IM36 – Rooted in Nature

Today’s inspiration photo really is getting me in the mood for fall…too bad the weather is still in the 90s here!!! Major heat wave! I love this glass plate for today’s inspiration and in my mind I saw two distinct “branches” of fall leaves, so I tried to recreate it with the leaves from Rooted in Nature.

Here’s what I came up with…I think I captured the overall look, don’t you? First time I’ve used the new Corrugated Embossing Folder, too! LOVE!!!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Crumb Cake cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock was embossed the new Corrugated Embossing Folder, then sponged with Crumb Cake Ink.
The new Braided Linen Trim was wrapped around and adhered in the back, then the Whisper White added to the card front.
The leaf from Rooted in Nature was stamped with Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Mossy Meadow and Poppy Parade on coordinating cardstock, then cut with the Nature’s Root Framelits. They were lightly sponged with Crumb Cake Ink and added in two “branches” of leaves on the front.
The greeting Give Thanks from Labels to Love was inked with Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso Markers, then stamped on Whisper White cardstock and punched with the 1-3/8 Circle Punch. It was added to the Pretty Label Punched from Crumb Cake and lightly sponged with Crumb Cake Ink. It was added over the Braided Linen Trim with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

IM30 – Rooted in Nature

It’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary’s Inspiration Monday!!! I admit…this inspiration really stumped me. If I had the new Sea of Textures stamp set/Under the Sea Framelits, I would have gone with that…but, I had to be little more “creative” and think out of the box on this one. Not sure if I truly captured it, but it did inspire my card and I guess that is the most important point!

I used the Rooted in Nature stamp set mostly because this leaf reminded me of the inspiration piece, and I went with similar colors.

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Gray Granite cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Tranquil Tide cardstock.
Three of the leaves were stamped with Tranquil Tide ink on Whisper White cardstock and cut with the Nature’s Roots Framelits.
The leaves were layered on the scallop squares from the Layering Squares Framelits, cut from Gray Granite cardstock and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals on the front of a 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Whisper White cardstock.
The greeting from Rooted in Nature was stamped with Tranquil Tide at the bottom.
Two large Rhinestone Jewels were placed on each side of the greeting.

June 2018 – Alaska Achievers Blog Hop

I’m happy to be able to play along again this month with the Alaska Achievers Monthly Blog Hop! This blog hop is for those of us who have earned the Stampin’ Up! Alaska Incentive trip in July! Wow! Only a few more weeks until we go! Our theme this month is new catalog products! You are at my blog, Connie Babbert, and you’ll continue around the blog hop by clicking on the link under my name in the bottom list. When I was creating my Rooted in Nature flower for last Monday’s post (SEE THAT BLOG POST HERE!), I got to thinking that it would be gorgeous done in red for a poinsettia! (A lot of you mentioned the same thing to me!)…so I created the same card with new colors for a Christmas Poinsettia using the small and large Rooted in Nature leaves!

Since a poinsettia is more oblong shaped than round, I moved the leaves around a little when adhering so they were more oval.

Stampin’ Details:

The base of the card is 4-1/4 x 11, scored at 2-3/4 x 5-1/2. The card is folded in half, then the front panel is folded back on itself.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Under the Mistletoe Designer Paper was added to the inside panel.
To create the flower, I started by stamping 7 of the large leaves and 6 of the smaller leaves with Cherry Cobbler Ink on Poppy Parade cardstock. They were cut out with the Framelits.
I punched a 2-1/4″ circle and covered it with Snail adhesive, then began with the larger leaves and formed the background poinsettia in an oval shape.
On the smaller leaves I placed the adhesive on the back and layered over the large ones. I curled all the petals slightly for a natural look.
In the center are three large Gold Faceted Gems.
The flower was added to the front panel, hanging over the edge.
For the actual “leaves” of the poinsettia, I stamped 5 leaves with Shaded Spruce Ink on Shaded Spruce cardstock, then cut out with the Framelit and tucked them under the poinsettia on the front panel.
Finally, the greeting from Stylish Christmas stamp set was stamped with Memento Black Ink on a 3/4 x 3-3/4 strip of Whisper White, the end was flag cut and tucked under one of the petals.
Inside, I stamped the second greeting from Stylish Christmas with Memento Black Ink on Whisper White, then cut with the Stitched Labels Framelits (LOVE those!)

