Saturday Blog Hop – Flower Power

It’s Saturday and time for our Create with Connie and Mary Blog Hop. This week our theme is “Flower Power”. Our Design Team will be using flowers on today’s cards…should be pretty easy with all the choices we have! I’ve used Softly Sophisticated (SAB Level 2) for today’s card with a more modern twist!

SOFTLY SOPHISTICATED

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Pool Party cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White is added on top.
Two 1 x 5 strips of Pool Party stripe from Sunny Days DSP (SAB) were added towards the left side.
A 3 x 3-3/4 piece of floral Sunny Days DSP (SAB) was added on top.
The medallion from Thoughtful Expressions was cut from Basic White cardstock and stamped with the Softly Sophisticated flower image on the left side a couple times in Poppy Parade Ink. Hello was stamped with Memento Black Ink in the upper right corner.
The stamped medallion was added to a larger medallion cut from Basic Black cardstock, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A trio of gold Neutrals Adhesive Backed Sequins were added to the medallion and background.
Some Linen Thread was tied in a bow, then added under the greeting with a Mini Glue Dot.

CCMC804 – Paper Florist Dies

It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. It’s a bright, cheery color challenge this week!

PAPER FLORIST DIES

You know when you buy something, then only use it a couple times? That’s what happened with my Paper Florist Dies! I don’t think of them because they are stand-alone dies without a stamp set to coordinate with them! But thought they would be perfect for today’s color challenge!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Sweet Sorbet cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock was added on top.
The Masterfully Made DSP was cut with the largest Nested Essentials Die and added to the background.
The rounded flowers were cut from Sweet Sorbet cardstock, the centers from Daffodil Delight cardstock and the leaves from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and put together, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Thinking of You from Garden Meadow Stamp Set was stamped with Memento Black Ink on 1 x 2-1/2 Daffodil Delight cardstock and the end cut at an angle. It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A trio of Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls were added to the background.

CS127 – Ice Cream Swirl

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Mary and I will pick a theme for our simple cards. This month the theme is “Sweet” cards. This theme should be lots of fun this month!

ICE CREAM SWIRL

This card looks complicated, but it really isn’t! The Sale-A-Bration Sunny Days Designer Paper and the layout does all the work! Isn’t that fun?

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Poppy Parade cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The strawberry print in Sunny Days DSP was cut 1-1/2 x 4-3/4, then cut diagonally in half.
The grid print in Sunny Days DSP was cut 1/2 x 6 (times 3).
The triangle DSP pieces were added to the top left and bottom right corners of the 3-3/4 x 5 Shaded Spruce cardstock, leaving approx. 1/8″ around the edge.
The 1/2 x 6 strips of DSP were spaced between the diagonal pieces, allowing a 1/8 gap between them. Once adhered, turn over and trim of the excess.
Add the Shaded Spruce piece to the front of the base card.
Stamp the frame from Heartfelt Hexagon with Poppy Parade Ink on Basic White, then the greeting from Ice Cream Swirl stamp set in Shaded Spruce inside. Punch with the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch and add to front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Stamp two strawberries from Ice Cream Swirl stamp set with Memento Black Ink on Basic White cardstock, then color with Poppy Parade, Petal Pink and Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends. Hand-cut and add to the front.
Add two Rhinestone Jewels to the label.

Welcome to our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenges. This week’s inspiration challenge are some tool cookies! Don’t those look fun?

TRUSTY TOOLS

Well, no brain power needed here to figure out what set to use, right? I grabbed my Trusty Tools Dies and Trusty Toolbox Designer Paper for my card!

Stampin’ Details:

- The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
- A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Lost Lagoon cardstock was added on top.
- The 2-1/2 x 4-3/4 piece of Trusty Toolbox DSP was added at an angle on the right side. The 1-1/2 x 3-1/2 piece of Trusty Toolbox ruler DSP was added diagonally on the left side.
- The label was cut from Basic White cardstock and stamped with the greeting from Heartfelt Hellos stamp set in Lost Lagoon Ink. It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- The drill was cut with the Trusty Toolbox Dies from Real Red, Gray Granite and Lost Lagoon cardstocks and trimmed, then added to the label.
- A Rustic Metallic Dot was added to the drill.
- The nuts and bolts were cut from Gray Granite cardstock with the dies, then added to the label.

