CSF Saturday Blog Hop – “The Blues Brothers”

It’s Saturday and time for our Create with Stamping Friends Blog Hop. This month we will be using the colors in movie titles to inspire our cards. This week our movie theme is “The Blues Brothers”. Cards with predominantly blue in them!

HAPPIEST DAY

This is a new stamp set I just got, so was happy I could use it for this color challenge!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Boho Blue cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Wildly Flowering Designer Paper was added on top.
Two 1/2 x 5-1/4 strips of the coordinating Wildly Flowering DSP were added to a 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 piece of Boho Blue cardstock, then added to the front towards the left side.
The Crumb Cake cardstock was cut with the Nested Essentials Die and stamped with the greeting from Happiest Day Stamp Set in Boho Blue Ink. It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The dragonfly was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White and the wings with Boho Blue Ink. It was hand-cut and added to the label with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A trio of blue Opaque Sparkle Dots were added to the body and the background.

CSF826 – Country Flowers

It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Stamping Friends Thursday Challenge. This month was is our annual “Case the Catalog”! We use samples from the catalog to inspire the cards we make! Always fun to see if our design team uses the colors, the layout, the stamp set…or whatever element inspires them.

COUNTRY FLOWERS

I again used the layout for my inspiration. I’ve had a lot of need for sympathy cards lately and this greeting is so pretty in this set!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Basic Beige cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
a 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Perennial Lavender Designer Paper (Online Exclusive) is added on top with a 2-1/4 x 4 piece of coordinating Perennial Lavender DSP added on top.
The stool from Country Flowers was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Crumb Cake cardstock. The pail was stamped with Memento Black Ink and the greenery with Pretty Peacock on Basic White cardstock. They were colored with Lost Lagoon and Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blends, then cut with the Dies (the pail top was cut off at the second line down) and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The greeting was stamped with Pretty Peacock on Basic White and punched with the Labeled with Love Punch and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A trio of dark Purple Gems were added in the background.

CS149 – Beach Day

Welcome to Create with Stamping Friends Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Debbie and I will pick a theme for our simple cards. It’s a new month and July’s theme is “Summer”. Cards that have a represent the warmer temps and longer days…at least here in Ohio!

BEACH DAY

Nothing says summer to me like a day at the beach! I love feeling the sand between my toes and just relaxing with a good book!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The 3 x 4 piece of Crumb Cake was torn in half, then layered on top of a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Pool Party cardstock.
The grasses were stamped with Crumb Cake Ink along the “sand”.
Three surfboards were stamped with Memento Black Ink on Full of Life 6×6 Designer Paper, then cut with the Beach Day Die. They were added to the sand with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The sun was punched from Lemon Lolly cardstock with the 1-1/2″ Circle Punch (Online Exclusive) and brushed with Daffodil Delight Ink and added to the background.
The greeting was stamped with Memento Black Ink in the background.
The seagull was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White cardstock and cut with the Die and added to the sun with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.
Three blue Iridescent Adhesive Backed Disks were added to the background.

Reminds me of my boys “surfing” along the edge of the water with their skim boards when they were little! They could do that for HOURS! Check out Debbie’s new Creatively Simple card over on Create with Stamping Friends!

IM340 – Country Flowers

Welcome to our Create with Stamping Friends Inspiration Monday challenges. This week’s inspiration challenge is a pretty teapot set! My grandmother collected teapots and I was fortunate enough to get a pretty stacking one…very unusual! It has the teapot, creamer and sugar vessels all stacked on top of each other.

COUNTRY FLOWERS

Of course, what else could I use except the pretty teapot in the Country Flowers stamp set! I think I used it in a little different way, though!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Misty Moonlight cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 4 x 5-1/2 piece of Thoughtful Journey 6×6 DSP was added on top. (NOTE: I trimmed off the edge from both sides so that the scene was balanced on the front.)
The greeting from Country Flowers was stamped with Misty Moonlight Ink in the bottom right corner.
The 2-1/2 x 3 piece of Basic White cardstock was brushed with Misty Moonlight Ink around the edges, then layered on a 2-3/4 x 3-1/4 piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock at an angle. It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The teapot and lid were cut from Misty Moonlight cardstock using the Country Flowers Dies, then stamped with the large floral image with Misty Moonlight Ink for a tone-on-tone look. They were added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The flowers were cut from Pumpkin Pie, Basic White and Fresh Freesia cardstock, the leaf cluster from Mossy Meadow cardstock and added to the top of the teapot.
Rhinestone jewels were added to the center of the flowers.
Some Linen Thread was tied around the handle in a bow.

