CCMC401 Bear Hugs

Oh, it’s a FUN sketch challenge this week over on Create with Connie and Mary! I ended up making a couple cards with this sketch…will show you the other next week!

Here’s my first one using Bear Hugs:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Mint Macaron cardstock, folded in half.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White.
The checked pattern from It’s My Party is cut 3 x 3-1/4 and the corners rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder and adhered to the front.
A 1-3/4 x 4-3/4 strip of coordinating It’s My Party was flag cut on both ends and adhered over the other DSP.
A 1/4 x 5 strip of Mint Macaron was added down the front of the DSP towards the left side as per the sketch.
A 2-1/4 x 2-1/4 square of Sahara Sand also had the corners rounded. It is popped up on the front of the DSP towards the left side.
Across the front the greeting was stamped on 1/4 x 2-1/4 strip of Whisper White and adhered at the bottom of the Sahara Sand piece.
The bear from Bear Hugs was inked with the Basic Black Marker, then stamped on Whisper White and cut with the Bear Hugs Framelits. It is added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A few gold Neutrals Sequins were added to the front for a little bling.

That’s it! I love that little bear…need to use that set more before it retires with the Occasions Catalog (or maybe it won’t and it will be in the new catalog…I’ll find out for sure next week at On Stage! Woohoo!)

The theme this week on our Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Design Team Blog Hop is Love is in the Air! It’s that time of year! While I could have used the traditional Valentine set in the Occasions Catalog, Bloomin’ Love…I thought I’d use another one of the sets that you may not think of for Valentine’s Day cards…Bear Hugs!

Here are the details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Rose Red, folded in half.
On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, the 1 x 5-1/4 strip of Rose Red Hearts in the Love Blossoms Designer Paper Stack was placed down the left side.
Across is a 2 x 3-1/4 coordinating pattern in Love Blossoms DSP.
A 2″ punched circle of Rose Red was placed over the DSP.
The small bear was stamped with Early Espresso on Whisper White, then watercolored with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Markers. It was cut with the Bear Hugs Framelits and popped up on the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Three hearts were cut for the balloons from Crumb Cake, DSP and one stamped with Rose Red on Whisper White, then cut with the Framelits. They were added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Strings were hand-drawn with a Early Espresso Marker.
The bow-tie was cut from DSP and Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper…one for the bear’s head and one for the balloons!
Finally, an It’s My Party Enamel Dot was put in the center of the bow-tie on her head.

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Lions Tigers and Bears

LOVE the theme this week…Lions and Tigers and Bears…oh my! But, our design team can use ANY animal image that Stampin’ Up! makes! Our Create with Connie and Mary Design Team had SO much fun with theme!

I knew right away I wanted to use Bear Hugs…one of the stamp sets I’m using in an upcoming Mini Session! I had an idea of making different types of bears! So…here’s my version of a brown bear, a panda bear and a polar bear…all together to celebrate a birthday!

Here are the details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White folded in half.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic Gray cardstock.
On top of that is a 3-3/4 x 5 layer of the Sale-A-Bration Designer Paper, Perfectly Artistic…it has sort of a “sky” look to it. Along the bottom is a 1 x 5 piece off Pear Pizzazz and 1/8″ Silver Ribbon wrapped around and secured in the back.
For the brown bear, I stamped with Black Archival Ink on Whisper White and watercolored with Chocolate Chip Marker. The nose and ears I used the Crumb Cake Marker.
For the panda bear, I inked up the ears, arms, legs and around the eyes, nose and chest with a Basic Black Marker and stamped on Whisper White
For the polar bear, I inked up the edges with Smoky Slate Marker and the nose, eyes and mouth with Basic Black marker then stamped on Whisper White.
They were all cut with the Bear Hugs Framelits and added to the “ground” with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The greeting from Suite Sayings was stamped with Basic Black in the upper right corner.
The Banner was punched from Pear Pizzazz and added to the left top corner with a Perfect White Accent in the center.

Ok…what do you think? Like my bears? I have a couple more cards using them coming up to show you, too! I made several when I was playing around with them! Next up is my good friend, Mary Brown…or go back to see what Melissa Davies has done!

Another Bear Hugs

Today’s the day!!! The Create with Connie and Mary January Mini Session is now open and you can see all the great projects this month! I already shared the one Bear Hugs card I did for the Incentive Trip Achievers Swap last month. If you missed it, you can see it HERE! And, this is the one I did for the Control Freaks Swappers last month! I love the colors in the It’s My Party Designer Paper Pack…you are going to get sick of me saying and using it!

