saturday! This week our CCM Design Team is showing the “Hot Days of Summer” for our Saturday Blog Hop! This will be interesting to see how our Design Team interprets this theme! I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to make at first! But, I have some summer watermelon decorations on my entrance table and that reminded me of Stampin’ Up!’s Cute Fruit stamp set in the Beginner catalog! Watermelon is perfect to eat in the summer when it is hot!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Melon Mambo cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 2-1/2 x 5-1/4 piece of Seaside Spray cardstock was embossed with the Greenery Embossing Folder and added down the center.
Two 1 x 5-1/4 pieces of Plaid Tidings (in the Aug-Dec catalog) were added on the sides. I think this plaid had perfect colors for summer!
A 3/4 x 4 piece of Basic Black cardstock was added across the front.
The Tasteful Label was cut from Whisper White cardstock and stamped with the Cute Fruit greeting in Memento Black Ink.
Two watermelons were stamped with Melon Mambo and Granny Apple Green Ink on Whisper White cardstock and hand-cut. The seeds were colored with a Basic Black Marker. The entire melon center was covered with Wink of Stella to make them look juicy. They were added to the label with Stampin’ Dimensionals and placed on the front with more Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A trio of Artistry Blooms Sequins were added to the front for a little bling.

Not sure why the color of the watermelons look so red…they really are a perfect match to the Melon Mambo in real life!