Isn’t that a gorgeous, BIG poinsettia. I can see these adorning the top of a gift or box, too!

IM26 – Rooted in Nature

It’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary’s Inspiration Monday!!! I love this lacy looking flower and I knew immediately what I wanted to do!

I used the large and small leaves from Rooted in Nature Bundle to create my large yellow flower! And paired it with the polka dot pattern in the Brights Designer Paper Package…I love that we have the DSP in all colors again AND that they feature polka dots and stripes…my favorites!

This is a Z-fold card, so here is what it looks like open.

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Whisper White, scored at 2-3/4 and 5-1/2. It is folded in half and the front panel is folded back on itself.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Daffodil Delight Brights Designer Paper was added to the inside panel.
To create the flower, I started by stamping 7 of the large leaves with Crushed Curry Ink on Whisper White. Next is 6 of the smaller leaf stamped with Crushed Curry Ink on Daffodil Delight cardstock. They were cut out with the framelit.
I punched a 2″ circle and covered it with Snail adhesive, then began with the larger leaves and formed the background flower.
On the smaller leaves I placed the adhesive on the back and layered over the large ones. I curled all the petals slightly for a natural look.
In the center is a large Gold Faceted Gem.
The flower was added to the front panel, hanging over the edge.
For the actual “leaves” of the flower, I stamped with Granny Apple Green Ink on Granny Apple Green cardstock, then cut out with the framelit and tucked them under the flower on the front panel.
Finally, the greeting was stamped with Early Espresso Ink on Whisper White and hand cut and adhered on the DSP.

CCMC512 – Rooted in Nature

I love a good sketch challenge and I LOVE Rooted in Nature bundle! I had fun with the sketch challenge for today on Create with Connie and Mary!

With the temps in Ohio SO hot this week (I’m NOT complaining!), it was nice to think of cool shade trees while I made this card.

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 NEW Shaded Spruce cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
A 4 x 5 piece of Crumb Cake has a 1-3/4 x 5 and 3/4 x 5 piece of two different patterns from Nature’s Poem Desinger Paper adhered towards the bottom.
The tree slice was stamped with Crumb Cake Ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and cut out. The greeting was stamped on top with Soft Suede Ink. It is popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The trio leaves and ginkgo (?) leaf were stamped with Shaded Spruce Ink on Whisper White and cut with the Nature’s Roots Framelits. The trio leaf was watercolored with a little more Shaded Spruce Ink and an AquaPainter. They were added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some Calypso Coral Twine from Nature’s Twine package was tied in a bow and added to the leaves with a Mini Glue Dot.

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Favorite New Preorder Product

Oh gosh! Only a couple more weeks until the new catalog goes LIVE on June 1st! I have a BIG wish list…how about you? But, Stampin’ Up! has given us a TASTE of the new catalog by allowing demos to preorder certain items! The theme for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary’s Saturday Blog Hop is our favorite new preorder product! Of course…I have MANY more than ONE favorite…all the new colors for sure! But, I do LOVE the new Rooted in Nature stamp set, so I went with that one.

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Mint Macaron cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock, the leaf was stamped with Pool Party at the top, then Mint Macaron, then Bermuda Bay and finally Shaded Spruce at the bottom. I thought these colors complemented each other VERY well and I liked the dark to light alternating contract!
The You Are Wonderful greeting from Rooted in Nature was stamped with Memento Black Ink.
A few Pool Party Adhesive Sequins and Rhinestones add a little JAZZ to the card.

I think it is pretty elegant for a simple card, don’t you? No designer paper, no framelits, just stamping!
