Saturday Blog Hop – Casing Lori de Groot 2023

It’s Saturday and time for our Create with Connie and Mary Blog Hop. For the next several weeks we will be “Casing the Designer”. Each week we have picked a designer and will select a card she designed. We will use the Colors and Layout of her design and recreate our version using stamps/bundles from the September-December Mini Catalog!

This week we are “Casing Lori de Groot”! I picked a Christmas card from last year to case!

SENDING CHEER

I used the new stamp bundle, Sending Cheer, for my case the designer card this week!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Joy of Christmas Designer Paper was added on top.
The Scallop Contour Die was cut from Basic White cardstock and embossed with the Snowflake Sky Embossing Folder, then added to the front.
The stocking was stamped with Real Red Ink on Basic White and cut with the Sending Cheer Die, along with an extra cuff cut from Basic White cardstock. It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The holly leaves were stamped with Shaded Spruce Ink and berries with Poppy Parade Ink on Basic White and cut with the Dies. They were added to the stocking.
Some In Color Baker’s Twine was tied in a bow and added under the holly with a Mini Glue Dot.
A 3/4 x 2 piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock was cut at an angle and tucked next to the stocking.
Sending Cheer was stamped with Poppy Parade Ink on scrap Basic White, then hand-cut and added to the Shaded Spruce strip.
A trio of Tinsel Gems 4-pack were added to the background.

CCMC785 – Merry & Bright

It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. This week we have a fun sketch for you to try!

MERRY & BRIGHT

I thought of this set immediately when I saw the sketch! I was hoping I could use the light string as one of the elements.

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Shaded Spruce cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Lemon Lime Twist is embossed with the crosshatch Basics Embossing Folder (Online Exclusive).
A 1 x 5-1/2 strip of Merry Bold & Bright DSP is added down the right side.
A 3 x 3-1/2 piece of Basic White cardstock was added on the front.
The light string is cut with the Merry & Bright Die from Shaded Spruce cardstock.
The lights were stamped with Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst and Crushed Curry Inks, the filaments with Smoky Slate Ink on Basic White and cut with the Dies.
The light ends were cut from Silver Foil with the Dies and adhered to the lights, then threaded on the light strand and added to the front of the Basic White c/s with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some Wink of Stella was added to each of the light bulbs.
Merry & Bright greeting was stamped with Shaded Spruce Ink on Basic White cardstock, then hand-cut and added to the front.
A trio of varied colored Iridescent Adhesive Backed Disks were added to the background.

IM298 – Autumn Leaves

Welcome back to our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenges. We have a wonderful pottery piece to inspire you!

AUTUMN LEAVES

I kind of struggled with the focus on with my card using this inspiration until I noticed the leaf in the bottom corner, so went in that direction!

Details:

- The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Midnight Muse cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded to form the base card.
- A 4 x 5-1/4 piece of Earthen Elegance Designer Paper was added to the background.
- A 3/4 x 4 strip of Silver Foil (Online Exclusive) was added across the front.
- Two large leaves from Autumn Leaves were stamped with Boho Blue Ink and detail with Misty Moonlight Ink on Basic White cardstock, then hand cut to get the inked stem (you could use the die and add the detail die for the stem!) They were added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- The greeting was stamped with Misty Moonlight Ink on Basic White cardstock and cut with the label in the Autumn Leaves Dies. It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- A trio of silver Neutral Sequins were added to the background.

CCMC784 – Wishes All Around

It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. This week we have a pretty color combination for you to try.

WISHES ALL AROUND

I’m using one of my new sets, Wishes All Around. I just LOVE the snowflake wreath! I think I bought the bundle just for that one die! lol! But, you already know I love my snowflakes!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Boho Blue c/s, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White was blended with Boho Blue Ink using a Blending Brush. The snowflake trio was also stamped off several times in the background with Boho Blue Ink.
A 1-1/2 x 4 piece of One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Paper was added to the bottom of the Basic White.
The 1/4 x 4 strip of Misty Moonlight c/s was added to hide the seam.
The snowflake wreath was cut from Fresh Freesia c/s with the Die and adhered to the top.
The greeting from Wishes All Around was stamped with Misty Moonlight Ink and cut with the Deckled Circles Die and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A trio of blue Tinsel Gems Three Pack were added to the wreath.
The silver Simply Elegant Trim was tied in a bow and added at the top of the wreath.

