April 2019 – Greek Isles Achievers Blog Hop

Time for our monthly Greek Isles Achievers Blog Hop! The theme this month is New Catalog products.  Those that were at OnStage will have some sneak peeks, but I wasn’t able to attend.  I am using a stamp set and punch that WILL carryover to the new catalog, Butterfly Gala!  We waited forever for it, didn’t we?  You are here at my blog, Connie Babbert, and you can continue around to all the blog hop stops by clicking on the name under mine on the list at the bottom of this post.

BUTTERFLY GALA

I used a special fun fold on my card, too!  The front panel is narrower than the base and folds up!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 Night of Navy cardstock.
  • I cut a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Melon Mambo cardstock.
  • The Whisper White panel is cut 3 x 5-3/4, then scored at 1/2″.  The 1/2″ flap is placed behind the Melon Mambo layer and the entire layer adhered to the base Night of Navy cardstock.
  • A 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 piece of Neutrals DSP (Night of Navy stripe) was added to the front of the Whisper White panel.
  • The greeting from Butterfly Gala was stamped with Night of Navy on Whisper White cardstock, then cut with the Stitched Labels Framelits (YES!  These are in the NEW catalog!)  It was placed on the front panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The butterflies from Butterfly Gala were stamped with Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight Inks and punched with the Butterfly Duet Punch.
  • The bodies of the butterflies were stamped with Night of Navy Ink.  They were popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots were added to the bodies of the butterflies for a little bling.
  • Inside, one of the extra little butterflies was added.  It is hidden by the flap on front.

Wonderful Romance

Woohoo!  I had time to do another challenge this week!  I was so excited to see the Freshly Made Sketches for this week.

WONDERFUL ROMANCE

Here’s what I came up with using the Wonderful Romance stamp set and Botanical Butterfly Designer Paper (FREE Level 1 Sale-a-bration!)  If you don’t have this paper, you need to GRAB it before the end of the month!  I’ve punched out the butterflies on one of the sheets and have a container full of them already to “land” on my cards!  lol!  SO easy!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Grapefruit Grove cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Sahara Sand, embossed with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder.
  • A 1-1/2 x 4 piece of the black stripe from Botanical Butterfly DSP was added across the front.
  • The greeting from Wonderful Romance was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Whisper White, then cut with the label in the Wonderful Floral Framelits.  It was adhered slightly under the DSP.
  • The leaves were stamped twice on Whisper White, colored with the Dark & Light Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends, then cut with the Wonderful Floral Framelits and added to the front with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The butterfly was punched with the Butterfly Duet Punch from the Botanical Butterfly DSP and added with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of Pearls were added to the body of the butterfly for a little bling!

LOVE it!!!  SO happy with how it turned out!

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – I Believe I Can Fly

This month Create with Connie and Mary is featuring “music in the 90s” themes!!!  One of the songs I remember hearing a LOT was “I Believe I Can Fly”…can you hear it in your mind now?  So, our Design Team was challenge with cards that have birds, bugs or other flying elements!  So…I went with BUTTERFLIES!  Did you know there is a butterfly in the Pop of Petals stamp set?

 

 

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 1-1/2 x 5-1/4 piece of Brights Designer Paper was added to the bottom of the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Gorgeous Grape cardstock.
  • The butterflies were stamped with Memento Black three times across the front of the 2 x 5-1/4 strip of Whisper White, then the “flowers” were stamped with Pineapple Punch, Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green, then punched with the Four Petal Punch and adhere on top of the butterflies.
  • A string of 4 small pearls were placed down the center of the butterflies for their bodies.
  • A 1/2 x 5-1/4 piece of Basic Black Cardstock was adhered under the Whisper White cardstock, then added to the front of the card.
  • It’s Your Day from Happy Birthday Gorgeous was stamped with Memento Black Ink across the top right corner.

Watercolor Wings

I really have been working hard in my studio using lots of the new products in the Holiday Catalog…unfortunately they are for swaps and future classes so I can’t show them off yet!  Soon, I hope!  So…I finally sat down and played with the colors to make a Monarch looking butterfly with Watercolor Wings for my Stamp Club last month.  Here’s a card I made with a leftover butterfly!

