Creatively Simple 10 – Thankful

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge!  Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Thankful” and we each create a simple card every week using that theme!  It’s SO appropriate for this time of year!

I can definitely say that I’ve gotten a LOT of use out of my Seasonal Swirls Dies.  And, it wasn’t even a set that was first on my list to get!  This card is SUPER simple and easy to assemble, but I love the clean simplicity of it!  Just a couple passes thru the Cut & Emboss with the dies and you are done!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Crumb Cake cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Cajun Craze cardstock was added on top.
  • The 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 layer of Basic white was stamped with the greeting from Heartfelt Wishes in Early Espresso Ink towards the bototm.
  • The Seasonal Swirls leaf wreath was partially cut from Crumb Cake cardstock.  The leaves were cut from Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Cherry Cobbler cardstock, then added to the wreath.
  • Two pumpkins were cut from Pumpkin Pie cardstock using the Die and added with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some Simply Elegant Gold Trim was tied in a bow and added to the bottom of the wreath with a Mini Glue Dot.
  • A trio of Genial Gems were added to the background.

IM201 – Poinsettia Petals

Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenge!  This week we have a pretty tablescape for our inspiration piece!

Now, I’ll admit that tablescape didn’t scream “Christmas” to me, but then I thought…why not?  I think they are awesome colors for a non-traditional Christmas color scheme!  I used Stampin’ Up!’s Poinsettia Petals a LOT last year when it first came out, and was so glad to see it carry over to the Annual Catalog.  The big blooms were perfect for this challenge!

POINSETTIA PETALS BUNDLE

Stampin’ Details:

    • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Polished Pink cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
    • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock.
    • Down the center is a 2-1/4 x 5-1/4 piece of black buffalo print in Pattern Party Designer Paper (Host only option).
    • The large, medium and small poinsettia petals were cut from Polished Pink cardstock with the Poinsettia Dies and adhered together with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Three leaves were cut from Soft Succulent cardstock with the Poinsettia Dies and added under the poinsettia with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Three berry branches and center were cut from Black Glitter Paper with the Poinsettia Dies and tucked under the flower and adhered in the center.
    • Merry Christmas was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White and hand-cut around the letters, then added across the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Saturday Blog Hop – Fall Colors

This week’s Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is “fall colors”.  Don’t you just LOVE this time of year in the Midwest with all the leaves changing colors?  Although it IS a big cooler than I like!

QUIET MEADOW

I know I’ve mentioned that Blackberry Beauty DSP really didn’t appeal to me when I first saw it in the catalog.  The color combination is just not one I would have put together.  However, once I received it, I fell in love!  It is GORGEOUS!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Blackberry Bliss cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • A 3-1/4 x 5-1/4 piece of Blackberry Beauty DSP was added towards the left side.
  • Another 2 x 4 piece of Blackberry Beauty DSP was added across the front.
  • The branch from Meadow Dies was cut from Rose Gold/Gold Metallic Paper and added to the front.
  • Happy Fall Y’All from Banner Year was stamped with Cinnamon Cider Ink on Very Vanilla, then cut with the label from the Meadow Dies.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some Simply Elegant Gold Trim was tied in a bow and added to the front with a Mini Glue Dot.
  • Three Brushed Metallic Dots were added to the background.

CCMC689 Whimsical Trees

Hello!  It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  This week is a fun sketch challenge!

WHIMSICAL TREES BUNDLE

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE the little bottle brush trees in the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set?  So much fun!  I let my card focus on the small trees in this set!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Basic White, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whimsy & Wonder Designer Paper (love that subtle print!)
  • A 2-1/4 x 3-3/4 piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock was stamped with the greeting from Whimsical Trees in Misty Moonlight Ink in the upper left corner.
  • A 7/8 x 5 piece of striped Whimsy & Wonder DSP was cut on the end at an angle and added across the front.
  • a 1/4 x 4-1/4 piece of Silver Foil was added on top and cut the end at an angle, too.
  • The small tree was stamped off with Polished Pink Ink and the bottle brush tree stamped with Misty Moonlight Ink on Basic White cardstock.  They were cut with the Christmas Tree Dies and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The garland and ornaments were cut from Polished Pink cardstock and added to the trees.
  • Two iridescent Cute Stars were added to the tree tops.

Delicate Baubles Dies – Santa and Mrs Claus

Here’s the cutest couple around!  Santa and Mrs. Claus!  I’ve had these done for a couple weeks and have been anxious to share them!  Aren’t they SWEET?  This makes 15 & 16 different looks using the arabesque shape in the Delicate Baubles Dies!

You can see my GNOME, SANTA, GINGERBREAD, ELF, PENGUIN, SNOWMAN, WITCH, MICKEY MOUSE,  DRACULA, RUDOLPH, GRINCH & MAX, NUTCRACKER, and SCARECROW by clicking on their name.

