CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Tangelo Twist

Hello everyone! It’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Did you hear our news? The May Create with Connie and Mary Mini Session will be delayed opening until May 18th so that we can offer projects featuring the NEW catalog preorder items! So exciting! I was able to get my hands on some of the Premiere items featured at On Stage Convention and am having fun playing with those, too! Today is the last week that we are featuring the retiring In Colors…Tangelo Twist is this week! I love this bright orange and will really miss it, especially around Halloween time!

My card this week turned out a little more Mossy Meadow that I had anticipated. I’m at a stamping retreat this weekend and realized that I had made the wrong color card for this week’s blog hop. But, I have limited Designer Paper supplies here and no DSP with Tangelo Twist. So, I let the flower in Best Thoughts, one of the retiring hostess sets, be the pop of Tangelo Twist color I needed.

Here are the details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Tangelo Twist folded in half.
On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, I added a 1-1/4 x 4 strip of English Garden Designer Paper along the bottom and 3/4 x 4 strip of the same across the top.
The 1/8″ piece of Gold Metallic Ribbon is wrapped around to the back to adhere and hide the seam.
The flower from Best Thoughts was stamped on scrap Whisper White with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then the flower colored with Tangelo Twist and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Markers. It was hand-cut and added to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I used the Clear Wink of Stella to highlight the entire flower. Wish you could see the pretty sparkle it gave the flower.
Finally, a little bit of 1/8″ Gold Metallic Ribbon was tied around the stem and Best Thoughts greeting stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink.

We have a fun sketch challenge for you this week over on Create with Connie and Mary! Check it out!

And here is what I came up with. My inspiration came from my gorgeous hydrangea bushes…they are blooming their heads off!

Here are the details to recreate this card:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11, HEAVY Whisper White…have I mentioned I love this stuff?
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Wisteria Wonder was stamped with You’re in my Thoughts with Black Stazon Ink.
The green plaid Cherry on Top DSP was cut 1-1/2 x 4, then cut with a flag end. Under it is a 1/2 piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock and then a Perfect White Accent.
I first cut the Whisper White oval with the Oval Framelits, then I placed the hydrangea flower image with Black Stazon where I wanted it. I watercolored with the Pink Pirouette, Wisteria Wonder and Marina Mist Stampin’ Write Markers for the trio of colors. The stem is Wild Wasabi and Cucumber Crush Stampin’ Write Markers and the AquaPainter again. I popped up the oval on the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finally, I stamped the butterfly with Black Stazon Ink and watercolored with So Saffron Marker, then cut it out and placed it on the flower.

It’s Thursday again (already!) and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge! It’s a fun color challenge. You’ll see that I deviated just slightly on my card…my flower needed green leaves and stem, it just didn’t look right in Crumb Cake! I tried it and it looked like my poor flower was dying! lol!

So here’s my card:

The details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Real Red, folded in half.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Crumb Cake was stamped with the Hardwood Background Stamp and White Craft Ink.
Over that is a 2-1/2 x 4 strip of Brights Designer Paper Stack, then a 1/2 x 4 piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock over that.
The greeting from Best Thoughts was stamped with Black Stazon ink in the upper right corner.
The large flower from Best Thoughts was stamped with Black Stazon Ink on Whisper White, then using a Blender Pen and Ink Pads, the flower was colored with Lost Lagoon and Old Olive, then cut out and placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finally, a Crumb Cake button was tied with White Bakers Twine and added to the strip of Lost Lagoon cardstock.

I LOVE the Blue Hydrangea bushes in my yard and this card reminds me of them!
