Pretty Poinsettia

IM450 – Pretty Poinsettia

Welcome to our Create with Stamping Friends Inspiration Monday challenges.  This week’s inspiration is some pretty colored poinsettias!

PRETTY POINSETTIA

I went with a slimline card size so the three different colored poinsettias would fit comfortably on the front!  The texture in the background mimics the texture on the pots!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 7 x 8-1/2 Poppy Parade cardstock, score at 3-1/2 and folded.
  • A 3-1/4 x 8-1/4 piece of Smoky Slate cardstock was embossed with the Textured Tree Ring Embossing Folder and brushed with Smoky Slate Ink, then added to the front.
  • The two leaf branches were cut with the Die from Old Olive cardstock and brushed with Old Olive Ink along the edges.  They were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals at the top and bottom.
  • The bottom leaves of the Poinsettias were cut with the Die from Peaceful Pine cardstock and brushed with Peaceful Pine Ink on the edges.
  • The three layers of the Poinsettias were cut with the Dies from Poppy Parade cardstock and brushed with Cherry Cobbler Ink in the centers.  The next from Very Vanilla cardstock and brushed with Soft Sea Foam Ink in the centers, the last from Flirty Flamingo cardstock and brushed with Flirty Flamingo Ink in the centers.  They were layered and adhered together, then added to the leaves.  They were placed over the leaf branches with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The Pretty Poinsettia greeting was stamped with Basic Black Hybrid Ink on Basic White cardstock and cut with the label in the Springtime Scenes Die.  The letters were colored with Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends.  It was tucked into the Very Vanilla poinsettia with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Trios of Antique Pearls were added to each of the poinsettia centers.

This is our last Creatively Simple Celebrations theme for the month of July!  Stay tuned for a new them next month!

PRETTY POINSETTIA (Sunflower)

I love using my stamps and dies for purposes other than the original intention!  I thought the poinsettia would also make a pretty sunflower!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Golden Glow cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 3-1/4 x 4-3/4 piece of Sunflower Fields DSP (available Sept 1 for customers) was added in the center.
  • A coordinating 1-1/4 x 4 piece of Sunflower Fields DSP was added across the top.
  • Two of the medium sized Pretty Poinsettia petals were cut with the die from Daffodil Delight cardstock and brushed with Golden Glow Ink along the edges.  They were adhered together.
  • The small circle from Stylish Shapes Dies was cut from Early Espresso cardstock and added to the center.
  • The leaf branch from Pretty Poinsettia Dies was cut from Old Olive cardstock and brushed with Mossy Meadow Ink.  It was added across the DSP with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the sunflower added on top.
  • Celebrate from Banner Sayings was stamped with Early Espresso Ink on Basic White cardstock and cut with the Three Banner Punch.  It was tucked over the leaves.
  • A trio of white Shimmering Dots were added to the center of the sunflower and one next to the end of the greeting.

Welcome to our Create with Stamping Friends Inspiration Monday challenges.  This week’s inspiration is a Christmas quilt!

PRETTY POINSETTIA

When I made this card, I hadn’t yet received my order with the Stitched Stocking Bundle, but I thought the DSP prints worked well with the Pretty Poinsettia stamps!  In fact, Debbie and I used them on this DSP with our Pretty Poinsettia Collection of tutorials for some FUN cards and favors!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Real Red cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of A Stitched Season DSP was added to the front.
  • The 1-7/8 x 1-7/8 piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock was stamped with the Pretty Poinsettia greeting in Secret Sea Ink.
  • It was added to a 2 x 2 piece of Old Olive cardstock, then to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The poinsettia and leaves were stamped with Real Red and Peaceful Pine Inks on Basic Beige cardstock and cut with the Pretty Poinsettia Does.  They were added to the corner with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of Pearls of Beauty were added to the center of the poinsettia.

Saturday Blog Hop – Jolly July

It’s Saturday and time for our Create with Stamping Friends Blog Hop.  This week’s theme is “Jolly July”…featuring Christmas cards!  As fast as the year is flying by, it will be time to be thinking of Christmas soon!

A STITCHED SEASON

The only Christmas set I’ve purchased so far this year is Pretty Poinsettia.  I love it and have used it quite a bit already.  So, I challenged myself to use something different and focused on A Stitched Season DSP for today’s card!  I did sneak in a little of the Pretty Poinsettia Bundle…but the focus is the DSP.

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Real Red cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Old Olive was added on top.
  • A 3 x 4 piece of holly A Stitched Season DSP was added to the bottom of the Old Olive layer.
  • Next a 1/4 x 4 strip of Real Red cardstock hides the seam.
  • The arch was cut from Basic White cardstock using the Everyday Arches Die and stamped with the Pretty Poinsettia greeting in Secret Sea Ink on the right side.
  • The largest petals from Pretty Poinsettia was cut from Peaceful Pine cardstock, then cut in half for the leaves.  They were added along the side and bottom with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The cardinal, tree and poinsettia were all hand-cut from the A Stitched Season DSP, then added to the arch with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A white Adhesive Backed Mini Christmas Button was added to the center of the poinsettia image.
  • Some Linen Thread was tied in a bow and added to the tree trunk.

It’s Saturday and time for our Create with Stamping Friends Blog Hop.  This week’s theme is “White on White”.

PRETTY POINSETTIA

White on White looks like a simple technique, but it can be a little challenging to get it just right!  I think the key is to have layers of texture!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock was embossed with the Textured Tree Ring Embossing Folder.
  • The Sweet Words & Labels Die was cut from Basic White cardstock, stamped with the greeting in Basic Black Hybrid Ink and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The long poinsettia branch was cut from Basic White cardstock and adhered along the bottom of the label with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A three-layered poinsettia and a two-layered poinsettia were cut from Basic White cardstock and adhered together.  They were added to the branch with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some Wink of Stella was added to the petals and the JOY letters.
  • Two white Adhesive Backed Blooms were added to the center of the poinsettias.

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Poppy Parade cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Golden Glow cardstock was stamped with the Pretty Poinsettia greeting in Peaceful Pine Ink and the insides colored with Wink of Stella.
  • Two 3/4 x 5-1/4 strips of plaid A Stitched Season DSP were added to each side of the Golden Glow layer.
  • The large leaf branch from the Pretty Poinsettias Dies was cut from Gold Metallic Paper and then cut in half and adhered across the top.
  • Two sets of Pretty Poinsettias petals (LOVE the texture!) were cut from Poppy Parade cardstock and brushed with Poppy Parade Ink.  The leaves were cut from Peaceful Pine cardstock and sponged with Peaceful Pine Ink, and the centers cut from Golden Glow cardstock.  They were assembled together and added over the gold leaves with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of gold Adhesive Backed Metallic Gems were added to the flower centers and next to the greeting.
