CCMC677 – Beauty of Friendship

Wow!  Another Thursday has rolled around and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  I love this week’s sketch!

BEAUTY OF FRIENDSHIP

I used the tree from the Beautiful Trees Dies instead of a rectangle…and love how it looks in it’s wintery garb!  And I’ve always loved red cardinals…he really pops out against the gray!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Smoky Slate cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded to form the base card.
  • A 1-1/2 x 3-3/4 piece of Basic White was torn across the top and added to a 3-3/4 x 5 piece of Peaceful Place Designer Paper.
  • The DSP was layered onto a 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 piece of Real Red cardstock.
  • The tree from Beautiful Trees Dies was cut from Smoky Slate, then embossed with the Bark Embossing Folder.  It was added to the front with slivers of Foam Strip Adhesive.
  • The shadow of the tree from Beauty of tree stamp set was stamped with stamped-off Smoky Slate Ink.
  • Thinking of You from Beauty of Friendship stamp set was stamped with Basic Gray Ink on scrap Basic White cardstock, then cut with the label die in the Beautiful Trees Dies.  It is added with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The bird was cut with the Beautiful Tree Dies from Real Red cardstock and added to the tree.
  • Some Subtle Shimmer Sequins were added in the background.

Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenge!  This week we have a pretty graphic design decorated cake to inspire us!  The frosting technique they used is called spatula painting.

 

IN SYMMETRY and WATERCOLOR SHAPES

I just purchased the Watercolor Shapes Stamp Set and thought it would work to create the “spatula painting” background on my card like that is shown on the cake!  But, I also felt my card need a focal image, so I added the flower from In Symmetry since it has a modern feel, too.

Stampin’ Details:

    • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Basic White, scored at 4-1/4 and folded to form the base card.
    • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White, the narrow oval was stamped in Bumblebee, So Saffron, Pool Party, Midnight Muse and Flirty Flamingo Inks in a zig zag pattern.
    • The flower head was stamped twice to form the full flower in Flirty Flamingo Ink on scrap Basic White cardstock, the center with So Saffron Ink, and the small center with Pool Party Ink.  All were hand-cut and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • The leaves were stamped with Pool Party Ink on scrap Basic White and cut apart, then layered under the flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Thanks so much from In Symmetry stamp set was stamped with Midnight Muse Ink in the upper right corner.
    • A trio of Clear Epoxy Essentials were added to the background and one to the center of the flower.

Happy Thursday!  It’s time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  We have a pretty color combination for you this week.  I was inspired to use it for a non-traditional colored Christmas card!

SWEETS & TREATS STAMP SET

One thing I liked best about this set is that it really can be used for all occasions, but I LOVE that fig pudding image!  It reminds me of the Nothing Bundt Cakes if you have those stores around you!  So fun to get an individual sized bundt cake…and they are SO delicious!  This card came together really quickly!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Petal Pink cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded to form the base card.
  • A 2-1/2 x 5 piece of Night of Navy was added to the background.
  • The 2-1/4 x 4 piece of Pansy Patch Designer Paper was wrapped with Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon tied in a knot and added on top towards the left.
  • A 2-3/4 x 3-1/2 piece of Basic White was added on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The fig pudding and cake stand images from Sweets & Treats Stamp Set were stamped with Night of Navy Ink on scrap Basic White, then colored with Petal Pink and Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends (be careful so the Night of Navy Ink doesn’t smear).  They were hand-cut and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The greeting from Sweets & Treats was stamped with Night of Navy Ink on Petal Pink cardstock, then punched with the Double Oval Punch and added on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some Wink of Stella was added to the “frosting” (again, be careful).
  • A trio of In Color Jewels were added to the background for some bling!

IM187 – What’s Cookin’

Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenge!  This week we have a cabinet of pretty white milk glass!  I’d LOVE to have a cabinet of glassware like this in my home!

WHAT’S COOKIN’ and WELCOMING WINDOW

I used a combination of two die sets…Cookin’ and Window Flower Box Dies to work on my card…I thought it worked out pretty well!  Although the shelves aren’t a cabinet, it does work as inspiration!

Stampin’ Details:

    • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
    • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Pool Party cardstock was embossed with the Painted Texture Embossing Folder.
    • A 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 piece of Bloom Where You Are Planted DSP was added to the right side.
    • Three shelves were cut from Bermuda Bay cardstock with the Window Flower Box Dies and added to the left with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • The pitcher and flower pot were cut from Basic White with the Window Flower Box Dies and added to the shelf.
    • The bowl, whisk and salt/pepper mills were cut from Basic White with the Cookin’ Dies and added to the shelves.
    • A succulent plant was hand-cut from the Bloom Where You Are Planted DSP and added to the flower pot.
    • Thank you from Welcoming Window Stamp Set was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White and cut with the Layering Circle Die.  It was layered on the scallop circle cut from Bermuda Bay.  It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Some Simply Elegant Silver Cord was tied to the handle of the whisk in a bow.
    • A trio of Artistry Blooms Sequins were added to the background.

Saturday Blog Hop – On the Ground

Last week our theme was “In the Sky” for our CCM Saturday Blog Hop.  This week’s Create with Connie and Mary’s blog hop theme is “Anything on the Ground”.  Can be anything that resides on the ground…like flowers, trees, water…whatever!  Again…should be fun to see what our Design Team did!  I decided to use my Nuts About Squirrels stamp set.  When I look outside to our back yard, I can see lots of squirrels scurrying around.  They love the acorns they find on the ground and they are always busy, busy, busy!

