Poinsettia Petals

The past couple years, my nail tech who owns the nail salon I go to has requested I make up something for the staff that work for her.  Last year it was Bailey’s and Lindt Chocolates in the Cup Carriers.  This year, I found these small metallic trays on Amazon that would be perfect to hold their small metal tips in their desk.  Here is how I decorated them.  I did the poinsettias for the women and penguins for the men working for her.

 

  • Here is a photo of the metallic trays.

  • I added a Ghirardelli Caramel Chocolate square inside.

  • I cut an Acetate Card Box in half and added the metallic tray and chocolate, then added some shred along the sides so it stayed in place.

 

POINSETTIA

  • I wrapped a 3 x 9 piece of retired gold buffalo check DSP around the outside of the cut in half Acetate Card Box for a sleeve.
  • I used the Poinsettia Dies to cut the three sizes of petals from Basic White cardstock and the leaves from Gold Metallic Paper and added to the front of the DSP with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The greeting from Poinsettia Petals stamp set was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White and punched with the Double Oval Punch.  It was layered on the retired SAB Be Dazzling Paper, then added to the front tucked under the poinsettia, with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The center is one of the retired Beaded Pearls.

PENGUIN

  • I wrapped a 3 x 9 piece of retired Penguin Playmates DSP around the outside of the cut in half Acetate Card Box for a sleeve.
  • I added a Wonderful Snowflake in the background with a Mini Glue Dot.
  • I stamped the snowbank from Penguin Place with Pool Party Ink, then cut along the edge.  I stamped the greeting with Real Red and added the snowbank to the bottom of the DSP on front.
  • The penguin was punched with the Penguin Builder Punch from Basic Black and Basic White and adhered together.  The eyes were stamped with Memento Black and the beak with Pumpkin Pie.  The hat and scarf were stamped with Real Red Ink on Basic White cardstock and hand-cut, then added to the penguin.  The feet were punched from Pumpkin Pie cardstock.
  • I stamped a portion of the Candy Cane background image in Real Red Ink on Basic White cardstock, then hand-cut the candy canes and placed in his hand.
  • A Rhinestone jewel was added to the center of the Snowflake.

I think they turned out SO cute and she loved them.  I can’t wait to her what her staff thought of them!  I love personalizing gifts using our Stampin’ Up! products!

Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenge!  This week we have a pretty tablescape for our inspiration piece!

Now, I’ll admit that tablescape didn’t scream “Christmas” to me, but then I thought…why not?  I think they are awesome colors for a non-traditional Christmas color scheme!  I used Stampin’ Up!’s Poinsettia Petals a LOT last year when it first came out, and was so glad to see it carry over to the Annual Catalog.  The big blooms were perfect for this challenge!

POINSETTIA PETALS BUNDLE

Stampin’ Details:

    • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Polished Pink cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
    • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock.
    • Down the center is a 2-1/4 x 5-1/4 piece of black buffalo print in Pattern Party Designer Paper (Host only option).
    • The large, medium and small poinsettia petals were cut from Polished Pink cardstock with the Poinsettia Dies and adhered together with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Three leaves were cut from Soft Succulent cardstock with the Poinsettia Dies and added under the poinsettia with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Three berry branches and center were cut from Black Glitter Paper with the Poinsettia Dies and tucked under the flower and adhered in the center.
    • Merry Christmas was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White and hand-cut around the letters, then added across the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenge!  Isn’t this a GORGEOUS poinsettia cake?

 

 

POINSETTIA PETALS

No surprise that Mary and my cards were VERY similar since we just HAD to use Poinsettia Petals Bundle on our cards!

Stampin’ Details:

    • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
    • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White is added on top.
    • Four 1 x 2-1/2 strips of Whisper White cardstock were added across the bottom half of the Whisper White layer.
    • A 1/4 x 5-1/4 piece of Brushed Metallic Gold was added across to hide the seams.
    • Three leaves were embossed/cut with the Poinsettia Dies from Shaded Spruce cardstock, then sponged with Shaded Spruce Ink and added to the front.
    • Two sprigs were cut with the Dies from Real Red cardstock and adhere on top of the leaves.
    • The Vanilla/Gold Metallic Ribbon was looped on each end, then adhered on the front.
    • The three sizes of poinsettia petals were embossed/cut with the Poinsettia Dies, then adhered together, the petals slightly bent.  It was added to the front over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • A Beaded Pearl was added to the center of the Poinsettia.

