Creatively Simple 26 – Artfully Inked

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge!  Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Plants”, and we each create a simple card every week using that theme!

I’ve been working quite a bit with the Artfully Inked bundle and had this piece laying on my desk unused.  I decided to finish it into a card!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Blackberry Bliss cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock was stamped with the Artfully Inked large leaf and Evening Evergreen Ink towards the left side.  The greeting from Peaceful Moments Stamp Set was stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink in the upper right corner.
  • A 1-1/4 x 3-3/4 piece of Artfully Composed Designer Paper was added to the bottom of the Basic White.
  • The monster leaf was cut with the Tropical Layers Die, and both pieces added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some Windowpane Ribbon was tied in a bow and added to the monster leaf with a Mini Glue Dot.
  • A trio of Silver Metallic Pearls were added to the background.

CS19 – Get Well

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge!  Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Get Well”, and we each create a simple card every week using that theme!

I used the annual catalog set, Artistically Inked, for today’s Simple Challenge!  The flowers and abstract images make one-layer cards pretty easy to make!  I use this greeting a LOT when sending off Get Well cards and decided to use it as my focal image.

NOTE:  Wow…I blew it!  Somehow this greeting from a retired set called Thoughts & Prayers ended up in my Artistically Inked stamp set box.  But I still love this card!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Polished Pink cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock was stamped with the watercolor swoosh image in Fresh Freesia Ink in the bottom right and top left.  The swirl flower was stamped with Polished Pink Ink and the leaves with Soft Succulent.
  • The greeting from retired Thoughts & Prayers stamp set was stamped with Soft Succulent Ink in the center.
  • A trio of Iridescent Rhinestones were added to the background.

Creatively Simple 17 – Stitched Snowflakes

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge!  Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Christmas” and we each create a simple card every week using that theme!  For our last week, we are focusing on winter thank you cards since it is after Christmas.

I love these Stitched Snowflake Dies…I think they are one of the best ones that Stampin’ Up! has designed.  And you know I have had ALL the snowflake sets!  The stitching just adds so much interest and texture!  I also love this color combination for winter (as you can tell from our Create logo!)  I’ve had these snowflakes sitting on my desk from different projects that I didn’t use them on.  They came together on this card pretty easily!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Fresh Freesia is “embossed” with the snowflake border die in Stitched Snowflakes Dies, then stamped with some background snow in Fresh Freesia Ink towards the bottom right.
  • The Stitched Snowflakes were cut from Basic White and Pool Party cardstock, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Thank You So Much from Inspired Thoughts Stamp Set was stamped with Memento Black Ink on 1/2 x 3-1/2 piece of Pool Party cardstock, the end cut at an angle and adhered over the solid snowflake with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of white Subtle Shimmer Sequins were adhered in the background.

Creatively Simple 16 – Christmas

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge!  Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Christmas” and we each create a simple card every week using that theme!  We are definitely on the countdown to Christmas now!

I’ve been surprised how much I ended up using the Whimsical Trees Bundle, especially the dies!  However, this tree die cut has been sitting on my desk for a while from another project I started.  I also haven’t used the Stitched Whimsy dies lately.  Thought it was perfect to frame my tree this week!  Check out yesterday’s Snowbody Better card for the same concept that I used on THIS card!  They do look totally different!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Pool Party cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • I used the rectangle from the Stitched Whimsy Dies in the background on the front, centered.
  • A 1-1/2 x 4 piece of Basic White was torn across the top, then added to the bottom.
  • The tree was cut from Shaded Spruce cardstock with the Christmas Tree Dies, then adhered to Basic White and trimmed around the edges to give it a look of snow on the branches.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Happy Holidays from Poinsettia Petals was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White cardstock, then punched with the Double Oval Punch and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of iridescent Cute Stars were added to the background and the tree.

Creatively Simple 7 – Prized Peony

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge!  Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Thinking of You” and we each create a simple card every week using that theme!

