Creatively Simple 17 – Stitched Snowflakes

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Christmas” and we each create a simple card every week using that theme! For our last week, we are focusing on winter thank you cards since it is after Christmas.

I love these Stitched Snowflake Dies…I think they are one of the best ones that Stampin’ Up! has designed. And you know I have had ALL the snowflake sets! The stitching just adds so much interest and texture! I also love this color combination for winter (as you can tell from our Create logo!) I’ve had these snowflakes sitting on my desk from different projects that I didn’t use them on. They came together on this card pretty easily!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Fresh Freesia is “embossed” with the snowflake border die in Stitched Snowflakes Dies, then stamped with some background snow in Fresh Freesia Ink towards the bottom right.
The Stitched Snowflakes were cut from Basic White and Pool Party cardstock, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Thank You So Much from Inspired Thoughts Stamp Set was stamped with Memento Black Ink on 1/2 x 3-1/2 piece of Pool Party cardstock, the end cut at an angle and adhered over the solid snowflake with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A trio of white Subtle Shimmer Sequins were adhered in the background.

CCMC694 – Merry Snowflakes

Hello! It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. This week’s color challenge is completely up to us! What is our FAVORITE Christmas Color Combination? I could have gone with the traditional red and greens…we have MANY shades to use. But my holiday cards always have snowflakes or snowmen on them and I tend to choose blues for my cards.

MERRY SNOWFLAKES

Isn’t this a pretty color combination? Misty Moonlight, Fresh Freesia and Coastal Cabana has become this year’s favorite!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Fresh Freesia cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 2-1/2 x 5-1/4 piece of In Color 6×6 DSP was added to the right side.
The 3 x 5-1/4 piece of Basic White cardstock was cut with the Basic Border curved Die and added to the left side overlapping the DSP.
The snowflakes were cut with the Stitched Snowflakes Dies from Misty Moonlight, Fresh Freesia and Coastal Cabana and adhered with Monoadhesive Glue along the curve.
Merry Everything greeting was stamped with Coastal Cabana Ink on 3/4 x 3-3/4 strip of Basic White cardstock and the left side angled.
A 1/2 x 3-1/4 strip of Coastal Cabana cardstock was added under the greeting strip, then both added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some Playing with Patterns Resin Dots were added to the center of the snowflakes and to the background!

Saturday Blog Hop – Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree

This month our Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop is featuring blog hop themes from popular Christmas carols. This week is the song “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”…but we can use any types of trees on our cards.

WHIMSICAL TREES

I’ve had this tree and background sitting in pieces on my desk for probably a month. I had started a card with it and then changed my mind. So, this challenge encouraged me to get the pieces out again and finish the card! Of course, I pulled the colors from the Whimsy & Wonder Designer Paper!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Misty Moonlight cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Blushing Bride cardstock was added on top.
A 1 x 4 strip of Whimsy & Wonder DSP was added to the bottom.
A Wonderful Snowflake was adhered to the upper left corner.
The solid tree in the Christmas Trees Dies was cut from Polished Pink cardstock and the garland from Rose Gold Metallic Paper. It was adhered together, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The Stitched Snowflakes were cut from Soft Sea Foam and Misty Moonlight cardstocks, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Tis the Season from Christmas to Remember (I love this type of greeting image!) was inked with Misty Moonlight and stamped on Basic White cardstock, then hand-cut and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Many Genial Gems were added to the center of the snowflakes and the background!

Saturday Blog Hop – Fun-Shaped Cards

This week’s Create with Connie and Mary blog hop theme is “Fun-Shaped Cards”! I was SO excited with this theme! I love thinking outside the box on some cards! This one was QUITE fun!

STITCHED SNOWFLAKES DIES

I found a Winter Hat Template online and printed it to the size needed to fit in a standard envelope. Or this would make a large card/tag for the outside of a gift bag!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Mint Macaron, scored at 4-1/4. I used the template to trace around the hat onto the cardstock, making sure to leave the score line at the top uncut so it folds in half.
The template was shrunk slightly and printed again. It was traced on the Whimsy & Wonder Designer Paper Mint Macaron print and the cuff of the winter hat on the stripe pattern. It was adhered to the base card.
The Stitched Snowflakes were cut from Polished Pink and Basic White and adhered together and added to the hat with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The leaves were punched with the Symmetrical Stems Border Punch from Mossy Meadow cardstock and tucked under the snowflakes.
Tis the Season from Christmas to Remember stamp set was stamped with Misty Moonlight Ink on Basic White cardstock and hand-cut, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The White Chalk Pen was used to draw the stitching around the edge of the card.
A 1-3/8 Layering Circle was cut from Polished Pink cardstock, embossed with the Bark Embossing Folder, and added to the top of the stocking.
Finally, a pink Playing With Patterns Resin Dot was added to the center of the snowflake for a little bling.

IM195 – Penguin Place

Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenge! This week we have some fun penguin cookies for our inspiration piece!

PENGUIN PLACE

Of course…I just had to use Stampin’ Up!’s Penguin Place Stamp Set along with the Stitched Snowflake Dies for my card!

Stampin’ Details:

- The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Polished Pink cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
- The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock was embossed with the snowflake Wintery Embossing Folder. (I ran it thru twice so I covered the entire front.)
- A circle was cut from the Whimsy & Wonder Designer Paper with the Layering Circles Dies and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Snowflakes were cut from Polished Pink, Blushing Bride and Fresh Freesia cardstock with the Stitched Snowflakes Dies and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- The penguin body was punched from Basic Black, the inside from Basic White, and the feet from Pumpkin Pie cardstock with the Penguin Builder Punch.
- The eyes were stamped with Memento Black Ink and the nose with Pumpkin Pie Ink on the inside Basic White body.
- The scarf and hat from Penguin Place stamp set were stamped with Fresh Freesia ink on Basic White cardstock and hand-cut, then added to the penguin. The penguin was added to the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Season’s Greetings was stamped with Polished Pink Ink on Basic White and cut with the 1″ Layering Circle.
- Subtle Shimmer Sequins were added to the circle and the center of the snowflakes for a little bling.