Saturday Blog Hop – Christmas Favors

Happy Saturday!  This week’s blog hop theme is “Christmas Favors”.  This week’s theme is another one of my favorites because I love getting new ideas that I can use for small gifts for neighbors and friends!  I picked up these cute little “Berry Pretty” Christmas lotions on sale at Ulta because of the Blackberry Bliss color, and created this little box to hold them!  A bonus is that the lotion smells REALLY good!

 

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is TWO 2-3/4 x 8-1/2 piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock.
    • With 8-1/2″ at top of Simply Scored Tool, score at 2″ on both pieces.
    • Overlap and adhere the scored pieces to form the bottom of the box sleeve.
  • The lotion holder is 2-3/4 x 3 Blackberry Bliss. 
    • With the 3″ at the top of the Simply Scored, score at 1/2 and 2-1/2.
    • Punch a 1-1/2″ Circle in the center (or the size of your lotion cap).
    • Add Tear & Tape to each tab, then line up edges with the score lines on the base sleeves.
    • Place lotion inside and secure in place with a small piece of Tear & Tape on the back.

  • Add 2-1/2 x 6 piece of Plaid Tidings Designer Paper to the front sleeve (line up at top, it will be slightly short but the greeting will hide it.)
    • Punch a 1/4″ hole at the top thru both sleeve layers.
  • Tie 16″ of Snowflake Splendor Shimmer Ribbon in a bow to hold the sleeves closed
  • Poinsettia:
    • Cut/Emboss three sizes of petals from Melon Mambo cardstock with Poinsettia Dies, adhere together with Mini Glue Dots.  Add to front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Stamp two large and two small leaves from Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set with Mossy Meadow Ink, cut with Poinsettia Dies, adhere under poinsettia with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Stamp two seed pods from Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set with Blackberry Bliss Ink, color the seed head with Melon Mambo Blends, cut with Poinsettia Dies, then tuck under poinsettia.
    • Cut two sprigs from Brushed Metallic Gold Paper with Poinsettia Dies, tuck under poinsettia on top of leaves.
    • Add a Beaded Pearl to the center.
  • Stamp Warm Wishes greeting from Poinsettia Petals stamp set with Blackberry Bliss Ink on 3/4 x 2-3/4 piece of Melon Mambo cardstock, adhere at the bottom.

Saturday Blog Hop – Christmas Flowers

Happy Saturday!  This week’s blog hop theme is “Christmas Flowers”!  So many pretty flowers for Christmas…of course, Poinsettias being one of them!  I love the red ones, but white is my next favorite!

 

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Soft Sea Foam cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded to form base card.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Shimmer White paper was sponged with Frost White Shimmer Paint, then added to the base when dry.
  • The leaves from the Poinsettia Dies were cut from Soft Sea Foam cardstock.  The Poinsettia petals from Very Vanilla cardstock and adhered together.
  • The stems were cut from Whisper White and Wink of Stella added for some sparkle.
  • The Beaded Pearls embellishment was added to the center.
  • Merry Christmas was stamped with Memento Black Ink on a 3/4 x 4 piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock, then tucked under the flower.

Saturday Blog Hop – Thinking of Christmas

Happy Saturday and Happy Halloween! This week our CCM Saturday Blog Hop theme is “Thinking of Christmas”!  It seems that previously after Halloween in the States, the retailers thoughts turn to Christmas!  And now they are getting even earlier!  Our stores have had Christmas products in them for weeks already!  Crazy!  As demonstrators, we often are thinking about the next season or holiday even before the current one is over, too!  So…here are some Christmas ideas for you this week!