 

Watercolor Wings

Here are the details on how to recreate this card:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Whisper White, folded in half.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Pool Party was embossed across the top 2/3s with the Elegant Dots Embossing folder.  A strip of Cherry on Top Washi Tape is placed under the embossed area.
  • The 2 x 4-3/4 Whisper White was punched with the Ornate Tag Topper Punch, then Calypso Coral Seam Binding was placed thru the hole with Daffodil Delight Baker’s Twine tied in a bow.
  • You are so kind from Watercolor Wings was stamped with Hello Honey Ink at the bottom of the tag.  A 1/8 x 2-1/2 strip of Calypso Coral cardstock was added to the tag, and then a Perfect White Accent added on it.  The tag is popped up on the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The Watercolor Wings butterfly was stamped with Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral and Watercolor Wonder Inks and cut with the new Bold Butterfly Thinlets.  A Basic Black outline butterfly from Butterfly Thinlets was cut and adhered over top.  I love how both sets of butterfly framelits work with each other!  I added the butterfly to the tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

OK…love it!  Hope you are inspired, too!  Those butterflies are so much fun to make!

I really like Kinda Eclectic…more for a base or background set than a feature one…but it is good for BOTH!  This one I featured Kinda Eclectic exclusively!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Lost Lagoon, folded in half.
  • On the 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White, I stamped the dotted image twice…once full strength and once stamped off towards the left side.
  • Then I added the sun image in Hello Honey Ink above it and the greeting below it.
  • The butterflies were stamped with Twisted Tangelo on scrap Whisper White, and punched with the Bitty & Elegant Butterfly Punches.  I added rhinestones for the bodies.

So…I ended up using 3 of the new In Colors on this one card!  I love how it turned out!

SUOC70 Aviary Butterflies

It's time for another SUO Challenge…this time with a theme of butterflies!  Pretty easy theme with all the butterfly images and punches and dies that Stampin' Up! has out in the catalogs right now! 

 

I hope my card comes across as I intended.  I was going for a butterfly house look using Aviary stamp set!  You remember when I mentioned we were at the Niagara Falls Conservatory and saw all the butterflies?  Well, they had these "cages" hanging around in the butterfly habitat and I thought to looked so neat!  I also was able to use up some of the "starts" on my desk.  I had most of the butterflies cut and the Aviary stamped Oval already done, and also the Window Framelit cut from Basic Black done!  I was happy to get them off my desk and put into use.  All the clutter starts to get to me after a while and I have to CLEAN them away!  lol!

 

 

Here are the details:

  1. The base card is 4 1/4 x 11 Daffodil Delight, folded in half to make the base card.
  2. I added a 4 x 4 1/4 piece of Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Paper to the bottom.  Then cut a 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece of the green polka dot on the reverse side to hide the seam.
  3. I used the Basic Black Window Frame Framelit and added a Whisper White Oval Framelit piece, stamped with the Aviary cage in Black Stazon on front.  That was adhered to the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  4. The butterflies from Papillon Potpourri were stamped in Melon Mambo, Marina Mist, Pink Pirouette and Daffodil Delight, punched with the Bitty Butterfly punch and added to the front.
  5. I also punched butterfies from Daffodil Delight and the striped pattern in Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP.
  6. Each of the butterflies has a rhinestone jewel for the body, and were placed diagonally across the cage.
  7. I stamped Get Well Wishes from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Black Stazon on Daffodil Delight and punched with the Modern Label Punch, added to the bottom of the oval with more Stampin' Dimensionals.

 

Definitely a bright card to cheer someone up if they have been sick!

Blogger’s Challenge 55 – Bugs and Insects

When I first thought about this challenge, I really didn’t think I had any current Stampin’ Up! Bugs or Insects stamps.  I started looking and discovered I did have several sets with butterflies, snails, dragonflies.  I didn’t want a cartoon type bug…I wanted something a little more sophisticated.  So…I excitedly used my new Dreams du Jour stamp set!  I’m giving you a sneak peak at a set that will be in the NEW catalog next month!  I love the verse in this set and the butterfly was perfect.

Another personal challenge for me is to use up my "starts" basket.  What are starts?  You know…those backgrounds you "start" to do, the stamped images you "start" to make…those things that are only partially finished.  A have a whole tub of them.  This designer paper was from the Holiday Harmony pack last Christmas.  I had already stamped the Baroque Motifs swirl in Purely Pomegranate on the background…then set it aside.  So, today I stamped the verse in Purely Pomegranate on River Rock, and layered it on Purely Pomegranate cardstock.  I left some room on the left side and added three small crystal Rhinestone brads.  I stamped two butterflies on Naturals cardstock using Basic Brown and colored them with Summer Sun, cut them out and mounted them with dimensionals under their body only…I also stamped the butterfies directly on the designer paper.  Then I was able to fold their wings so they look 3D on the card.  Really such a simple card, but I think it looks elegant with the colors and papers.  So, even a BUG card can be elegant!  lol!
