Saturday Blog Hop – Birthday Cards

Happy Saturday! It’s time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! This week the Design Team is featuring Birthday Cards! Why? Because it is MY birthday…and it is a BIG one! Oh my! Where does the time go? But, they say you are only as old as you feel…so I’m in pretty good shape!

BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIP

I choose to use this stamp set as Hydrangeas are one of my very favorite flowers. I love their bluish purple look. I also love the new In Good Taste Designer Paper and thought they paired well today!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Highland Heather cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of In Good Taste Designer Paper (love those dark wood grains!)
The 2-3/4 x 3-3/4 piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with the hydrangeas in each corner by inking them up first with Highland Heather, then using the “rock & roll” technique to add Balmy Blue Ink along one side.
The leaves were added with Granny Apple Green Ink.
It was layered on a 3 x 4 piece of Highland Heather cardstock, then added to the front.
The Seaside Spray Linen Ribbon was added across the front, then tied with Linen Thread in a bow.
Birthdays are the best days was stamped with Gorgeous Grape on Whisper White cardstock, then cut with the Tasteful Label Die. It was added on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Two Champagne Rhinestones were added to the label.

IM108 – Bonanza Buddies

Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenge! This week’s inspiration is a fun toucan balloon print!

I love the new bundle, Bonanza Buddies! I couldn’t wait to use it on this challenge, it came together SO quickly! Such CUTE little animals in this set!

Stampin’ Details:

- The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Pineapple Punch cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
- On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock.
- A 1-1/2 x 4-1/4 piece of Birthday Bonanza Designer Paper was added across the front.
- The Layered Circle was cut from Pineapple Punch cardstock and added on top.
- Let’s Celebrate You from Bonanza Buddies stamp set was stamped with Memento Black on a 3/8 x 4-3/4 piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock and added over the circle.
- The toucan from Birthday Buddies was stamped with Memento Black Ink and his beak colored with Pumpkin Pie, Mango Melody and Pineapple Punch Markers. He was cut with the Bonanza Dies and added to the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- The birthday hat was stamped with Pumpkin Pie Ink and added to the head, then a red pom-pom was added at the top with Tombow Multipurpose Glue and then added with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional to the card.
- The balloon was stamped with Poppy Parade Ink on scrap Whisper White and cut with the Bonanza Die, then the string stamped with Memento Black and hand-cut. Both were added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- A Rhinestone was added to the balloon.

O”fish”ally One

My grandson, Brody, turned ONE years old on Friday and they held his birthday party on Saturday! He’s such a happy baby!

Here’s the card I made for his birthday…the theme of the party was that he was “O-Fish-ally One”! His mom came over and cut out many circles and ovals to make bobbers and fish for decorations…unfortunately I didn’t get good photos of them finished (left that to my husband since I’m not getting around easily…and he kind of missed the boat with his photography skills at the party).

Here are the details on my card:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Pool Party cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock.
Next layer is a 3-3/4 x 5 layer of the Herringbone Pool Party pattern in the Coffee Cafe Designer Paper package.
The fishing bobber was made by cutting two of the largest Stitched Layers Circles from Whisper White and Real Red cardstock. Then used the large Layering Oval to cut away a potion of the Real Red and make the curve. They were adhered together.
The top of the bobber was a 1″ square of Basic Black cut on the sides to an angle and adhered behind the circles.
The #1 from the Layering Alphabet was cut from Basic Black cardstock and added to the bobber towards the left side.
The Hip Hip Hooray greeting from Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set was curved and placed on the block, then stamped with Basic Black Ink.
A 1/8″ Circle was punched in the topper and then Basic Black Baker’s Twine was run thru the hole and then circled on the front of the card, held with Mini Glue Dots.
The bobber was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I think it turned out SO cute! Love to be able to personalize cards to match the theme of their birthday parties!!! One of the reasons I became a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator in the first place was to be able to made cards and favors like this! Wish I had been a demo when my kids were little!

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Red, White & one color

Our theme for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop is “Red, White, and one other color” combination! I first thought I’d do a Valentine…but I pretty much have those finished. So, I went with a happy flower instead! Can you tell what stamp set I used? I’m feeling under the weather with a BAD cold, so this came together quick and easy!

Here are the details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Real Red cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The Pear Pizzazz balloon string was stamped for the stem of the flower on a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White.
A 1/2 x 4 piece of Sending Love Designer Paper was added to the bottom of that layer, too.
Five of the polka dot balloon images were stamped with Real Red on Real Red cardstock, then punched out with the Balloon Bouquet Punch (smaller balloon), then assembled around the stem with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I slightly curled the edges of the flower petals.
A 1/2″ Circle was punched from Pear Pizzazz and inked with Wild Wasabi around the edges for the center of the flower. It was popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Two leaves were stamped with the striped balloons and punched with the smaller shaped balloon, then added to the stem with Stampin’ Dimensionals, curling the leaves slightly.
Happy Birthday was stamped with Wild Wasabi above the Designer Paper.

