CCMC220 – Watercolor Winter

It's Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary weekly challenge! Are you ready to play along? We'd love to see your creations! We have a color challenge for you this week! Since we are in Week 4 of the Holiday Edition 2012, I wanted to use one of the sets we are featuring. Yes, I do have more sets than just this one…it just has captivated me right now! lol!

And, here is ANOTHER Watercolor Winter card! I did use much different colors on this one, though!

I went looking for Designer Paper that had the color challenge colors in it. I found this piece in Twitterpated. I haven't used that paper since the Occasions Mini was out!

The base card is Baja Breeze and I layered on Whisper White that I ran thru the Big Shot with the new Lacy Brocade folder.
I cut a piece of the Twitterpated Designer Paper with a flag cut bottom on it and adhered on front.
I used the Designer Frames Embossing Folder for the Oval in Baja Breeze and cut it out.
I stamped Peace on Earth from Greetings of the Season in Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White and punched it with the Extra Large Oval punch.
I stamped the Poinsettias on Pink Pirouette with Cherry Cobbler! I know…hard to see, but it really is Pink Pirouette! Then I watercolored with my AquaPainter and Cherry Cobbler marker. They are popped up on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
I added Pearls in the center for a little bling!

Today on our Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge, we have a sketch challenge for everyone to play along! It's a fun one! I used the reverse side of one of the Snow Festival Printed Tags and Scentsational Season on mine! That made it really quick and easy to come together!

Here are the details:

Base card is Gumball Green. I layered on Cherry Cobbler cardstock that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots folder.
I added one of the Snow Festival Printed Tags along the right side, cut off just a little bit. The reverse sides of these tags are just as pretty as the front!
I added a strip of Be of Good Cheer Designer Paper across the front.
I cut a strip of Gumball Green cardstock and stamped Merry, Merry, etc. from Seasonal Sayings in Early Espresso across it, then cut the flag end.
I stamped the gingerbread from Scentsational Season twice with Early Espresso, then cut with the Holiday Collection framelit. CUTE!
The gingerbread are popped up on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!

CCMC-HOL1 – Googly Ghouls

So here is our sketch for this week!

And here is my Googly Ghouls card…yes…one more time! This time I combined it with a little bit of punch art! My Punch Class made this cauldron last year around this time! But…see the little eyeball in the bubbles? Isn't that SPOOKY fun???

So…here are the deets!

Base card is Pumpkin Pie cardstock
Layered on Elegant Eggplant that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Spider Web folder, then highlighted with White Frost Shimmer Paint
Cut the gray polka dot banner strip from Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP
Punched a 2 1//2" Circle of Pumpkin Pie cardstock
The cauldron is from the Decorative Label punched from Basic Black and the legs of the cauldron is the Owl Punch turned upside down. I sponged around the edges with White Frost Shimmer Paint.
Bubbles are the cupcake punch frosting punched from Very Vanilla and sponged with Lucky Limeade
I added an eyeball made with the 3/8" Circle Punch and 1/4" Circle, with the Googly Eye inside
I stamped the witch and bat from Googly Ghouls in Basic Black, colored with Stampin' Write markers and cut out, adding Googly eyes to each.
Finally, I stamped Happy Halloween from Teeny TIny Wishes on Lucky Limeade and cut a flag end on it.

Isn't that a FUN card? I love it!

I love the idea of doing an activity during the countdown to Christmas…although this doesn't have to be every day…just something when you have a little time to pull out and do. Or…be organized and preschedule them! Anyway…here's my project!

I hope you can see how REALLY, REALLY cute this project is. And…not hard to make! I kept the steps pretty simple. With my FREE TUTORIAL, I've provided a print out of 14 popular activities…and there are a couple extra blank ones to write your own activities. I've used the Window Frame Collection Framelits for both the activity cards AND the lid on the box. The lid tucks behind the smaller medallion and Vintage Brad on the front to hold it closed. And…here is the back…it shows you a closeup of what the tags look like, too!

Day 6 Preview – Affection Collection

As we continue our tour thru the Holiday Mini during our Preview Week on Create with Connie and Mary, we need to include Affection Collection! We don't have any projects scheduled using this set in the official Create Holiday Edition, so we wanted to make sure we included one during Preview Week. Elizabeth came up with this creative idea using Affection Collection and the fun Sealed with Love Simply Sent Kit…we know you'll love it…and the FREE TUTORIAL she provided! To support Elizabeth's inspired creation, I decided to make a card using Affection Collection, too! This was a set that I received free at Convention this year, and hadn't even mounted it yet. (And no…my M&Ts aren't done either! lol!)

