CS205 – Choose Happy

Our Creatively Simple theme this month is “Animals”!

CHOOSE HAPPY

Looking through my current stamp sets, I discovered I don’t have a lot of animal stamps!  Funny…I must go in cycles, because I know I used to have a bunch!  I found these cute little penguins in the Choose Happy stamp set.  It’s my son’s wedding anniversary in a couple weeks and his wife loves penguins…so it made the perfect inspiration!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Poppy Parade cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock was added to the front.
  • A 2 x 5-1/4 strip of Marbled Elegance Designer Paper was added to the left side.
  • The oval from Impressions Abloom Dies was cut from Cloud Cover cardstock and stamped with the Falling Snow background stamp in Cloud Cover Ink.
  • Half of the oval was also cut from Basic White cardstock and torn across the top.  It was stamped with Happy Anniversary from Choose Happy stamp set in Memento Black Ink.  It was added to the bottom of the Cloud Cover oval, then to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Two penguins were stamped with Memento Black Ink on scrap Basic White cardstock, the feet and beak colored with Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends and the cheeks with Light Bubble Bath Stampin’ Blends.  They were hand-cut and added to the snow bank.
  • The Choose Happy heart was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Poppy Parade cardstock and hand-cut, then added above the penguins with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
  • A trio of white Starburst Sequins were added to the background.

Yeah…you normally don’t think of penguins in August in Ohio, right?  But had to meet the theme!  lol! Check out Debbie’s new Creatively Simple card over on Create with Stamping Friends!

IM396 – Textured Notes

Welcome to our Create with Stamping Friends Inspiration Monday challenges.  This week’s inspiration is a pretty botanical print!

TEXTURED NOTES

I like the background that this created using different soft colors!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Soft Sea Foam cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Bubble Bath cardstock was added on top.
  • The 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Basic White cardstock was stamped with the basketweave circle in Soft Sea Foam Ink at the top, Bubble Bath Ink to the right, and Balmy Blue Ink to the left.
  • The branch was stamped with Early Espresso Ink over top of the three circles and then the panel added to the front.
  • The greeting was stamped with Early Espresso Ink on 1/2 x 3-3/4 strip of Bubble Bath cardstock and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Two Brushed Brass Butterflies were adhered to the upper right corner.
  • Some Linen Thread was tied in a bow and added to the stem with a Mini Glue Dot.

It’s Thursday and time for our Create with Stamping Friends challenge!  For each Thursday in July, we pick a different sample from Stampin’ Up’s! Annual Catalog to use as our inspiration.  We are not copying the card but using it to inspire our creation…maybe we use the same set or the colors or the layout or some combination of all the above…it is fun seeing where the inspiration piece will take each of the designers!  Here’s this week’s inspiration:

SCHOOL DAYS

I bought this set because I thought it would be fun to make up some goodie bags for my grandkids to celebrate going back to school next month!  They couldn’t wait to show me their new bookbags when I was visiting with them the other day.

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Cloud Cover cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of yellow gingham Floral Delight DSP was added on top.
  • A 3-1/4 x 4-1/2 piece of Cloud Cover was added to the center.
  • The 3 x 4-1/4 piece of Basic White cardstock was stamped with the stars across the top in Cloud Cover Ink.  The bottom was brushed with Cloud Cover Ink using a Blending Brush.
  • The bookbags were stamped on Basic White cardstock with Sea Secret, Timid Tiger and Darling Duckling Inks and hand-cut, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The books were stamped with Cloud Cover Ink on Basic White and hand-cut, then placed under the center bookbag.
  • Some White Baker’s Twine was tied in a large loop bow and added next to the books.
  • The greeting was stamped with Sea Secret Ink on 5/8 x 2-1/2 strip of Cloud Cover cardstock and the ends cut at an angle.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of Sea Secret 2025-27 In Color Flat Pearls were added to the background.

CS204 – Artistic Leaves

Our Creatively Simple theme this month is “Party Time”!    This is our last one…next week we have a new theme!

ARTISTIC LEAVES

I love the artistic look of blue leaves…here I’ve stamped on variegated designer paper to get the look I wanted!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Lost Lagoon cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock is embossed with the Mini Corrugated Embossing Folder (sadly, now discontinued!) and added to the front.
  • The two large leaves were stamped with Lost Lagoon Ink on Thoughtful Journey Designer Paper and hand-cut, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The smaller leaf was stamped three times with Basic Beige Ink on Basic Beige cardstock and hand-cut, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some Linen Thread was tied in a large loop bow and added to the leaf with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.
  • The greeting was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Lost Lagoon cardstock and cut with the Textured Notes Die, the end was cut at an angle and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

IM395 – Perfectly Pears

Welcome to our Create with Stamping Friends Inspiration Monday challenges.  This week’s inspiration is a bunch of pears!

