The theme over on SUO Challenges this week is “The Treat’s the Thing”. Of course, so close to Halloween, I naturally thought of Halloween treats so made my little holder with Stampin’ Up!’s Freaky Friends! Can you tell what I used? Yep! I used a portion of the Curvy Keepsake Box! Isn’t that fun?

Here are the details:

I used Tangerine Tango cardstock and cut two pieces that were about 3 1/2″ wide and cut just the side of the box that had the loop handle at the top.
I trimmed the bottom of both pieces so that I could overlap and adhere them.
I used the Large Polka Dot Folder and embossed both sides with it. Inside the large circles, I stamped the eyes from Freaky Friends with Tuxedo Black Ink on the front and back.
I punched a moon with the 1 3/4″ circle punch from Crushed Curry cardstock and sponged Tangerine Tango Ink around the edges, then stamped Ghoulish Greetings with Tuxedo Black Ink on it.
I stamped the cat and two bats with Tuxedo Black on scrap Whisper White, then cut them out and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To close, I tied Black Bakers Twine around it and tied a bow.
The holder will hold 1 or 2 mini candy bars like shown!

Freaky Friends

But, today I’m stepping away from Christmas and Winter themes to show you a card I made for a Fall Swap that I participated in. Freaky Friends is a stamp set that had to grow on me a little…but I’m really liking it now! I love the eyeballs in this set, I’ve used them here in the background!

Here are the details:

The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Tangerine Tango, folded in half.
The 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Basic Black was embossed with the Large Polka Dots folder and then the eyeballs were stamped with White Craft Ink in some of the raised circles.
The tag is 2 x 3 3/4 of Whisper White and punched with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.
The witch was stamped on the tag with Memento Black Ink and colored with Old Olive, Crumb Cake and Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities Markers.
Boo to You from the hostess set, Good Greetings, is stamped with Tangerine Tango under the witch, and a 1/2 x 2 piece of candy corn DSP from Motley Monsters is added to the top. The tag is placed on the Basic Black layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Tangerine Tango Thick Twine was placed thru the tag hole and then untwisted to fray it.

Fun, isn’t it??? I really like how this turned out!

September Tour de Freaks!

It’s time for the September Tour de Freaks…and it’s all about HALLOWEEN! You’ve probably just come from Cindy Elam’s blog. Weren’t her projects for Halloween fun? Make sure to continue around to all the stops!

Did you know that after Christmas, people spend the most amount of money on Halloween decorations, costumes and candy? Unbelievable! I’ve had a love affair with Halloween for years! Although I love making Halloween cards, I can’t say that I send many out. But I DO love to decorate for Halloween. I mix it in with my Fall decorations! And I also love to do little favors for Halloween!

One of my good stamping friends just moved several states away. She shares my love of Halloween, so I made up this little frame for her. Hope every time she looks at it she thinks of me!

It really was quite easy to do…the Motley Monsters Designer Paper did most of the work. I think I need to make one of these for myself cause it did turn out CUTE!

I cut out the section that I wanted to feature in the frame (LOVE that witch!), then adhered it to a layer of Gold Glimmer Paper, then backed it on a layer of Basic Black. My frame is a small white shadowbox about 6 x 8 in size.
To that, I added the saying “Witches Night Out” from Tee-Hee-Hee stamp set with Tuxedo Black on Pumpkin Pie cardstock, then punched with the Large Oval Punch, layered on Gold Glimmer Scallop Oval Punch and finally on the Basic Black Decorative Label Punch. I placed it in the frame.
Next I tied the Pumpkin Pie Chevron Ribbon around the outside of the frame with a bow. I added the EEK!, again from Tee-Hee-Hee stamp set, punched with the Word Window Punch and added to the bow with Linen Thread.

Next up is a card that I did using the stamp set, Freaky Friends. I paired it up with the Confetti Celebrations Designer Paper…I like how bright the patterns are in this package!

Here are a few details:

I colored the greeting from Mingle All The Way with my Blendabilities over White Embossing.
The monsters were stamped with Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry, Tuxedo Black Memento. Frankenstein was colored with the Old Olive Blendabilities Marker.
The background Rich Razzleberry was embossed with Delicate Dots Folder.
I punched the banners from Confetti Celebrations DSP and adhered across the top, adding Rhinestones colored with the Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities Marker between them.

Isn’t that a fun lineup of monsters??? It turned out pretty cute and I love how the greeting turned out! Continue on to Debbie Henderson’s blog...you KNOW she will have FANTASTIC ideas for Halloween!

This week we have a fun and unusual sketch challenge for you to try over on Create with Connie and Mary! Go really simple…or add more if you want like I did!

Here’s my card:

I used Stampin’ Up!’s Freaky Friends stamp set for mine, along with the Skinny Mini Alphabet! Wow…lining up the word on one block and stamping all at once really made it easy. I had to leave a “space” for the second O in SPOOKY, I used the Q and took it off before stamping. Then filled in the second O separately. Here are the details:

The base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Basic Black, folded in half.
On the 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Tangerine Tango, I used two 1/2″ strips from the Motley Monsters Designer Paper and crossed them according to the sketch.
I stamped the SPOOKY greeting with the Skinny Mini Alphabet and Memento Black Ink.
I used the eyeballs and Memento Black randomly in the background, too.
I punched the Note Tag Punch from Sahara Sand cardstock and added a 1/2″ strip of the same DSP along the bottom. I stamped the cat above it with Memento Black Ink and colored the eyes with Crushed Curry Marker.
I punched the moon from Crushed Curry with the 3/4″ Circle Punch and sponged around the edges with Tangerine Tango Ink, then placed it in the corner of the Note Tag Punch.
I stamped the bat with Memento Black Ink on scrap Whisper White and cut it out, then placed on the edge of the tag on the moon.
The tag was punched with the 1/8″ Circle and I added Hello Honey Ribbon tied with Basic Black Bakers Twine in a bow. I added the tag to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