Can you guess how I made the poinsettia two-toned for more dimension?

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Old Olive cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock (I should have embossed this layer!  lol!)
  • A 2-3/4 x 3-1/2 piece of Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper was added on top towards the left side.
  • One large, one medium, one small and two mini poinsettia petals were cut from Poppy Parade cardstock with the Poinsettia Dies.  They were each sponged with the Frost Shimmer Paint, then layered together with Mini Glue Dots.  It was popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Two large and two small leaves were cut with the Poinsettia Dies from Old Olive cardstock and Frost Shimmer Paint added to the edges.  They were popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals under the poinsettia.
  • Two sprigs were cut from Brushed Gold Metallic Paper and tucked over the leaves.
  • A Beaded Pearl Jewel was added to the center.
  • Merry Christmas was stamped on a 3/4 x 3-1/2 piece of Whisper White cardstock.  It was curled and tucked under the leaves on the front.

Maui Achievers Blog Hop – October 2020

Our Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip Achievers get together each month for a Blog Hop! I’m blessed with great customers and downline who helped me achieve this year’s (AND the extended!) Maui trip that will be held in May 2021 (hopefully!)  Those that earned both last year and this year will have extended time in Maui to make up for this year’s being cancelled due to Covid-19.  October’s blog hop theme is ANYTHING CURRENT!

POINSETTIA PETALS

This Poinsettia Petals Bundle is by far one of my favorite sets in the entire August-December Mini Catalog.  The embossing detail on the dies is gorgeous, but I love that there is a stamp image cutout poinsettia, too!

 

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Real Red cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock is embossed with the Winter Snow Embossing Folder.
  • A 2-1/4 x 4 piece of Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper is added to the front.
  • The poinsettia from Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set is stamped with Memento Black Ink on Whisper White and colored with the Real Red Combo, Poppy Parade Combo and Light Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends.  It was cut with the Poinsettia Dies and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of small leaves were cut from the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper with the small leaf Poinsettia Die.  They were added under the poinsettia flower.
  • A trio of Gold Metallic Pearls were added to the center of the poinsettia.
  • Warm Wishes greeting from Poinsettia Petals stamp set was stamped with Memento Black Ink on a 5/8 x 2-1/2 piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock and the end cut at an angle.  It was adhered to the front.

I love all the texture on this card and this would be a fairly easy card to duplicate for mass production of Christmas cards since the coloring is the most time consuming part!

Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenge!  Isn’t this a pretty centerpiece?  I love the colors!  I wish we had a shade of pink like this…ours are definitely more coral.  Remember Pretty in Pink?

 

Poinsettia Petals

Of course…what other set would I use for this Monday Inspiration Challenge?  It has to be the Poinsettia Petals Bundle!  This set is GORGEOUS…I love the embossed petals and leaves the most, so that is what I used.  I made a full poinsettia by using two of the small and two of the medium sized poinsettia petals.  The Brushed Copper embossed leaves and Brushed Gold sprigs really make it pop!  In addition, a little Champagne Mist Shimmer adds a little sparkle to the poinsettia petals and background edge!

Stampin’ Details:

    • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Flirty Flamingo cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
    • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Soft Suede cardstock was added on top.
    • The 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Whisper White cardstock was sponged around the edges with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint.
    • A 2 x 5 piece of Poinsettia Place Designer Paper was added across the front.
    • Two small poinsettias and two medium poinsettias were embossed/cut from Flirty Flamingo cardstock with the Poinsettia Dies and Flirty Flamingo Ink was sponged in the centers.
    • Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint was sponged on each of the petals and they were adhered together and the petals curled.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Two of the sprigs were cut from Brushed Gold Paper and three leaves were embossed/cut from Brushed Bronze Paper.  They were tucked under the flower and adhered.
    • Happy Holidays from Poinsettia Petals stamp set was stamped with Soft Suede Ink.
    • The Beaded Pearl center was colored with the Bronze Stampin’ Blends Marker to change the silver to a Bronze color.  It was adhered in the center with Tombow Multipurpose Glue.