I grabbed the Fan Fair designer paper to start my card and took my colors from it. I hadn't even cut into the paper pack yet! The base of the card is Crumb Cake. I layered on Island Indigo that I distressed the edges with my sanding block and sponged a little Crumb Cake ink around on it. I layered the Fan Fair blue lace pattern on top and distressed the edges of it, too. I cut the bottom on a diagonal, then added the Adorning Accents Edgelit trim of Riding Hood Red. I tied some Crumb Cake Seam Binding ribbon around and tied a bow.

I stamped the filigree frame in Riding Hood Red on Very Vanilla and cut it with the Window Frame Framelit. I sponged it with Crumb Cake. I cut another framelit from Riding Hood Red the same size and cut it in half, the trimmed off the center of it. It is adhered behind the Very Vanilla piece to frame it. Finally, I stamped the little corner filigree twice side by side in Riding Hood Red right on top of the DSP, then added the #1 flag over the center portion of it. I stamped the word Friend in Riding Hood Red on Crumb Cake, then punched with the Modern Label punch and sponged more Crumb Cake over top. The final touch is a few pearls in the filigrees.

A little bit of a departure from the type of cards I usually make…I think this looks more vintage…what do you think?

And…here's my card…the colors inspired fall leaves for me!

I started with a base of Night of Navy and layered on Whisper White. I added a strip of the Rich Razzleberry circles pattern in Polka Dot Parade DSP across the bottom. To hide the seam, I used the Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon, and added a fun SLIDE to it! I stamped the Rich Razzleberry leaf directly on the Whisper White, then stamped a smaller one in Night of Navy and cut with the Leaves die. I used the Woodgrain Impressions folder on the Lucky Limeade one for texture. I tied some Lucky Limeade Bakers Twine in a bow and added it to the bottom stems. My secret Create word is almost. Finally, I added "Imagine the Possibilities" from Word Play in Night of Navy in the upper right corner.

This card has been in my head for a while to do with the Perfectly Preserved stamp set, so since Debbie was featuring it today, I decided to show my card, too!

Yes! How about a preserved jar of eyeballs? lol! As my tag says…EEK!

Base is Tangerine Tango with Lucky Limeade embossed with Spider Web folder
Rich Razzleberry print is from Floral District Designer Paper
I sponged around the edges and highlighted the web with Basic Black ink.
The Perfectly Preserved jar is stamped on Crumb Cake and cut with the Cannery Framelit
I stamped the lid with Tangerine Tango and cut with the Cannery Framelit, too.
I used 1", 3/4", 1/2", 3/8" and 1/4" sized Circle Punches to make the eyeballs and highlighted with the White Gel Pen.
Linen thread tied in a bow around the lid.
I used Border Banter for the Spooky greeting, and handwritten EEK on the Small Jewelry Tag.

Creepy, huh? Hope you like it!

To celebrate our Day 3 Preview, I've made a card, too. Since I already did Fall and Halloween, I think I'd continue on today with Christmas. Winter Memories is one of my FAVORITE sets in the Holiday Catalog…and I always use a theme of snowmen on my Christmas cards. This card came together from scraps on my desk…got to LOVE that!

It started with the Designer Paper from Festival of Prints Paper Pack…have you looked at these prints? They really are CUTE. I liked this plaid one because it gave me a feel of vintage country. Underneath I added the Adorning Accents Edgelit with Soft Suede cardstock. Across the top, I already had the Cherry Cobbler Fancy Fan print made…it is the Coredinations paper and sanded for extra texture. I wrapped some Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon around and tied a bow. All this was placed on Very Vanilla cardstock.

I stamped the snowman scene from Winter Memories in Black Stazon on Very Vanilla and watercolored with my AquaPainters and Stampin' Write Markers in Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler and Basic Gray. It is cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits. Then I cut a smaller Label Framelit from Soft Suede, cut it in half and layered it behind the image. It is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals. Finally, I stamped Merry Christmas from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Black Stazon for the greeting.