NUTS ABOUT SQUIRRELS

I was looking for a leafy print designer paper and ran across this one from the new July-December Mini Catalog.  It’s actually in the Painted Christmas Designer Paper pack.  But…this print looked like summer to me, so I went with it!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Soft Sea Foam cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock.
  • A 1-1/2 x 5-1/4 strip of Painted Christmas DSP was added to the left side.
  • A 3/4 x 4 strip of Soft Suede cardstock was added across the bottom.
  • The tree limb was stamped with Soft Suede Ink and the leaves with Soft Sea Foam and Garden Green in the upper right corner.
  • The squirrel was stamped with Early Espresso for the outline and Soft Suede to fill in on scrap Basic White.  The acorn top is Early Espresso and the bottom is Cinnamon Cider Ink.  The cheeks were colored with Light Flirty Flamingo Blends.  It was hand-cut and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Nuts About You was stamped with Early Espresso Ink and cut with the Layering Circles Die.
  • Three extra leaves were stamped on scrap Basic White with Soft Sea Foam and Garden Green Inks and hand-cut, then added around the circle.
  • A trio of dark green Holiday Rhinestones were added to the background.

CCMC675 – Counting Sheep

Hello!  It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  This month we have been doing “CASE the catalog” samples!  You could use the layout, the stamp set, the colors…whatever inspires you about the sample card!  Of course, I use the layout most of the time when I do these challenges…and I did again today!

COUNTING SHEEP

I thought the Counting Sheep Bundle (an upcoming FREE SAB selection available August 3) would be cute to use on my challenge card…it seems to fit the layout perfectly!  And I always need birthday cards!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Smoky Slate cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The front was embossed with the Animal Print Embossing Folder.
  • A Stitched Rectangle was also cut from Smoky Slate cardstock, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I cut down one of the smaller Stitched Rectangles, stamped the bottom with the grass image in Granny Apple Green Ink, then added it to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The standing sheep from Counting Sheep was stamped with Memento Black Ink on scrap Basic White cardstock, then colored with the Light Smoky Slate, Light Basic Black and Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends.  It was cut with the Sheep Die and then added to the Basic White panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The balloon was cut with the Sheep Dies from Pumpkin Pie cardstock and added with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.
  • The greeting in Counting Sheep stamp set was stamped with Memento Black Ink on a 1/2 x 2-1/2 piece of Bumblebee cardstock and cut the end at an angle.
  • A trio of Opal Rounds were added in the background.

IM186 – Delicate Dahlias

Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenge!  This week we have a wonderful tablescape…don’t you LOVE those colors!  I used Highland Heather, Fresh Freesia, and Soft Succulent, along with the new Sale-A-Bration set, Delicate Dahlias, for my sympathy card.

 

After my dad’s passing a couple weeks ago, I’ve received many beautiful hand-made cards from fellow stampers.  Thank you!  Each one means more to me than I can express and reinforces why it is so important to reach out to people when they have endured a loss.  It does bring just a glimmer of joy during a difficult time.  I always thought that if I didn’t send a card right away, that it was too late and I didn’t want to remind them of their grief.  But…now I realize that the grief is still there, whether or not a week, a month, a year or longer goes by.  Send a card no matter when…they will appreciate it!

DELICATE DAHLIAS

Stampin’ Details:

    • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Soft Succulent cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
    • The front of the base is embossed with the Timeworn Type Embossing Folder.
    • Two 3/4 x 3-1/2 strips of 2021-22 In Color 6×6 Designer Paper were added to the sides of a 3-1/2 x 4-1/2 piece of Highland Heather cardstock and added to the front.
    • The 3 x 3-1/2 piece of Basic White cardstock was stamped with the greeting in Soft Succulent Ink.
    • The large Delicate Dahlias stamp outline was stamped with Highland Heather Ink on scrap Basic White and the center with Fresh Freesia Ink.  Some Highland Heather was added with a sponge dauber before it was stamped.  The outline leaves were stamped full-strength with Soft Succulent and inside stamped off Soft Succulent Ink.  All were hand-cut and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • A trio of In Color Jewels were added to the background (Soft Succulent color).

This week’s blog hop theme is “Anything in the sky”…birds, bugs, planes…anything normally found in the sky!  This should be a FUN one!  I stretched and used Stampin’ Up!’s new Merry Snowflakes Bundle (in the upcoming July-December Mini Catalog) for my card…after all, snowflakes are in the sky before they fall to the ground!   lol!

MERRY SNOWFLAKES BUNDLE

I LOVE these stitched snowflakes!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 2-3/4 x 4-1/4 piece of Whimsy & Wonder Designer Paper was added in the center of the front on the base card.  (LOVE the metallic look on the snowflakes!)
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White was cut in the center with the Stitched Rectangles Dies, then popped up on the front over the DSP with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The greeting from Merry Snowflakes was stamped with Memento Black Ink on a 3/4 x 3 piece of Blushing Bride cardstock and added to the front.
  • Three snowflakes were cut with the Stitched Snowflakes Dies from Basic White cardstock and added with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Some pink In Color Jewels were added to the centers for a little sparkle.
