CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Fly Away

It’s Saturday and you know what that means!!! It’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Design Team Blog Hop! This week’s theme is Fly Away…the Design Team could use any selection of stamps with images that can fly! I know I kept it kind of predictable and used Watercolor Wings…but with a pop of color!

Here are the details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Melon Mambo, folded in half.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Smoky Slate cardstock.
Towards the right side is a 1-3/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Melon Mambo stripe and a 1 x 5-1/4 strip of the hearts pattern from the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Paper.
The Layered Scallop Square is cut from Whisper White and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimesionals.
Just For You from Watercolor Wings is stamped in the lower right corner with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
The butterfly from Watercolor Wings is stamped with Melon Mambo on scrap Whisper White, then overstamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
Clear Wink of Stella is added on top of the Tuxedo Black Ink for some sparkle.
Rhinestones were scattered in the background of the card for some extra bling!

Love the bright colors on my butterfly…reminds me of visiting the butterfly conservatory up near Niagra Falls! OK…next up is our Create with Connie and Mary website. Or head backwards to see Melissa’s card for the day!

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop Resist Me!

The theme for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Design Team Blog Hop is Resist Me! Using any of the resist products that Stampin’ Up! offers! Could be embossing powder or the fun Color Me Irresistable Specialty Designer Paper!

But first, our newest session of Create with Connie and Mary starts SUNDAY! We’re doing a MINI Session featuring sets in the new catalog! Check out the details on Create with Connie and Mary and for a sneak peek snippet of the projects we’ll be doing!

Here’s the card I made, I used the Color Me Irresistable Specialty Designer Paper…actually two different patterns! The DSP does ALL the work!

Here the details to recreate this card!

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Crushed Curry, folded in half.
On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, add the 2-1/4 x 5-1/4 Black Stripe pattern in the Color Me Irresistable DSP along the left side.
Add a trim of 1/8″ Silver Ribbon to hide the seam.
Stamp the greeting from Something to Say in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on the right side.
The butterflies were cut from the white polka dot pattern in the Color Me Irresistable DSP package with the , then sponged with Butterfly Thinlet and colored with a sponge dauber and Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Cherry Cobbler Inks. Wipe off the excess ink on the shiny surface!
Add a trio of small Pearls for the bodies of each of the butterflies

CCMC348 Nature’s Perfection

As I mentioned before, I love the new Sale-A-Bration set, Nature’s Perfection! It was added to the SAB lineup in March and I couldn’t resist! It has flowers! So, I decided to use it for the Create with Connie and Mary color challenge this week! Isn’t it pretty?

Here’s my card:

Here are the details:

The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Rose Red, folded in half.
The 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Soft Sky is embossed with the Large Polka Dots folder.
Across the front, the Sahara Sand lace ribbon was placed and adhered to the back.
A Deco Label Framelit cut Sahara Sand cardstock and the leaf image from Nature’s Perfection was stamped with Sahara Sand Ink on the right side, and the greeting from Lovely Amazing You stamp set was stamped with Tuxedo Black on the left. I love the script fonts in that set!
The flower from Nature’s Perfection was stamped twice with Rose Red Ink on Rose Red, then the entire flower cut out and the center of the second flower was cut and placed in the center with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The butterfly from the same Nature’s Perfection was stamped with Soft Sky on Whisper White, then punched with the Butterfly Punch.
Pearls were added to the center of the flower and for the butterfly’s body.

So…in celebration of Mary’s project, I used the beautiful Butterfly Thinlet on my card today! I was going for a white tone-on-tone look, but I just couldn’t get away from putting some color on here. So, I think the soft Crisp Cantaloupe was a good compromise.

Here are the details:

The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock, folded in half.
On top is a 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Sahara Sand.
The next layer is 3-3/4 x 5 Something Borrowed Designer Paper…I LOVE that DSP…every pattern in that package is gorgeous!
I used a 3/4 x 4 strip of Whisper White and stamped the greeting from the Sale-A-Bration set, Simply Wonderful with Tuxedo Black Ink.
I cut the butterfly with the Butterfly Thinlet from Whisper White and added some of the flower trim in the Artisan Embellishments kit to the body!

Really…a very simple card, but the DSP and butterfly really add a lot of WOW factor to it!

Summer Smooches Butterfly

When I was working on my Create with Connie and Mary challenge last week, some of the pieces fell together on my desk and resembled a butterfly…well, at least they did to me. So…this idea has been in my head for a while. The new Summer Smooches Designer Paper seemed perfect for this butterfly. She is easy to make…cut some squares and round a couple of the corners! That's it! Combined with Perfectly Penned stamp, "Celebrate today"…it seemed like a great reason to celebrate! Oh, and I finished the wedding invitations for a friend…another reason to celebrate today!

The base of the card is Rich Razzleberry cardstock. I layered the Summer Smooches Designer Paper along the bottom of Whisper White (this is my FAVORITE pattern in that package!) and I tied the new Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon around in a knot bow! (Check out my Ribbon Shares her e…I've added Daffodil Delight Seam Binding!) I stamped Celebrate Today from Perfectly Penned in Rich Razzleberry in the center. My butterfly wings are 1" and 3/4" squares with two opposite sides punched with the Corner Rounder Punch. A tip…use a post-it note to hold the tiny 3/4" square in place while you punch it. The body is a trio of Pearls and a small cut of Old Olive 1/8" Taffeta for the antenna. Pretty clean and simple card, but I like how it turned out!!

Flight of the Butterfly 2

OK…I saw that my friends Mary and Lisa did a challenge tonight to make this sweet little box…I’m getting in on the action by making my own little box. The original design came from Jane Matsumoto.

Can you guess what it is made from? The new Big Shot Scallop Envelope BIGZ Die! Isn’t it CUTE? Since I had my Hawaii Papaya Designer Paper out from making some Pillow Boxes, I used it to decorate the box, too. The base Scallop Envelopes are made from Tangerine Tango, then decorated with the Hawaii Papaya and Tangerine Tango striped ribbon. I stamped the flower butterfly with Tangerine Tango, too, then outlined with Chocolate Chip ink. The Butterfly is curled with a dimensional behind him so it looks like he just landed for a short visit!
