CCMC507 Flying Home

We have a color challenge this time on Create with Connie and Mary! I decided to use my Flying Home stamp set again on my card…soon it will be retired and I’ll need to put it away! It is another one that I may keep…love the birdhouse and the bird’s nest in it! We have some Blue Jays in our back yard…love to see their bright blue color in the trees!

Here’s what I designed:

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Crumb Cake cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The top portion of the 4 x 5-1/4 Island Indigo cardstock is embossed with the Seaside Embossing Folder and the bottom portion has a 2-1/4 x 4 piece of Coffee Break Designer Paper added.
A piece of White Metallic Edge Ribbon hides the seam.
A 1-1/2 x 4-1/2 banner of Crumb Cake was added down the front and cut with a flag end.
The nest image from Flying Home Stamp Set was stamped with Archival Black on Whisper White and cut with the Layering Oval Framelit. It was watercolored with Island Indigo, Crumb Cake, Old Olive and Crushed Curry Markers and the AquaPainter.

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Celebrating Birthdays

It’s time for a new Saturday Blog Hop! Continuing with our celebrations…this week our Design Team will be CELEBRATING BIRTHDAYS. We have a BUNCH of February birthdays in our family!

For this card, I’ve used Flying Home again! I love the little birdhouse hanging from the bouquet of flowers. It reminds me that I need to have my husband hang our birdhouse in the trees behind our house this spring. We see lots of Blue Jays, Yellow Finches, Cardinals, Woodpeckers, etc. Would love to see some more varieties of birds!

Stampin’ details:

The case is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Old Olive cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Crumb Cake cardstock , a 1 x 4 piece of Tutti-Fruitti Designer Paper was placed across the bottom.
The image was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Whisper White and colored with Stampin’ Blends…I think I had almost every color out! lol! It was cut with the large Stitched Shape Circle and layered on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Celebrate the Good Stuff from Picture Perfect Birthday was stamped with Memento Black Ink across the top.
Some Tutti-Fruitti Adhesive Sequins were added to the background.

SUOC194 Flying Home

The theme this time on SUO Challenges is “Casing the Catalog”. Shhh, I have a confession…I rarely even glance at the samples in the catalogs. Can you believe it? Really…I’m focused more on what the stamp sets and embellishments look like that I often overlook the samples. But, they are a GREAT source of inspiration! And this challenge is so fun…simply change up one of the catalog samples to make it your own!

I used the basic layout of the Picnic With You card on page 6 of the Occasions Catalog…and changed it by using my Flying Home stamp set! I was so happy to make my little birdies look like Robins! Can’t wait to see them this spring!

Stampin’ details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Sahara Sand cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The Tutti-Fruitt Designer Paper is cut 3-3/4 x 5 and added to the front.
A 1 x 5 strip of Bermuda Bay was placed across the front and stamped with the greeting from Hedgehugs in Memento Black Ink.
The Flying Home next was stamped with Memento Black on Whisper White cardstock and colored with Old Olive, Bronze, Crumb Cake and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends. It was cut with the large Stitched Shapes circle and added to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some Linen Thread was tied in a bow and added to the tree limb with a Mini Glue Dot.
A few Iridescent Sequins were sprinkled on the background for some bling.

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Celebrating Love

It’s time for a new Saturday Blog Hop! This week our Design Team will be CELEBRATING LOVE…this can be Valentine’s Day, Weddings, or whatever special occasion creates LOVE in your life!

For this card, I’ve combined two sets, Labels to Love and Flying Home! I’m glad it turned out the way it did in my head!

Stampin’ details:

The case is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Melon Mambo cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, a 1-3/4 x 5-1/4 piece of Painted with Love Designer Paper was added along the bottom. A coordinating 1/4 x 5-1/4 striped pattern in Painted with Love DSP was added above it.
Four small hearts from the Lots of Love Box Framelits were cut from Melon Mambo cardstock.
The LOVE greeting from Labels to Love was stamped with Memento Black Ink on scrap Whisper White cardstock, then hand-cut and adhered to the small hearts.
The two birds from Flying Home were stamped with Memento Black Ink on the Whisper White cardstock layer, then colored with Light Pool Party and Daffodil Delight Blends.
The Linen Thread was tied in a bow on one end and adhered to the beak of the bird with a Mini Glue Dot. Then other other end was tied in a bow and adhered, allowing for enough thread to slightly curve between them.
The hearts were added to the front with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

IM5 – Flying Home

Today’s Inspiration Monday photo really got my creative juices flowing and I hope yours are, too! I was inspired by the circles, the colors, and the movement in the picture.

Here’s my card. I really loved the Flying Home stamp set when I first saw it and ordered it right away, but it has taken me until today to use it! But here’s what I came up with…

Stampin’ details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White was added on top.
To add in all the colors, I cut a 1-1/2 x 3-3/4 rectangle of Soft Sky, a 1-3/4 x 3-1/4 rectangle of So Saffron and another one of Basic Gray. All were run thru the Seaside Embossing Folder. They were added to the Whisper White panel.
The nest of bluebirds from Flying Home stamp set was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Whisper White, then using Stampin’ Blends to color with light and dark Pool Party, Old Olive, Smoky Slate, and Crumb Cake, with a little Daffodil Delight for the beaks. It was cut with the Oval Stitched Shape and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Hello from Oh Happy Day was stamped with Memento Black on Soft Sky, then cut with the smaller Stitched Shape oval and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A yellow Glimmer Dot next to the word adds a little bling.