CS106 – Cottage Wreaths

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Mary and I will pick a theme. This month the theme is Monochromatic cards!

COTTAGE WREATHS

I was happy that the Cottage Wreaths Bundle carried over from last year’s catalog since I hadn’t used it much! I thought a summer wreath would be pretty!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Soft Sea Foam cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 2-3/4 x 5-1/2 piece of Hello Irresistible Designer Paper (Online Exclusive) was added to a 3 x 5-1/2 piece of Basic White cardstock, then adhered down the center of the base card.
The wreath branches were stamped with Mossy Meadow Ink on Basic White cardstock, then the leaves with Garden Green Ink over top. It was cut with the Cottage Wreaths Dies and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The bow was cut with the Dies from Soft Sea Foam cardstock and added with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.
The greeting was stamped with Garden Green Ink directly on the DSP.

IM297 – Color & Contour

Welcome back to our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenges. We have a wonderful wall hanging to inspire you today!

COLOR & CONTOUR

I debated on whether or not to use Cheerful Daisies on today’s card but saw the daisy shape flower in Color & Contour, so pulled it out instead! I think it worked great!

Details:

- The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Copper Clay cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded to form the base card.
- The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Pebbled Path cardstock was embossed with the Timber Embossing Folder and adhered to the base card.
- The Joy of Christmas DSP was cut with the Scallop Contour Die and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- The daisy flower was stamped three times with Pebbled Path Ink on Basic White cardstock, then filled with Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze Inks. The centers were sponged with Pebbled Path Ink. They were cut with the Scallop Contour Dies and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- The leaves were stamped with Pebbled Path Ink on Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, then hand-cut and added under the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- The greeting from Color & Contour was stamped with Pebbled Path Ink on 3/4 x 2-3/4 strip of Basic White and the ends cut at an angle. It was added with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Three large Pebbled Path In Color Glossy Dots were added to the center of the flowers slightly offset.

CCMC783 – Sparkling Snowflakes

It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. This week we have a fun sketch for you to try.

SPARKLING SNOWFLAKES

How about some non-traditional colored snowflakes? I love this color combination! This would be a great card for Christmas cards if you had a bunch to make! Quick and easy!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Coastal Cabana c/s, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The 3 x 4-3/4 piece of Basic White cardstock has been randomly stamped with the three sizes of detail snowflakes in Lemon Lime Twist, Melon Mambo and Coastal Cabana.
Two 1/2 x 4-1/4 strips of Lemon Lime Twist were added behind the Basic White panel, then adhered to the front of the card.
The greeting was stamped with Memento Black Ink on a 3/4 x 3-1/4 piece of Melon Mambo and the ends cut at an angle.
A trio of Adhesive Backed Iridescent Discs in three colors were added to the background and greeting for a nice sparkle!

CS105 – Warmest Heart

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Mary and I will pick a theme. This month the theme is Monochromatic cards!

WARMEST HEART

This is a fun new set in the Sept-Dec 2023 Mini Catalog! I remember my dad always carrying a thermos with him when farming! This one I made in the Bubble Bath color that is SO cute and feminine! I did add just a “touch” of green for the leaves.

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Bubble Bath cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 3 x 4-1/4 piece of Delightfully Eclectic Designer Paper was added across the center.
The Scallop Contour Die was cut from Basic White cardstock and the “ground” colored with Light Bubble Bath Stampin’ Blends. It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The thermos from Warmest Heart is stamped with Memento Black Ink outline, then Bubble Bath Ink for the plaid inside. It is cut with the Warmest Heart Die.
The flower was stamped with Memento Black Ink and colored with Bubble Bath and a touch of Lemon Lime Twist, then cut with the dies. Both were added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Get Well Soon was stamped with Memento Black Ink and cut with the little label die. It was added with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I think I’m obsessed with this color combination…even though this one is mostly monochromatic! The touch of green makes it pop! Make sure to check out Mary’s Creatively Simple card over on Create with Connie and Mary!
