Week 1 Blog Hop: Lotus Blossom

I used Stampin’ Up!’s stamp set, Lotus Blossom, for my card this week since I used it on my pretty (if I must say so myself) home decor project that subscribers saw on Thursday!

Here are the details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Coastal Cabana folded in half.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Best Year Ever Designer Paper.
The 3 x 4-1/4 layer of Sahara Sand has been embossed with the Spring Flowers folder and the corners were rounded. A 2″ Circle was punched out of the center.
On a 2-3/4 x 2-3/4 piece of Whisper White, the Lotus Blossom flower was stamped with Crushed Curry, then stamped off with Calypso Coral for the second layer and full-strength Calypso Coral for the final image. It was adhered behind the open circle.
A 1/2 x 3-3/4 piece of Chocolate Chip was rounded and placed under the left side. Then the entire piece was placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The Bow Builder punch was used to make the Coastal Cabana bow, and the Thank You greeting was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink on one of the tails.
A Calypso Coral Best Year Ever Accessory Button was tied with White Bakers Twine, then added to the center of the bow.

Day 1 PREVIEW: Lotus Blossom

I love the cards I’ve seen made with the Lotus Blossom Stamp Set…one of the FREE Sale-A-Bration products when you purchase $50 of Stampin’ Up! products right now. However, when I was working with it for one of my Create projects, I saw the red blossoms turned upside down on my desk. I thought they looked like strawberries. So…I added a few black dots and changed the bottom of the flower to green!!! Voila! Strawberries!

Here are the details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Whisper White folded in half.
The 4 x 5-1/4 Hello Honey cardstock was embossed with the Delicate Dots folder.
A 1-1/2 x 5-1/4 strip of the striped pattern in Painted Blooms Designer Paper was placed along the left side.
I punched two Flower Medallion flowers from Mossy Meadow cardstock and cut them up into leaves.
I used the Petite Flower Punch with Whisper White cardstock to make the flowers and added 1/4″ Circles of Hello Honey cardstock inside.
The Lotus Blossoms were stamped off with Real Red, full strength Real Red, then Cherry Cobbler on top. Then I stamped them again with Pistachio Pudding, Wild Wasabi and Mossy Meadow, cut off the bottom of the blossoms for the top of the strawberries. I used a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to make the seeds.
Finally, I stamped Thank You from Lotus Blossom Stamp set with Tuxedo Black ink on a 3/4″ strip of Whisper White, cut a flag end and added it under the leaves.

Sneak Peek Blog Tour with Petal Potpourri

The Control Freak Swappers are having a SNEAK PEEK Blog Tour for our December Tour de Freaks! I know it’s a BUSY time of year, but you know you will see LOTS of inspiration from the upcoming Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs…ordering begins January 6th! You’ve probably just come from Debbie Henderson’s blog…weren’t her projects fun? I love her work! We have 12 stops this month, so make sure you stop by them all!

Every year I try to decorate my paper calendar that sits on my desk. Although I keep a lot of appts on my phone, my desk calendar is my BIBLE…reminders and dates, birthdays, etc., all get placed in this master calendar. So, I want it to look pretty, right? And…flowers are my favorite things to stamp…so how could I resist using the new Petal Potpourri stamp set to decorate my calendar? And, I needed a matching birthday card, right?

Here’s what the calendar started as…pretty plain, huh?

And here is a closeup of it finished. I used the new Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Paper to get started with my colors. The background is Bermuda Bay with Crushed Curry for the side and Petal Potpourri flowers. I think this doily pattern is one of my favorites in the set! The centers are Tangelo Twist with Rhinestones inside, the leaves are Mossy Meadow punched from one of the flowers in the Petal Potpourri set. Of course the flower has a MATCHING punch! I added the year with Silver Glimmer Paper numbers cut from the Perfect Print Numbers Bigz Dies onto Basic Black cardstock with the Label Framelit and used my Chalk Pen to draw around the edges.

Here’s a closeup of the card, too! This is fun because the greeting is from the Sale-A-Bration set, Big Day, and I embossed it with White Embossing Powder on Basic Black, then used my Blendabilities Markers (Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Bermuda Bay and Pumpkin Pie) to color over the White Embossing. I love that look! I also drew around the edges with the White Chalk Pen. The flowers are the same as I used on the calendar, but I used the little center circle image for the background with Bermuda Bay ink on the Bermuda Bay cardstock!

Sweet Sorbet Petite Petals

Here are the details:

The base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Crisp Cantaloupe folded in half.
I added a 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Pool Party cardstock.
On the 3 3/7 x 5 layer of Whisper White, I embossed with the Delicate Dots folder.
I added a 1 1/2 x 5 pennant and 1 x 4 1/2 pennant of Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper, cut with a flag end.
On the Oval Framelit, I stamped the greeting from Yippee Skippee with Black Stazon.
I also stamped three Petite Petals flowers with Pool Party ink and punched out with the coordinating punch. I punched two flowers from Pistachio Pudding cardstock and cut them for leaves, then arranged on the oval.
In the centers, I used the Bitty Punches and Summer Starfruit cardstock, with a small pearl in the center.
The Oval was popped up on the front.
As a final touch, I tied a bow of Pool Party Twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack and added it to the front with a Mini Glue dot!