I do have a LOT of stamps…and sometimes it is nice to revisit one that hasn’t been used in a LONG time…probably since it first debuted in the catalog a year ago!  But, Prized Peony is one of those sets that I will hold onto…I just love those flowers!  And…gray and pink is just one of those “perfect” color combinations!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Polished Pink cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic Gray is embossed with the Painted Texture Embossing Folder.
  • A 1/2 x 5-1/4 strip of Peaceful Place Designer Paper was added along the left side, along with a 1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Polished Pink cardstock.
  • The peony was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White and colored with Light Flirty Flamingo and Polished Pink Stampin’ Blends, the leaves with Old Olive Blends.  It was cut with the Peony Dies and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Thinking of You was stamped with Polished Pink Ink on Basic White and cut from that cute tag in Frightful Tags Dies (or use a 1/2 strip of Basic White).
  • A duo of In Color Jewels were added to the background.

 

So yes…this was a LITTLE more involved that usual…but you could simplify it by hand-cutting the Peony instead of dies, not embossing the background and using a strip of paper for the greeting!  Make sure to check out what Mary did this week for her “Thinking of You” Creatively Simple card over on Create with Connie and Mary!  Stay tune next week for another Creatively Simple card!

Creatively Simple 6 – Cute Halloween

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s second Creatively Simple Challenge!  Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Thinking of You” and we each create a simple card every week using that theme!

I absolutely ADORE the little bat in Stampin’ Up!’s Cute Halloween Designer Paper.  I decided to use him on a NON-Halloween card just because he is so cute!  I think he’d be sweet to send out any time of year…but especially around Halloween to let them know you are thinking of them.

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Flirty Flamingo cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White was added on top.
  • A 2 x 3 piece of Cute Halloween polka dot Designer Paper was cut with a banner end, then added to the front.
  • A 3/4 x 4 piece of Highland Heather cardstock was added across the top.
  • A 1-7/8 Layering Circle cut from Flirty Flamingo cardstock was added with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The bat was cut from the Cute Halloween DSP and added with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the circle.
  • Thinking of You from Quiet Meadow Stamp Set was stamped with Highland Heather Ink above the banner.
  • A trio of In Color Jewels were added to the front for a little bling!

Creatively Simple 2 – Nuts About Squirrels

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s second Creatively Simple Challenge!  Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Hello” and create a simple card each week using that theme!

I used Stampin’ Up!’s Nuts about Squirrels for my simple card today.  It really was quite easy to pull together!  You could even make it easier by stamping the squirrel directly onto the tree limbs instead of cutting him out like I did!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Shaded Spruce cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The bottom of the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock was stamps with the tree limb from Nuts About Squirrels stamp set in Early Espresso Ink twice, stem to stem.
  • The solid leaves were stamped with Soft Sea Foam Ink and the veins with Shaded Spruce Ink around the stems.
  • The squirrel from Nuts About Squirrels was stamped with Early Espresso Ink on scrap Basic White cardstock and the body detail with Cinnamon Cider Ink.  The top of the acorn was stamped with Early Espresso Ink and the bottom with Soft Suede Ink.  It was hand-cut and added to the tree limb with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of Champagne Rhinestones were added to the background.
  • Hey There from Nuts About Squirrels was stamped with Shaded Spruce Ink above the squirrel.

Creatively Simple 1 – Delicate Dahlias

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s FIRST Creatively Simple Challenge!  Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Hello” and create a simple card each week using that theme!  Now…you know me…less is NOT more in my book!  My cards tend to be more advanced!  But…I promised Mary that I would give it a try!  lol!  I just have to remember to take things OFF that I want to use!  So…here goes with my FIRST Creatively Simple card challenge!

I used Stampin’ Up!’s free Sale-A-Bration set, Delicate Dahlias, for my card today…in fact I made TWO using different colors!  You’ll need to tell me which one you prefer!  The first uses some fall flower colors!  And the Double Oval Punch frames the greeting from Biggest Wish.

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Pumpkin Pie cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Early Espresso is added to the front.
  • The 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 piece of Basic White was stamped with the Delicate Dahlia stamp in Pumpkin Pie and Bumblebee Inks around the edges.
  • Hello from Biggest Wish was stamped with Early Espresso Ink and stamped on scrap Basic White cardstock, then punched with the Oval using the Double Oval Punch.  The scallop oval was punched from Early Espresso cardstock.  The ovals were adhered together, then added to the center with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of Champagne Rhinestones were added to the background.

Here’s the second version using Misty Moonlight and Flirty Flamingo Inks…more of a summer look, I think!  In this one I used the larger block HELLO from Biggest Wish in the center without using a punch.  A trio of Holiday Rhinestones in the background.