Balloon Adventures

Had two classes yesterday that featured the Balloon Adventures stamp set and Balloon Pop-Up Thinlit dies! Great to see some faces that have moved away come back and visit! I tried to use every piece in the set and succeeded except for the little fold-over tag…I demoed it for them.

Here’s another idea for them to use with the Bundle they took home with them. We did the little gift card holder in class (reversed colors because I discovered I was out of 12×12 Bermuda Bay)! Then I created a matching card to post here!

Here are the details for the card:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 So Saffron cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Bermuda Bay cardstock with a 1-3/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Paper on it.
The balloons from Balloon Adventures were stamped with Memento Black Ink on So Saffron cardstock and Pool Party Ink on Pool Party cardstock. They were punched with the Balloon Bouquet Punch along with a Basic Black cardstock one.
The strings were stamped with Memento Black ink. The balloons added on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The tag was cut from the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlits from So Saffron cardstock, stamped with the greeting in Balloon Adventures and added over the strings.
A Rhinestone jewels was added to the Basic Black balloon.

The Gift Card is basically the same, only with two balloons and a 1-1/4 x 3-3/4 piece of DSP. It was secured on the back with two circles and some Black Baker’s Twine. I love the “Open Me Already” greeting from Balloon Adventures!

Marquee Messages

Happy Birthday to me!!!! Had a wonderful start to my day after going strawberry picking with my grandson this morning! I think he ate as many as he picked! lol! It was fun!

So, thought I’d feature Marquee Messages to celebrate my big day on my blog today…

Here are the details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Whisper White, folded in half.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Night of Navy cardstock.
A 1 x 5 strip of Calypso Coral has the Triple Banner Punched on both ends and placed in the middle of the card.
The Marquee Messages sign was stamped three times with Night of Navy Ink. Once on the base Whisper White, then the Birthday banner on Calypso Coral and cut out then placed on the Whisper White, the arrow on Night of Navy cardstock and cut out.
It’s Your was colored with Daffodil Delight and the lines on the left colored with Calypso Coral markers.
The Clear Wink of Stella pen is highlighting the dots on the arrow and the star on the Birthday greeting.

Fun, isn’t it? I love the color combination and a great card to celebrate my birthday!

CCMC354 Crazy About You

Another fun challenge for you over on Create with Connie and Mary’s Thursday Challenge, this time a bright color challenge! Grab your stamps and play along!

Here’s my card using Stampin’ Up!’s Crazy About You stamp set.

Here are the details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Tangelo Twist cardstock.
A diagonal cut piece of Birthday Bash Designer striped paper was adhered at the bottom of the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White. A 1/2 strip of Tangelo Twist was adhered across the seam.
Two pieces of 1/8″ Gold Metallic Ribbon were wrapped along the left side and adhered at the back of the Whisper White layer.
The Crazy About You flower was stamped three times with Tangelo Twist ink on Whisper White, one punched with the Flower Medallion Punch and the centers cut out of the other two to make three layers. The layers are popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. In the center is a Gold Sequin with a small Pearl in the center.
Happy Birthday was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink on Bermuda Bay cardstock and punched with the Curly Label Punch (SOOO sad to see this punch retire!) It was tucked under the flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A Gold Sequin in the center with a pearl and then two more pearls beside it for a little bling on the tag.
Three more gold sequins were scattered on the front.

Sneak Peek Blog Tour with Petal Potpourri

The Control Freak Swappers are having a SNEAK PEEK Blog Tour for our December Tour de Freaks! I know it’s a BUSY time of year, but you know you will see LOTS of inspiration from the upcoming Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs…ordering begins January 6th! You’ve probably just come from Debbie Henderson’s blog…weren’t her projects fun? I love her work! We have 12 stops this month, so make sure you stop by them all!

Every year I try to decorate my paper calendar that sits on my desk. Although I keep a lot of appts on my phone, my desk calendar is my BIBLE…reminders and dates, birthdays, etc., all get placed in this master calendar. So, I want it to look pretty, right? And…flowers are my favorite things to stamp…so how could I resist using the new Petal Potpourri stamp set to decorate my calendar? And, I needed a matching birthday card, right?

Here’s what the calendar started as…pretty plain, huh?

And here is a closeup of it finished. I used the new Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Paper to get started with my colors. The background is Bermuda Bay with Crushed Curry for the side and Petal Potpourri flowers. I think this doily pattern is one of my favorites in the set! The centers are Tangelo Twist with Rhinestones inside, the leaves are Mossy Meadow punched from one of the flowers in the Petal Potpourri set. Of course the flower has a MATCHING punch! I added the year with Silver Glimmer Paper numbers cut from the Perfect Print Numbers Bigz Dies onto Basic Black cardstock with the Label Framelit and used my Chalk Pen to draw around the edges.

Here’s a closeup of the card, too! This is fun because the greeting is from the Sale-A-Bration set, Big Day, and I embossed it with White Embossing Powder on Basic Black, then used my Blendabilities Markers (Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Bermuda Bay and Pumpkin Pie) to color over the White Embossing. I love that look! I also drew around the edges with the White Chalk Pen. The flowers are the same as I used on the calendar, but I used the little center circle image for the background with Bermuda Bay ink on the Bermuda Bay cardstock!
