CS80 – Easter Bunny

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Mary and I will pick a theme. This month the theme is Animals! We will design our cards using this theme!

EASTER BUNNY

I love the sweet little faces on the bunnies in the Easter Bunny stamp set…but they aren’t just for Easter! Here’s a cute little card suitable for ANY occasion!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Mint Macaron cardstock is added on top.
The 2-1/2 x 5 piece of Mint Macaron Country Gingham Designer Paper was added down the center.
The 2 x 3-1/2 piece of Basic White cardstock was stamped with the “Hi” greeting from Easter Bunny stamp set with Memento Black Ink in the upper left corner.
A 1 x 3-1/2 piece of Early Espresso cardstock was torn across the top, then added to the bottom of the Basic White for the “ground”
The bunny and three carrots from Easter Bunny Stamp Set were stamped with Memento Black Ink on scrap Basic White cardstock. The bunny was colored with SU500, SU600, Crumb Cake Combo and Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends. The carrots were colored with Dark Pumpkin Pie and Dark Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blends.
The bunny was punched using the Easter Bunny Punch and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The carrots were hand-cut and placed in the “ground” with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.
A trio of orange Iridescent Pastel Gems were added to the background.

Baby We’ve Grown

OK…think it is time for another photo of my sweet grandson, Carter, don't you? He is 7 months here and I had just finished giving him his "breakfast" of cereal, applesauce, prunes and avocado! What a mixture, but he seems to love it!

The Baby We've Grown stamp set is one of my favorites in the Occasions catalog! I especially like the trio of owls! I've used it a few times for baby cards for friends and family. But, this card I did for my Go Divas Occasions Catalog swap! I love getting all the excellent ideas from this swap group!

Sometimes in the swap design process, I'll do a prototype in one set of colors and then change the colors for the actual swap. In this case, it almost turned out as girl and boy versions! I ended up doing the girl version for the swap because I LOVE that colorful chevron pattern in Watercolor Wonder DSP and I had more DSP of it than the boy version!

See…basically the same, but the colors make them look totally different, don't you think? I think the card is pretty easy to figure out. I did use the Circle Framelits and the Chevron Folder for embossing the bottom half of the circle. The girl version uses Watercolor Wonder DSP and the boy version uses Fresh Prints Designer Paper Stack. I watercolored them using Stampin' Write Markers and my AquaPainter…my favorite way to have control over my watercoloring (is that an oxymoron?) For the new in "brand new" greeting, I used the coordinating marker to color in the word new…making it stand out, I think!

So…which one do you like better??? Boy version or Girl Version? Would love to hear!!!

Baby We’ve Grown

I was excited to see a new baby set in the Occasions Catalog! In this one, my favorite image is the bunny! I made this card to put in with the gift for my friend Annette's daughter who just had a baby girl, Charlotte !

Here are the details:

The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Calypso Coral, folded in half.
I embossed the 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White with SNEAK PEEK Sale-A-Bration folder, Decorative Dots! LOVE it!
I added a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Paper to the bottom of another Calypso Coral piece of cardstock. I covered the seam with the Calypso Coral Ruffled Ribbon, wrapped to the back to adhere.
I stamped Sweet Baby from Baby We've Grown in Black Stazon, then colored in the letters with So Saffron Marker.
Then I stamped the bunny with Black Stazon on scrap Whisper White, punched with the 1 3/4" Circle, then watercolored with So Saffron and Calypso Coral makers. I added a little extra color for her cheeks.
The Circle was added to the Starburst Framelit of Calypso Coral and placed on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
I added two pearls to the upper right corner.
Then I stamped a matching envelope!

Isn't it sweet??? I think so!

SUO80 Zoo Babies

This week's SUO Challenge has the theme of Welcome Baby! Seems like we are in that circle of life where our friends are having grandchildren and I've been sending out a lot of them! I bought the stamp set, Zoo Babies, exactly for that reason!

Love the colors in the I Am Me Designer Paper, so picked out the colors to use on my zoo animals!

The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Smoky Slate cardstock, folded in half. I used the Alphabet Press folder to emboss the front.
I cut a 2 1/4 x 4 1/4 piece of I Am Me Designer Paper, then added the Adorning Accent Edgelits scallop borders cut from Crushed Curry cardstock.
I cut a Window Frame (3rd from smallest) of Pool Party, then cut off the circle sides for a different look and to make it narrower. It was attached with Stampin' Dimensionals.
The giraffe was stamped with Crushed Curry ink and stamped on Whisper White, then cut out. I used Pool Party, Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate and Really Red makers to color the Toucan Bird image, then stamped on Whisper White and cut out. Both of them were placed with Stampin' Dimensionals on front.
I stamped "A gift for baby" from Zoo Babies with Smoky Slate ink on Whisper White strip, then cut flag ends.

