Creatively Simple 16 – Christmas

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Christmas” and we each create a simple card every week using that theme! We are definitely on the countdown to Christmas now!

I’ve been surprised how much I ended up using the Whimsical Trees Bundle, especially the dies! However, this tree die cut has been sitting on my desk for a while from another project I started. I also haven’t used the Stitched Whimsy dies lately. Thought it was perfect to frame my tree this week! Check out yesterday’s Snowbody Better card for the same concept that I used on THIS card! They do look totally different!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Pool Party cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
I used the rectangle from the Stitched Whimsy Dies in the background on the front, centered.
A 1-1/2 x 4 piece of Basic White was torn across the top, then added to the bottom.
The tree was cut from Shaded Spruce cardstock with the Christmas Tree Dies, then adhered to Basic White and trimmed around the edges to give it a look of snow on the branches. It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Happy Holidays from Poinsettia Petals was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White cardstock, then punched with the Double Oval Punch and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A trio of iridescent Cute Stars were added to the background and the tree.

Saturday Blog Hop – Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree

This month our Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop is featuring blog hop themes from popular Christmas carols. This week is the song “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”…but we can use any types of trees on our cards.

WHIMSICAL TREES

I’ve had this tree and background sitting in pieces on my desk for probably a month. I had started a card with it and then changed my mind. So, this challenge encouraged me to get the pieces out again and finish the card! Of course, I pulled the colors from the Whimsy & Wonder Designer Paper!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Misty Moonlight cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Blushing Bride cardstock was added on top.
A 1 x 4 strip of Whimsy & Wonder DSP was added to the bottom.
A Wonderful Snowflake was adhered to the upper left corner.
The solid tree in the Christmas Trees Dies was cut from Polished Pink cardstock and the garland from Rose Gold Metallic Paper. It was adhered together, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The Stitched Snowflakes were cut from Soft Sea Foam and Misty Moonlight cardstocks, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Tis the Season from Christmas to Remember (I love this type of greeting image!) was inked with Misty Moonlight and stamped on Basic White cardstock, then hand-cut and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Many Genial Gems were added to the center of the snowflakes and the background!

Hello! It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. This week is a fun sketch challenge!

WHIMSICAL TREES BUNDLE

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE the little bottle brush trees in the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set? So much fun! I let my card focus on the small trees in this set!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Basic White, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whimsy & Wonder Designer Paper (love that subtle print!)
A 2-1/4 x 3-3/4 piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock was stamped with the greeting from Whimsical Trees in Misty Moonlight Ink in the upper left corner.
A 7/8 x 5 piece of striped Whimsy & Wonder DSP was cut on the end at an angle and added across the front.
a 1/4 x 4-1/4 piece of Silver Foil was added on top and cut the end at an angle, too.
The small tree was stamped off with Polished Pink Ink and the bottle brush tree stamped with Misty Moonlight Ink on Basic White cardstock. They were cut with the Christmas Tree Dies and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The garland and ornaments were cut from Polished Pink cardstock and added to the trees.
Two iridescent Cute Stars were added to the tree tops.
