Saturday Blog Hop – Hello Summer

At this time, I’m finally moving into our new home! The appliances are supposed to be installed today. I’m glad to see there is an end in sight. My studio, however, won’t be ready for a couple more months! I’ll be working out of boxes for a while until my cabinets get installed.

But, it’s Saturday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop! Our design team theme is featuring “Hello Summer” this week. It’s my most favorite time of the year! One thing I love about summer is the bright green leaves and relaxing by reading a book! I combined both of these in my card this week!

Here are the details on this card:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On a 3-3/4 x 5 piece of Whisper White, the tree trunk from Sheltering Tree is stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink, the leaves were stamped with both Tranquil Tide and Emerald Envy (very subtle difference).
The ground was stamped with Emerald Envy Ink, then the blades of grass with Tranquil Tide Ink.
The chair from Colorful Seasons stamp set was stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink in the foreground, then the seat with Berry Burst Ink on scrap Whisper White. It was cut out and placed in the chair frame.
Thinking of you from Colorful Seasons stamp set was stamped with Berry Burst Ink.
A Sahara Sand Marker and AquaPainter added a little shadow under the tree.

Spooky Happy Scenes

I was so excited to see the Seasonal Frame Thinlet Dies contained the word “Spooky”! I immediately thought of a haunted tree with the word in front. I also LOVE the little corner spider web in Happy Scenes. So…here’s my interpretation!

Here are the details to recreate this card:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Basic Black cardstock.
On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, a 1-1/2 x 5-1/4 layer of Happy Haunting DSP was placed across the bottom. A 1/8″ strip of Crushed Curry cardstock hides the seam.
The frame from Seasonal Frame Thinlets was used to cut the Whisper White.
The tree from Sheltering Tree was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink towards the left side.
The moon was created by punching a 1-3/8 circle from scrap paper to make a mask, then sponging Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie Inks inside the circle mask on the Whisper White.
The corner spider web from Happy Scenes was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, then stamped again on scrap Whisper White. The spider and string was cut out and adhered onto the tree.
Finally, SPOOKY was cut with the Seasonal Frame Thinlet from Black Glimmer Paper! LOVE it!!! I used the new Fine Tip Glue Pen (LOVE IT, too!) to attach it to the front of the card!

Sheltering Tree

Hope you had a wonderful President’s Day. I had the day off from babysitting my grand-daughter, but spent most of the day resting and trying to recover from my cold. I had been hoping to spend the day stamping! Oh well. It was just a good day to stay inside and keep warm!

Here’s one of the other cards I swapped at Convention. I love to make the tree dressed in “spring” colors!

Here are the details:

The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Blushing Bride, folded in half.
The Soft Suede layer is 4 x 5-1/4 and “You warm my heart” was stamped in the lower right corner with Tuxedo Black Ink and the 1-1/2 x 4 strip of Best Year Ever DSP was adhered across the center portion.
On the 3 x 4 3/4 layer of Whisper White, the tree trunk was stamped with Soft Suede, the blossoms with Blushing Bride, then some Calypso Coral spots were added in for dimension.
The grass of Sahara Sand was added along the bottom of the tree trunk and the swing of Soft Suede added to the tree. The top corners were rounded with the Corner Rounder Punch.
A Petite Petals punch was used with Best Year Ever DSP for the blossom, and the smaller Itty Bitty Accents flower from Calypso Coral cardstock.
The pearl was colored with Calypso Coral Blendabilities and added to the center of the blossom.

Have to run and work on my class cards for tomorrow. As I mentioned, this cold has put me behind! Luckily I know what I’m going to be showing. lol! Stay warm!

I used Stampin’ Up!’s stamp set, Sheltering Tree, for my card this week since I used it on my project that subscribers saw this past Thursday! I must say that I loved it and have it on display in my home!

Here are the details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Sahara Sand, folded in half
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Blushing Bride cardstock.
The Whisper White piece is cut on a diagonal and stamped with the Sheltering Tree in Soft Suede. The blossoms on the tree are Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral inks.
The swing is Soft Suede Ink and the ground is Sahara Sand ink.
A trio of In Color Sequins is added to the tree for a little bling.
For a little extra, the Petite Petals Punch was punched from Best Year Ever Designer Paper and the center Itty Bitty Accents flower is Blushing Bride cardstock. In the center is another In Color Sequin.
The greeting is stamped on the diagonal, too, in Soft Suede Ink.

I LOVE this stamp set and what pretty cards it makes!
