Creatively Simple 29 – Cactus Cuties

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Plants”, and we each create a simple card every week using that theme!

CACTUS CUTIES

This set is really SO cute and easy to make up some easy-to-put-together cacti! And this greeting is just FUN!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Just Jade cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Sahara Sand cardstock is embossed with the Timber Embossing Folder (carryover from the July-Dec Mini Catalog).
A 3/4 x 3-1/4 piece of In Good Taste DSP was added towards the bottom.
The large cactus was stamped with Just Jade Ink, the container with Bumblebee Ink, the other plant with Cherry Cobbler Ink and that container (trimmed from the larger one) in Misty Moonlight Ink. All were stamped on Basic White cardstock and hand-cut, then placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some Linen Thread was doubled and tied in a bow, then added to the plant.
The greeting from Cactus Cuties was stamped with Misty Moonlight Ink and cut with the rectangle die in Picture This Dies. It was added with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some Playing With Patterns Resin Dots were added to the cactus.

I used three of the four retiring colors on today’s card…make sure to grab the refills and extra cardstock before they officially retire and sell out! Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenge! This week we have a fun cactus cake for our inspiration piece!

CACTUS CUTIES

Of course, the stamp set, Cactus Cuties was just perfect for this Inspiration challenge! I had fun finding just the right DSP for my pink sky!

Stampin’ Details:

- The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Blushing Bride cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
- The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Sahara Sand cardstock with cut with the Stitched Whimsey Dies and then added to the base card.
- A 1-1/2 x 4 strip of Sahara Sand cardstock was torn across the top and stamped with the “Just the Note” greeting in Shaded Spruce Ink. It was added to the front.
- The largest Layering Circle Die was used on some Sweet Talk Designer Paper, then the circle added to the front.
- The cactus were stamped with Shaded Spruce, Just Jude and Mint Macaron Inks, the flowers with Flirty Flamingo Ink.
- The Cactus Builder Punch to punch the Basic White vase and the flowers. They were assembled on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and flowers with Mini Dots.
- A trio of pink Pastel Pearls were added to the background.

Creatively Simple 27 – Cactus Cuties

I’ve had already stamped the cactus for this card and it was sitting in my bag of “starts”. I pulled it out to create this card around it! Love when I can use up a couple of things in my bag.

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Coastal Cabana cardstock is added on top.
A 2-1/4 x 5 piece of Sweet Talk Designer Paper was adhered along the bottom with a 1 x 4 piece of coordinating Sweet Talk DSP adedd across it.
The cactus was stamped with Garden Green and the pot with Coastal Cabana Ink on Basic White cardstock and cut/punched with the Cactus Builder Punch.
The flowers were punched from Sweet Talk DSP with the punch.
Hello was stamped with Garden Green Ink on a 1/2 x 1-1/2 piece of Sweet Talk DSP.
Everything was added to a Stitched Rectangle Die cut from Basic White cardstock.
Some Iridescent Rhinestones were added to the background and the pot.

Hello! It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. We have great sketch challenge this week!

CACTUS CUTIES

I’ve used Stampin’ Up!’s Cactus Cuties stamp set for my card today…and you’ll note that Mary used the same set! We hadn’t talked or seen each other’s cards until I went to upload mine! Too funny…that happens a lot with us!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Shaded Spruce cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Friendly Hello Designer Paper was added on top.
A 3-1/4 x 3-1/4 piece of Pool Party cardstock was stamped with the greeting from Cactus Cuties stamp set in Shaded Spruce Ink in the upper right corner.
The narrow label from the upcoming Waves Dies was cut from Shaded Spruce cardstock, cut in half, then adhered behind the Pool Party as directed by the sketch. Then the square was adhered to the front.
A 3/4 x 3-3/4 strip of coordinating Friendly Hello DSP was added across the top of it.
On Basic White cardstock, the large cactus was stamped with Shaded Spruce, it’s container with Pale Papaya Ink, the smaller plant with Granny Apple Green Ink and the container with Cinnamon Cider Ink. The two flowers were stamped with Fresh Freesia Ink.
The Cactus Builder Punch was used to punch the one container and the others were hand-cut, then everything added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some Iridescent Rhinestones were added to the flowers and the one container for a little bling!

Hello! It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. We have a pretty color combination this week for you to try!

CACTUS CUTIES

I went back and forth on which new stamp set to use but decided the Cactus Cuties would be fun! I’m thinking of these cacti in ALL different colors! I took my colors from the Abstract Beauty Designer Paper I wanted to use.

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Just Jade cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Blushing Bride cardstock was embossed with the Stripes Embossing Folder.
A 2 x 5-1/4 piece of Abstract Beauty DSP was added down the right side with a 1/2 x 5-1/4 strip of Night of Navy cardstock to hide the seam.
The Hippo & Friends label die was cut from Basic White cardstock and added on front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The vase from Cactus Cuties was stamped with Night of Navy Ink and punched, the cactus with Just Jade Ink and cut out. They were added to the label with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Just a note was stamped with Night of Navy on a 1/2 x 3 strip of Blushing Bride cardstock and end cut at an angle. It was added across the cactus on the front.
Three flowers were punched from Blushing Bride cardstock and added with Mini Glue Dots.
A trio of Polished Dots were added in the background.