PERFECTLY PEARS

I was trying to mimic a white pear and thought this Lemon Lolly pear was pretty close in color!

 

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Lemon Lolly cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 1 x 5-1/4 strip of Flirty Flamingo cardstock was added down the center.
  • The 3 x 4-1/4 piece of Painterly Pears DSP was added to the center.
  • Another 1 x 5 piece of Secret Sea cardstock was added over the DSP towards the left side.
  • The pear outline was stamped with Old Olive Ink on Lemon Lolly cardstock.  The solid pear was brushed with Old Olive Ink using a Blending Brush only on the one side.
  • Some Flirty Flamingo speckles were added to the same side.  It was cut with the die and added to the center with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The leaf and stem were stamped with Old Olive Ink on Old Olive cardstock and filled with stamped off Old Olive Ink.  It was cut with the die and added on top of the pear with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some Old Olive/Gold Ribbon was placed under the pear using Mini Glue Dots.
  • Thank you was stamped with Old Olive in on Basic White cardstock and cut with the label die, then added to the front.
  • The flower cluster was cut with the die from Flirty Flamingo cardstock and cut apart into single blossoms.  They were adhered to the background.
  • Three small yellow Low Profile Sparkle Dots were added to the flower centers.

Saturday Blog Hop – Sepia Tones

It’s Saturday and time for our Create with Stamping Friends Blog Hop.  This week our theme is “Sepia Tones”…tans, browns, beige colors on our cards!

PRAIRIE GRASS

I love the simplicity of the images in the Prairie Grass set…they work for SO many different occasions, but I love the support greetings in this set, too!  Here’s a quick and easy card using the stamp set!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Pecan Pie cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock was masked with a torn edge approximately in the center.
  • Early Espresso, Pecan Pie and Crumb Cake Inks were brushed along the left open side using Blending Brushes.
  • The mask was removed, and the prairie grass was stamped with Early Espresso Ink towards the left side.
  • The greeting was stamped with Early Espresso Ink on Pecan Pie cardstock and cut with the smallest Everyday Arches Die.
  • Some Linen Thread was wrapped around my fingers several times, then placed under the greeting with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.
  • A couple Brushed Brash Butterflies complete the card.

MOST WONDERFUL

I been waiting for a chance to use the wreath in my new Most Wonderful stamp set!  I think it is the same image that they used on their wedding card…but it was perfect for a Christmas card!

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Garden Green cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Lemon Lime Twist was stamped with the Most Wonderful wreath in Garden Green Ink in the center.
  • The banner was cut from Basic Beige cardstock with the Party Banners Die and stamped with the Most Wonderful greeting in Real Red Ink.  It was added to the center of the wreath with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Two greenery images from Jolly Holly were stamped with Garden Green Ink on Garden Green cardstock and hand-cut, then added to the top right of the wreath with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The bells from Jolly Holly were stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White cardstock and colored with Darling Duckling, Real Red Stampin’ Blends, then hand-cut and added on top of the greenery with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of gold Low Profile Dots were added to the background.

Our Creatively Simple theme this month is “Party Time”!  My husband is retiring August 1st and I definitely think that calls for a party, don’t you?  Life will look a little different around here, I’m sure!

SUNRISE SAILING

We’ve had several ski boats, but never a sailboat!  I still like this Sunrise Sailing Bundle and think my husband will appreciate this card anyway!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Misty Moonlight cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Balmy Blue cardstock was stamped across the bottom with the water image in Balmy Blue Ink.
  • A 3 x 5-1/4 piece of Splendid Autumn DSP was added across the top.  Two birds were stamped with Crumb Cake Ink in the upper left corner.
  • A 3/4 x 2-3/4 strip of Basic White cardstock was stamped with Happy Retirement from Sunrise Sailing stamp set in Misty Moonlight Ink and added to hide the DSP seam.
  • The sailboat was stamped with Misty Moonlight Ink on Basic White cardstock, the striped sails with Balmy Blue Ink and the hull of the boat with Crumb Cake Ink.  It was cut with the Sunrise Sailing Die and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
