Saturday Blog Hop – Birthday Cards

Happy Saturday! It’s time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week the Design Team is featuring Birthday Cards!  Why?  Because it is MY birthday…and it is a BIG one!  Oh my!  Where does the time go?  But, they say you are only as old as you feel…so I’m in pretty good shape!

BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIP

I choose to use this stamp set as Hydrangeas are one of my very favorite flowers.  I love their bluish purple look.  I also love the new In Good Taste Designer Paper and thought they paired well today!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Highland Heather cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of In Good Taste Designer Paper (love those dark wood grains!)
  • The 2-3/4 x 3-3/4 piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with the hydrangeas in each corner by inking them up first with Highland Heather, then using the “rock & roll” technique to add Balmy Blue Ink along one side.
  • The leaves were added with Granny Apple Green Ink.
  • It was layered on a 3 x 4 piece of Highland Heather cardstock, then added to the front.
  • The Seaside Spray Linen Ribbon was added across the front, then tied with Linen Thread in a bow.
  • Birthdays are the best days was stamped with Gorgeous Grape on Whisper White cardstock, then cut with the Tasteful Label Die.  It was added on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Two Champagne Rhinestones were added to the label.

IM85 – Beautiful Friendship

Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenge!  Isn’t this a beautiful floral watercolor picture?  I’m thinking the flowers are geraniums?  I don’t recall Stampin’ Up! ever having a geranium image, do you?

I remember having a hall bathroom wallpapered in geraniums when we first got married…it was SO pretty!  Here’s what I came up with for my card…a watercolor technique!

Stampin’ Details:

    • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Lovely Lipstick cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
    • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic Black was added on top.
    • On the 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Watercolor Paper, the paper was spritzed with water, then the flower from Beautiful Friendship was stamped with Lovely Lipstick Ink (it will spread quite a bit).  When the paper was almost dry, the flower was stamped again on top with Lovely Lipstick Ink.  This technique really gives a pretty look.
    • The leaves in Beautiful Friendship were stamped several times with Granny Apple Green Ink.
    • The greeting was stamped with Memento Black Ink in the lower left corner.

CCMC573 – Beautiful Friendship

Wow…time again for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!  The weeks are going by faster, aren’t they?  This is a pretty color combination and I just had to use the beautiful roses in Beautiful Friendship stamp set!

Here’s what I made!  I probably never would have put Grapefruit Grove and Pretty Peacock together, but I really like the color combination!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Grapefruit Grove cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On tp is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, stamped with the greeting in the lower left corner with Pretty Peacock Ink.
  • A 1-1/2 x 4 piece of Woven Threads Designer Paper was added to the right side, with a 1/2 x 4 piece of Sahara Sand cardstock layered on top.
  • The Stitched Shape Oval was cut from Whisper White and stamped with the roses from Beautiful Friendship in Grapefruit Grove Ink.  It was layered on a Layering Scallop Oval cut from Grapefruit Grove cardstock, then popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The leaves were stamped off with Pretty Peacock Ink on scrap Whisper White cardstock, then hand-cut and tucked between the oval layers.