Saturday Blog Hop – Valentine Flip

It’s Saturday and time for our Create with Connie and Mary Blog Hop. This week our theme is “Valentine Flip”. We’ll be using a traditionally non-Valentine set and making it into a Valentine! I’m excited to see what our Design Team does with this challenge!

ROCK STAR

I purchased this bundle for my grandsons…the oldest one just had his birthday party at a recording studio! It was pretty cool…they taught them the melody on some instruments, then they got to sing and make a “demo” tape! I wanted to use pinks and reds on today’s card so I could use this DSP, but I’ll probably recreate it in black and red for his Valentine card this year.

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Poppy Parade cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 piece of Most Adored Designer Paper (SAB) was added diagonally across the front.
The guitar from Rock Star stamp set was stamped with Poppy Parade Ink on Basic White and cut with the Rock Star Die. It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Be My Valentine from Throughout the Year Stamp Set was stamped with Poppy Parade Ink on 3/4 x 3 piece of Basic White and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some hearts were cut for the background from Poppy Parade c/s with the Sending Love Dies and one cut from Flirty Flamingo c/s and added to the guitar.

It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. It’s a fun sketch challenge to inspire you!

BEACH DAY

I’ve had this Beach Day set for a while but hadn’t used it yet. I knew I wanted to try to use it for today’s sketch! This bundle has lots of little pieces, but this idea is easy enough to use for a class!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Daffodil Delight cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 piece of Sunny Days DSP (SAB selection) was added to the background.
The 2-1/2 x 3-3/4 piece of Basic White cardstock was blended with Pool Party Ink across the top portion, then stamped with the Beach Day greeting in Memento Black in the upper right corner.
A 1-1/2 x 4 piece of Crumb Cake was added to the bottom of the Basic White c/s, then stamped with the grass image from Beach Day and Crumb Cake Ink.
A 1/4 x 3-1/2 strip of Melon Mambo was added behind the Basic White layer, then added to the front.
The umbrella and chair from Beach Day stamp set were stamped with Memento Black Ink and colored with Lemon Lime Twist, Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. They were cut with the dies, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The sun (beachball) was cut from Daffodil Delight cardstock and added to the top.
Three white Adhesive Backed Sequins Trio were added to the sand and sky.

CS126 – Jungle Pals

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Mary and I will pick a theme for our simple cards. This is the last week for our theme of “NEW” cards…let’s use some of the new products in the Jan-Apr Mini Catalog and SAB Catalog on our cards!

JUNGLE PALS

I think this alligator from Jungle Pals (SAB) is SO cute! We have a resident alligator in the pond by our mailbox. He likes to sun himself on the grassy bank and we will sit on the bench and watch him.

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Basic White was sponged in the middle with Pool Party Ink and the greeting from Heartfelt Hellos was stamped with Mossy Meadow Ink.
A 1 x 5 strip of Flight & Airy DSP was added to the bottom of the Basic White layer.
The greenery was cut with the Jungle Pals Die from Mossy Meadow cardstock, the flowers from Poppy Parade cardstock. They were adhered to the front.
The alligator was stamped on scrap Basic White cardstock with Memento Black Ink then colored with Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. He was cut out with the Jungle Pals Dies and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Two Pool Party Opaque Faceted Gems (SAB) were added to the center of the flowers.

IM317 – Translucent Florals

Welcome to our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenges. This week’s inspiration challenge is a gorgeous blue flower bouquet!

TRANSLUCENT FLORALS

I pulled out a favorite set from the Annual Catalog because the blossoms in the inspiration photo reminded me of this Translucent Florals set! I added the new SAB Embossing Folder to go with it!

Stampin’ Details:

- The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
- The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Boho Blue cardstock was embossed with the Softly Sophisticated Embossing Folder and added to the front.
- The half flower from Translucent Florals was inked five times on with with Balmy Blue Ink, then sponged the centers with Boho Blue Ink and stamped on Basic White. They were cut with the Translucent Florals Dies and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- The leaves were stamped with Soft Sea Foam Ink on Basic White and colored with Light Soft Sea Foam Stapin’ Blends for a little more depth. They were cut in half and added at the top and bottom of the floral bunch.
- The greeting from Translucent Florals was stamped with Boho Blue on 2/3 x 2 Basic White cardstock and the ends cut at an angle. It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Iridescent Rhinestones were added to the centers of the flowers for a little bling.