I've also used a few more Sale-A-Bration products. The Summer Starfruit Twine is from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Kit and the background Pool Party cardstock is embosssed with Delicate Dots Embossing Folder. Here are the details:

The base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Whisper White, folded in half.
I added a 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Pool Party, embossed with Delicate Dots Embossing Folder.
I punched out several of the different patterns in Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper with the Hexagon Punch. I haven't used this punch nearly enough!
Then I stamped the Hello Sweet Friend greeting in the matching Six-Sided Sampler stamp set with Black Stazon Ink on Whisper White, then punched it with the Hexagon Punch, too.
Then I just spent a minute laying out my patterns on the front of the card. The greeting hexagon I popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.
I tied a bow with the Summer Starfruit Twine and added it to the front with Mini Glue Dots.
Finally, I added bling with small Rhinestones scattered over the hexagons!

Hope you like it! It only took a couple minutes to make!

You’re Lovely

Here's a quick and easy card using a couple punches and the Deco Label Framelits! The Postage Stamp Punch is one that I haven't used much, but it looks awesome with the Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper for the background!

Here are the details:

The base is 4 1/4 x 11 of Pool Party cardstock, folded in half with the fold on the left side…just a little different way!
Cut a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Basic Black cardstock for the background layer.
Punch 10 Postage Stamp squares from Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper (you don't need the two in the center). Start placing the end ones first, then fill in towards the centers.
Cut the second from smallest Deco Label Framelit from Pool Party cardstock and place in the center.
Stamp You're Lovely image with Black Stazon on Whisper White and cut out with the smallest Deco Label Framelit.
Watercolor the image with Summer Starfruit and Pear Pizzazz Markers. Add the Pool Party greeting from Petite Pairs (or use one of the greetings in the You're Lovely set). Pop up on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Punch 3 Petite Petals flowers from Summer Starfruit cardstock. Add to front around label and place Rhinestones in the center.

It's time for another Thursday Challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary! This time we have a beautiful color challenge for you! Of course, with the bright pink and green, I had to go with flowers…don't you think? But, I'm amazed at what the Challenge Team did for us over on Create with Connie and Mary! Check it out!

I used the Sale-a-Bration set, Petal Parade for my card, combined with the In Color Patterns Paper. I thought it sort of looked like a trellis behind the flowers!

Here are the details:

The base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Whisper White, folded in half.
I added a 5 1/4 x 4 piece of Strawberry Slush In Color Patterns Designer Paper Pack.
On a 3 3/4 x 2 1/4 piece of Whisper White, I stamped the flowers in Strawberry Slush and Old Olive inks randomly. I layered it on a 3 7/8 x 2 3/8 piece of Basic Black cardstock and popped it up on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
I stamped the arrows with Old Olive Ink in a line across a 3/4" x 5 1/4 strip of Old Olive cardstock and adhered it across the top portion of the card.
I stamped the flower with Strawberry Slush Ink on Whisper White, then cut it with the Starburst Framelit. The Rhinestone Jewel is supposed to be in the MIDDLE of the flower…it must have gotten knocked off and I didn't notice! lol!
I layered the flower on a 1 3/8" circle of Basic Black cardstock and placed on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
I stamped Thinking of You from Teeny Tiny Wishes on a 1/2" strip of Strawberry Slush and tucked it under the circle.

Week 2 Spring Collection Challenge

It's the end of Week 2 of the Create with Connie and Mary Spring Collection and we've had fun showing off the Sale-A-Bration products this week in our project tutorials. Now it is time for our Saturday Challenge. We have a fun color challenge this week! Love the soft colors and hope they put you in the mind of Spring!

Here's my card using You're Lovely in the Sale-A-Bration catalog. I also used the beautiful Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper that is another option for Sale-A-Bration!

Here are the details:

The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Sahara Sand, folded in half.
I added a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Pistachio Pudding cardstock.
On it, I added 1 3/4 x 3 1/4 pieces of Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper, rounding the two corners on each piece.
Over those, I added a 1 3/4 x 4 3/4 piece of coordinating Sweet Sorbet DSP and rounded all four corners.
I stamped the floral image with Black Stazon, then watercolored with Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe markers and my AquaPainter. I added the Live Happy greeting in Black Stazon, too.
That was cut with the Deco Label Framelit. Then I matted it by cutting two more Framelits the same size, cutting one in half lengthwise and one in half vertically, then spaced them so it created a mat.
My final touch was to add Sahara Sand Candy Dots on the horizonal pieces.