LAYERS OF BEAUTY

The masks with the Layers of Beauty stamps make it SO easy to color! I didn’t even use the dies from the bundle. I also only used two colors…Poppy Parade and Basic Beige to get the depth of color on the roses and the leaves!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Poppy Parade cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Basic Beige cardstock was added on top.
The 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 layer of Basic White cardstock was stamped with the roses in Memento Black Ink in the lower right corner.
The masks were used with Poppy Parade Ink for the roses and Basic Beige Inks for leaves.
The white was added to the Basic Beige layer.
The Basic Beige tag was cut with the Greetings of the Season die and stamped with the Simply Said greeting in Memento Black Ink.
Some Black & Very Vanilla Large Check Ribbon was tied thru the hole in the tag, then the tag added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A trio of black Sparkle Gems were added to the background.

CSF825 – Filled with Fun

FILLED WITH FUN

I used the layout of the catalog inspiration photo to create my card with the Online Exclusive Bundle, Filled with Fun! It came out cute, I think!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Berry Burst cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 4 x 5-1/4 panel of Full of Life Designer Paper was added on top. The top left and bottom right were stamped with the confetti image in Berry Burst Ink.
A 2-3/4 x 3-3/4 piece of Basic White was cut into a tag shape.
Some Pretty in Pink Bordered Ribbon was stapled to the end of the tag.
The Filled with Fun wagon was stamped with Berry Burst, the wheels and handle with Memento Black.
The flowers were stamped with Memento Black Ink and colored with Berry Burst, Pretty in Pink and Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Blends Combos. All pieces were cut with the Dies and added to the tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The greeting was stamped with Shaded Spruce Ink on a 3/4 x 3 piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and the ends cut at an angle.
A trio of white Adhesive Backed Sequins Trio were added to the background.

CS148 – Simply Zinnia

SIMPLY ZINNIA

I was looking at the Simply Zinnia stamp set and saw the little stars in the center of this flower! A 4th of July card came immediately to mind since that holiday is so close!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Real Red cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Blueberry Bushel cardstock was embossed with the Eyelet Embossing Folder (I felt like they looked like stars!)
Two strips of 1/4 x 5-1/4 Real Red cardstock and one 1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Basic White were adhered towards the right side in a stripe pattern.
The circle from Spotlight on Nature Dies was cut from Basic White cardstock and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The flower was stamped with Cherry Cobbler Ink and the leaves with Old Olive Ink. They were colored with Blueberry Bushel, Real Red and Poppy Parade and Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Blends and cut with the Simply Zinnia Dies, then added to the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals. NOTE: Make sure not to color the stars in the center!
The greeting was stamped with Real Red Ink on scrap Basic White cardstock and hand-cut around the letters, it was added to the front with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A trio of white Adhesive Backed Sequins Trio were added in the background.

IM339 – Frosted Forest

Welcome to our Create with Stamping Friends Inspiration Monday challenges. This week’s inspiration challenge we are celebrating the 4th of July holiday in the United States!

FROSTED FOREST

Love this fun patriotic picnic decor! I’m using the new Frosted Forest Bundle (online exclusive) for my card today to show that trees don’t have to be just green!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Poppy Parade cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
Two 3/4 x 5-1/4 pieces of Mediterranean Blooms Designer Paper were blended with Poppy Parade Ink.
The 3 x 5-1/4 piece of Basic White cardstock was stamped with three trees in Memento Black Ink spaced across the front.
Using Mask A, the left tree was colored with Poppy Parade Ink and the right tree with Blueberry Bushel Ink using Blending Brushes.
The colored of Mediterranean Blooms DSP was added to each long side of the Basic White and added to the front of the card.
Celebrate and the star cluster from the Wanted to Say Dies were cut from Poppy Parade and Blueberry Bushel cardstocks. Celebrate was adhered together, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The stars were cut apart and then added around the trees with Monoadhesive Glue.
A trio of Rhinestone Jewels were added to the background.
