Saturday Blog Hop – Winter Wonderland

This month our Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop is featuring blog hop themes from popular Christmas carols.  This week is the song “Winter Wonderland” and will run for TWO WEEKS so our Design Team can enjoy the holidays!  We’ll be back on January 1st!  Wishing you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

CLOCHE DIES

I love the little tree dies in the Cloche Dies Set, so knew I had to create a little winter “scene” with them!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Smoky Slate cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock is embossed with the Timber Embossing Folder and added to the front.
  • A 1-1/2 x 5-1/4 strip of Silver Metallic Paper is added down the center.
  • A 3-1/4 x 3-1/2 piece of the snowflake pattern in Peaceful Place Designer Paper has a 1 x 3-1/4 piece of Basic White cut on a curve for the “snowbank” at the bottom.  It is added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The greeting from Snowbody Better was stamped with Basic Gray Ink on the snowbank.
  • The trees were cut from Basic White cardstock and Silver Metallic Paper and added along the top of the snowbank with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The birch trees adhered in the back.
  • Some silver Simply Elegant Trim was tied in a knot and added to the larger tree with a Mini Glue Dot.

CCMC Week 3 Favor – Wonderful Winterland

I used the cute little set, Wonderful Winterland, for my card set this past week on Create with Connie and Mary Card "Create"tions.  We are finishing up the edition by showing our last favors with the sets that the Design team used this week!  Check them all out on Create with Connie and Mary.  Combine our favors with the matching card sets we did this week and you have a CLASS all ready to go!

 

My little favor is a smaller version of the Box #2 XL die we used to carry.  It is quick and easy to make with a 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 piece of cardstock or designer paper!

 

Here are the details:

  1. Cut a 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 square of Pool Party cardstock.
  2. On one side, score at 1 1/2, 3, 4 1/2 and 6, turn and score at 1 1/2 and 5.
  3. Cut the two tabs for the end with the 1/2" tab on each side for form the box lid.  The 1/2' tab will fold into the box (see diagram).
  4. Cut slits from the sides to the score lines (4 of them) to form the box sides.
  5. Round the corners of the 1/2" lid.
  6. Stamp the outsides before you put it together, I used the snow flurries from Winter Wonderland in Pool Party ink.
  7. Fold the rounded tabs inside the box, use the center tab ends to cover the sides from the bottom up, use Sticky Strip to close.
  8. Tuck in the flap.
  9. Cut the large Apothecary Accent from Primrose Petals coordinating cardstock.  Emboss with the Lacy Brocade folder
  10. Pierce a hole in one point of the Accent.
  11. Lay the Accent on the box and mark the inside where it folds across the top of the box, you will score on these lines.
  12. Cut off any excess tab on the back.
  13. Adhere Pool Party Baker's Twine from the top and around the bottom of the box, leave enough to wrap around the brad on the front.
  14. Adhere the back and top portions of the Accent to the box, leave the front flap un-adhered so it will open.
  15. Add the Vintage Brad the front.
  16. Bring the twine up to secure the box closed by wrapping it around the brad.
  17. Decorate the top with the Wonderful Winterland image, stamped in Black Stazon and watercolored with Primrose Pink, Pool Party and Raspberry Ripple Markers. 
  18. Punch with the Decorative Label Punch.
  19. Adhere a 1/2" x 3 1/2 strip of Silver Glimmer Paper across box lid, add the Decorative Label Punch with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  20. Stamp Merry from Border Banter in Raspberry Ripple and punch with Small Jewelry Tag punch.  Tuck under brad on front.

CCMC224 – Winter Wonderland

Woohoo!!!  Time for a color challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary.  Since we are just getting ready to start our Holiday/Winter Card "Create"tions Edition, I thought I'd use these non-traditional colors for a winter/holiday card! 

 

 

I used Winter Wonderland, these little ducks are just TOO cute!  Lots of details and texture on here, too!

 

 

Here's the details:

  1. Base card is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Lucky Limeade folded in half.
  2. 3 3/4 x 4 layer of So Saffron on top.
  3. I ran the 3 1/2 x 3 3/4 layer of Whisper White thru the Big Shot with the Elegant Lines Folder to emboss.
  4. I cut an Apothecary Accent Framelit from Island Indigo and used the piercing tool and mat around the edges.
  5. I stamped the ducks with Black Stazon and watercolored with my AquaPainter and So Saffron, Lucky Limeade and Island Indigo Stampin' Write Markers.
  6. I stamped Merry Christmas from Family Reunion in Island Indigo on So Saffron strip and cut the flag end.
  7. Finally, I tied a bow from Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon and placed an Island Indigo Printed Brad in the center.

It's time for another Thursday Challenge on Create with Connie and Mary!  It's a sketch this week, and a FUN one at that!  As usual, I'm amazed at our Challenge Team and how many different looks they can make with one sketch. 

 

 

In my opinion, Winter Wonderland is one of the cutest "winter" theme stamps we've had in a long while.  I like that they aren't Christmasy…just wintery ideas!  Hmmm, maybe I should use this set for my Christmas cards.  I always do a snowflake or snowman theme, but this sort of fits, don't you think?  In fact…I really like this card…maybe I should use it for my card this year!

 

 

OK…here are the details!

  1. The base of the card is Cherry cobbler, cut 4 1/4 x 11 and folded in half.
  2. The layer of 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White I ran thru the Big Shot on only the top half with the Perfect Polka Dots folder.
  3. I added the 2 x 5" strip of Snow Festival Designer Paper diagonally across the Whisper White, then trimmed off the extra on the sides.
  4. I stamped Happy Christmas from More Merry Messages in Cherry Cobbler under the DSP.
  5. Cut the Apothecary Accents piece from Cherry Cobbler, layer on a rectangle of Silver Glimmer paper inside.
  6. Stamp the ice skater image with Black Stazon.  I used my AquaPainter and Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler, Blush Blossom (face), Pink Pirouette (cheeks) and Bashful Blue (snowflakes & ice) to color.
  7. I punched with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch, then layered on a 2" Gumball Green circle.
  8. Finally, I added Rhinestone jewels to her hat and the top and bottom of the Apothecary Accent piece.

Although this definitely is Christmas themed, change the colors and greeting for any winter occasion!