Bear Hugs

Wow…I sat down yesterday to do some wedding cards and baby cards that I have REALLY been needing to do! I'm SO late getting them out. Is anyone else like that? I want to make a card SUPER special for someone and end up not getting it done in a timely manner! I mean, I know it will be appreciated any time I send it, but like the cobbler, I always work on my PERSONAL stuff last!

Anyway, I need a baby boy card for my NEW great-nephew, Mason! Welcome to the world, Mason! We already have another boy named Mason in our family on my side! Too funny! I pulled out Bear Hugs thinking that it was retiring and I'd use it one more time for my blog. But…then I see that it is NOT retiring…it is still available! I just LOVE using this set for baby cards…quick and easy to color and interchangeable for boy or girl!

I started with a base of Baja Breeze and layered on Soft Suede. I am trying to use up my retiring Designer Paper…this one is called Elegant Soiree is SO pretty in the muted earthy tones. (BE WATCHING! I will be offering NEW Ribbon and Designer Paper Shares on July 1st!!!)

I stamped baby bear with Black Stazon on Whisper White, then used my AquaPainter and Stampin' Write Markers to color him in Soft Suede, Baja Breeze and Crumb Cake. His diaper is painted with Moonlight Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink for a shimmery look! I punched with the 2 3/8 Scallop Circle and layered on the 2 1/2 Circle Punch of Soft Suede. I added a 1 3/4 punched circle of Crumb Cake. Then I used the Large Oval and punched out the Bear Hugs greeting from Whisper White and layered on the Scallop Oval of Baja Breeze. Finally, I added a Real Red punched Small Heart. Lots of punches, but I love this layout!

Busy day again, need to finish getting ready for my Stamp Club meeting tomorrow night! Hope you have a WONDERFUL day!

Cute & Cuddly – PPA38

My friend and co-designer for Create, Mary Brown, let me know about a sketch challenge this morning over on Pals Paper Arts. I've played with their challenges before, but hadn't been over there for a while…it was a good reminder to check them out! Sketch PPA38 was really fun. I needed a baby card for a friend of mine who just had a new grand-daughter born a couple weeks ago. I bet she is thrilled (and I hope she doesn't see this before I get it mailed to her!) At least the inside will be a surprise…I'm not going to show it here! lol!

I started with a base of Pretty in Pink cardstock and layered on one of the prints from Pawsitively Prints Designer Paper from Stampin' Up! The one made for the Build A Bear dies! I love the small prints in it. I added a strip of Whisper White and added two Scallop Edge Punch pieces in Certainly Celery cardstock. I wrapped the Pretty in Pink Striped Ribbon around and tied a knot.

For the focal element, I stamped the Sweet Little Baby scallop square image from Stampin' Up!'s Cute & Cuddly stamp set three times on Whisper White with Basic Black Classic Ink, then stamped it again three times on Pretty in Pink cardstock. I punched out the Whisper White images with the Scallop Square Punch and then cut the centers 3/4" to fit inside the squares and capture the Sweet Little Baby words. Those are popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals on a piece of Certainly Celery cardstock and I layered that on Whisper White.

I think this made a very sweet baby card and it was pretty easy to put together thanks to the fun sketch!

Punch Art – Birds

My Punch Classes did this card last month. I saw the idea for the birds over on SCS, but changed up the card. I wanted to feature how the Scallop Square Bigz Die could be used to make the base of the card. Isn’t this a cute new baby card?

I started by folding a 4 3/4 x 11 piece of Apricot Appeal cardstock in half, then I placed it on the Scallop Square Bigz die just below one edge of the scallops so that side wouldn’t cut thru. Voila…scallop card! I wheeled the background of the Whisper White cardstock with Whimsy Jumbo Wheel in Apricot Appeal and layered it on Bashful Blue cardstock. Then I used the Wide Oval and punched out a Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink oval from each color. I trimmed off just a slice of the oval, then used it for my wing. I added a beak from Apricot Appeal which is a 1/2 circle punch cut in half and adhered under the Wide Oval. I drew some stick bird legs and the eye with a Chocolate Chip marker. I stamped Hello Baby from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Chocolate Chip on Apricot Appeal and punched it with the Modern Label Punch. I placed it along the side and trimmed off the excess. Finally, I used my White Gel Pen and drew some circles in each of the scallops going around the card.

Fun card…pretty quick and easy to duplicate for those last minute baby cards you need!

Bunch of running to do today, meeting my upline for lunch (yeah!) and need to finish working on the Demo Round Up meeting for the Columbus area demos that is Sunday! Need to prep my Make & Take, plus get some display things put together. Can’t wait!
