We have a very neutral based color challenge for you to try this week on Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!

Here’s my take using Going Global…one of the retiring stamp sets. I’m bummed…it is so nice for making masculine cards!

Here are the details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Crumb Cake folded in half.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic Gray.
The 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Whisper White is embossed with the World Traveler embossing folder (I really wish this would have stayed in the new catalog!)
Towards the bottom is a 1 x 5 strip of Neutrals Designer Paper Collection in the Crumb Cake polka dot pattern.
A 1/2 x 4 strip of Smoky Slate is stamped with the World’s Best Dad greeting from Going Global (one of the reasons I like this stamp set so well is that it includes greetings!) in Basic Gray Ink.
The compass image from Going Global is stamped with Basic Gray, then colored with Smoky Slate and Crumb Cake Markers.
Some Silver Thread is wrapped in a circle and added behind the image.
A Silver sequin is placed in the center of the compass and some silver stars from the Neutrals Sequins is scattered in the background.

Mediterranean Achievers Blog Hop – Jan 2016

WELCOME! It has been several months since I’ve had the chance to participate in the Mediterranean Grand Achievers Blog Hop! The theme this month is “All You Need is Love”. I can’t wait to see all the ideas! You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog, Connie Babbert, or have come from the person before me. With this theme, you’ll probably be seeing a lot of pink and red on this month’s blog hop. But, I wanted to create a special Valentine/Love card for my husband…he does SO much and I truly appreciate him! I went with some masculine colors and the Going Places bundle of products for my husband’s card. Hope he doesn’t peek at my blog before I give it to him!

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Sahara Sand, scored at 2-3/4 and 5-1/2. The short flap for the front is folded back on itself.
A 2-3/4 x 5-1/2 piece of Going Places Designer Paper covers the front flap.
A 4 x 5-1/4 piece of coordinating Going Places Designer Paper covers the inside.
Two sizes of stars were cut with the Star Framelits and Hello Honey cardstock. The larger 3-7/8″ star was adhered to the front panel and the smaller 2-7/8″ star inside, making sure the front star will completely cover up the inside star when the card is closed.
The Lucky Stars greeting was stamped inside on the star with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
The Globe was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink on Lost Lagoon and cut with the 2-3/8″ Circle Framelit, then layered on a 2-1/2″ Circle of Basic Black cardstock. It is popped up on the front of the star with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The lost without you greeting was stamped on a 1/2 x 4 strip of Whisper White and adhered over the center of the globe.

I thought this was such an appropriate card since my husband IS the star in my life and it would be a great Valentine card! OK…now time to move on to the next fabulous person in line under my name, Connie Babbert. I’m sure you’ll get LOTS of inspiration as you go around the blog hop! Have fun!

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop Trim it Down

Woohoo! The theme this week for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop is TRIM IT DOWN! Yes…definitely a FEW ways things need to trim down around here, but specifically this means no more than two layers and one embellishment.

I hope my card meets that criteria…after it was done and I was getting ready to post, I had second thoughts! But, in my mind it does fit the criteria…I don’t count the punches as layers or embellishments. lol!

Here are the details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, folded in half.
On top the 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Night of Navy cardstock was embossed with the World Traveler Embossing Folder. I placed it on the base at an angle, then trimmed off the excess.
The greeting from Going Global stamp set was stamped in the lower right corner with Real Red Ink.
The globe from Going Global was stamped with Night of Navy on Whisper White, then punched with the 2″ Circle Punch and layered on the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle punched from Real Red Glimmer Paper and adhered to the front.
The Love banner from one of the other greetings was stamped with Real Red Ink, the banner cut by hand and layered over the globe with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finally, two Real Red Candy Dots for embellishments were placed in the upper right corner.