Stampin’ Details for cards:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Real Red cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White was added on top.
  • A 2-3/4 x 5 piece of Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper was added to the background with a 1/2 x 5-1/4 coordinating stripe added towards the bottom of the DSP.
  • Santa has the Ho Ho Ho greeting from Perfectly Plaid Stamp set, stamped in Real Red Ink on Basic White cardstock and cut with the Frightful Tags label.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Mrs. Claus has the Be Merry greeting from Banner Year Stamp Set, stamped in Real Red Ink on Basic White cardstock and cut the Frightful Tags label.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Two Red Rhinestones were added to the upper part of the DSP.

SANTA CLAUS

  • The solid arabesque Delicate Bauble Die is cut from Petal Pink, Basic White and Real Red cardstocks.
  • The top of the Real Red bauble was cut for his hat.
  • The bottom of the Basic White bauble was cut for his beard and a slice for his hat trim.
  • The mustache is two ghosts from the Halloween Punch punched from Basic White cardstock and added with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • His nose is a 1″ Circle from Petal Pink cardstock and added with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • His eyes are 3/8″ Circles from Basic Black with White Chalk Pen highlights.
  • His cheeks are 1/2″ Circles from Flirty Flamingo cardstock.
  • His hat pom pom is a 1/2″ circle from Basic White cardstock.
  • Some White Chalk Pen was also added to his nose.
  • Santa was popped up on the front of the base card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

MRS. CLAUS

  • The solid arabesque Delicate Bauble Die is cut from Petal Pink, Basic White and Real Red cardstocks.  (NOTE:  if making both, you can use the opposite sides of the Real Red and Basic White baubles you cut for Santa).
  • The bottom of the Real Red bauble was cut for her blouse.  A small slice was cut for the bun holder in her hair.
  • The top of the Basic White bauble was cut for her hair and embossed with the Parisian Flourish Embossing Folder.  A slice was cut for the collar on her blouse.
  • Her nose is a 3/8″ Circle from Petal Pink cardstock and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Her eyes are 3/8″ Circles from Basic Black with White Chalk Pen highlights.
  • Her cheeks are 1/2″ Circles from Flirty Flamingo cardstock.
  • Her mouth is a slice of Real Red cut with the 1/2″ circle from Real Red cardstock.
  • Some White Chalk Pen was also added to her nose.
  • The holly and berries from Banner Year were stamped with Garden Green and Real Red Inks on Basic White cardstock and hand-cut, then added to her hair bun.
  • Two small Basic Pearls were added to her blouse for “buttons”
  • Mrs. Claus was popped up on the front of the base card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I think Mrs. Claus is one of my FAVORITES!  I’m having a blast with these characters!  Still more to come…

Creatively Simple 9 – Thankful

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge!  Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Thankful” and we each create a simple card every week using that theme!  It’s SO appropriate for this time of year!

Strong of Heart is one of those “hidden” stamp sets in the Mini Catalog!  It is also the Make a Difference stamp set where $3 for each stamp set sold is donated to support heart health!  I always like to support the Make a Difference causes!  This stamp set has clean lines and is easy to use to make cards!  I’ve also paired it with Banner Year…the greetings in that set get a LOT of use from me!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Crushed Curry cardstock.
  • A 1-3/4 x 5-1/4 piece of Pattern Party Designer Paper (Host only) was added to the bottom.
  • A Stitched Rectangle was cut from Basic White cardstock and stamped with the floral heart in Strong of Heart with Memento Black Ink.  It was colored with Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.  The rectangle was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The greeting from Banner Year was stamped with Memento Black Ink on a 1/2 x 2-1/4 piece of Crushed Curry cardstock, the end cut at an angle and added with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of Matte Decorated Dots were added to the background.

IM200 – Season’s Blessings

Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenge!  This week we have a bowl of pumpkins for our inspiration piece!

My mind went to how could I create the bowl.  I looked at my dies, and figured that the large label from Seasonal Labels Dies would work and the small pumpkins in the Seasonal Swirls Dies would be a perfect fit!

SEASON’S BLESSINGS

    • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
    • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Beauty of the Earth Designer Paper was added on top.
    • A 1-1/2 x 4 strip of Misty Moonlight cardstock with a 1/4 x 4 strip of Pumpkin Pie cardstocks were added across the front.
    • The large Seasonal Label was cut from Basic White cardstock, then sponged with Smoky Slate Ink to give it a farmhouse feel.  The edges were curled up to resemble the sides of the bowl.
    • Two sets of leaves from Season’s Blessings were stamped off with Soft Succulent Ink onto Basic White cardstock, then cut with the Seasonal Basket Dies.  They were cut apart and added into the “bowl” with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Four Misty Moonlight, three Pumpkin Pie and three Basic White pumpkins were cut with the Seasonal Swirls Die, then added to the bowl randomly.
    • The greeting from Season’s Blessings stamp set was stamped with Misty Moonlight Ink on 5/8 x 2-1/2 Soft Succulent cardstock and the end cut at an angle.  It was tucked into the pumpkins.
    • Some Brushed Metallic Dots were added in the background.