Here are the details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Melon Mambo, folded in half.
Along the left edge is a 1 x 5-1/2 strip of the confetti parttern in It’s My Party DSP Pack.
A 2-3/4 x 4 piece of Whisper White has a 1 x 4 piece of Mint Macaron cardstock torn and added to the bottom for the “ground” and a 1/4 x 4 strip of yellow stripe DSP from the same package added along the side. It is popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The bear was stamped with Basic Black Archival Ink on Whisper White and colored with Crumb Cake Marker and AquaPainter. He was cut with the Bear Hugs Framelits.
The Love you balloon was stamped with Basic Black Archival Ink on Melon Mambo and cut with the heart shape framelit in Bear Hugs. The bow was stamped with Basic Black on Crushed Curry and cut with the framelit.
Two more balloons were cut with the framelit, one with Crushed Curry Cardstock and one from the Mint Macaron print in the It’s My Party Paper Pack. They were assembled at the top right corner of the Whisper White with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The strings were hand-drawn with a Basic Black Marker to the Bear’s paw.
Finally, a Rhinestone jewel was added to the Crushed Curry balloon!

Isn’t that a sweet card! My grand-kids would love to get it, I’m sure!

Bear Hugs

Before the holidays, I participated in two different swaps. I used Bear Hugs on both of them. Here’s the first card that I did and made 16 of them for the Incentive Trip Swap. (I’ll show the second one next week). I love the It’s My Party Designer Paper Stack! SO many great patterns in it and I love the bright and soft color combination!

Here are the details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Mint Macaron cardstock, folded in half.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Crumb Cake cardstock.
Along the left side is a 1 x 5-1/4 strip of the confetti pattern from It’s My Party DSP, with a 1/4″ strip of the Melon Mambo stripe added along side it.
The Mint Macaron green print was cut to 2-1/2 x 3-1/2, then punched with the Triple Banner Punch (you need to feed it thru carefully as it is wider than the 2″ slot is). A 2″ circle was punched out of the center.
A 2″ punched circle of Whisper White was added behind the circle opening of the banner for contrast.
The bear from Bear Hugs was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Crumb Cake cardstock, then watercolored with the Chocolate Chip Marker and AquaPainter. It was cut with the Bear Hugs Framelits and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The bowtie was cut from the Mint Macaron print and added with a Mini Glue dot to the bear and a Rhinestone added in the center of the bowtie.
You’re so sweet was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink on Melon Mambo and punched with the Word Window Punch, then adhered under the bear.
The Love you balloon was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink on Melon Mambo and cut with the Bear Hugs Framelit and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A line was drawn with a Chocolate Chip Marker for the string on the balloon.

I loved it! Hope my swap partners liked it, too!

Bear Hugs

Wow…I sat down yesterday to do some wedding cards and baby cards that I have REALLY been needing to do! I'm SO late getting them out. Is anyone else like that? I want to make a card SUPER special for someone and end up not getting it done in a timely manner! I mean, I know it will be appreciated any time I send it, but like the cobbler, I always work on my PERSONAL stuff last!

Anyway, I need a baby boy card for my NEW great-nephew, Mason! Welcome to the world, Mason! We already have another boy named Mason in our family on my side! Too funny! I pulled out Bear Hugs thinking that it was retiring and I'd use it one more time for my blog. But…then I see that it is NOT retiring…it is still available! I just LOVE using this set for baby cards…quick and easy to color and interchangeable for boy or girl!

I started with a base of Baja Breeze and layered on Soft Suede. I am trying to use up my retiring Designer Paper…this one is called Elegant Soiree is SO pretty in the muted earthy tones. (BE WATCHING! I will be offering NEW Ribbon and Designer Paper Shares on July 1st!!!)

I stamped baby bear with Black Stazon on Whisper White, then used my AquaPainter and Stampin' Write Markers to color him in Soft Suede, Baja Breeze and Crumb Cake. His diaper is painted with Moonlight Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink for a shimmery look! I punched with the 2 3/8 Scallop Circle and layered on the 2 1/2 Circle Punch of Soft Suede. I added a 1 3/4 punched circle of Crumb Cake. Then I used the Large Oval and punched out the Bear Hugs greeting from Whisper White and layered on the Scallop Oval of Baja Breeze. Finally, I added a Real Red punched Small Heart. Lots of punches, but I love this layout!

Busy day again, need to finish getting ready for my Stamp Club meeting tomorrow night! Hope you have a WONDERFUL day!
