IM407 – Snowy Delights

Welcome to our Create with Stamping Friends Inspiration Monday challenges.  This week’s inspiration is a pretty snowflake!

SNOWY DELIGHTS

I have several snowflake sets, but this one is brand new for me!  I love that it has stencils, stamps AND dies!  I just used this pretty snowflake die on my card for today’s challenge!  This would be a VERY easy card to mass produce for your Christmas cards this year!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Azure Afternoon cardstock was embossed with the Soft Waves Embossing Folder and added to the front.
  • A 2 x 4 piece of Basic White cardstock was torn across the top and the Snowy Delights greeting stamped with Azure Afternoon ink in the center.  It was added to the bottom.
  • The snowflake was cut with the die from Basic White cardstock and added to the front tucked slightly under the “snowbank”.
  • The medium blue Traditional Sparkling Sequins were added to the arms of the snowflake, and the center holds a small one.

Tin of Tags Snowflake

You may recall that I’ve shown several different looks with the Tin of Tags Snowflake over the past couple months.  Some times I just like to sit down with a set and play with several colors and layouts!  Here’s the last of that series that I’ve made.  (You can see the others HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE!)  With the fun ribbon on this one, it reminds me of a big present all wrapped up and ready to give away!

 

 

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Whisper White, scored at 5-1/2 and folded to form base card.
  • The Warm Wishes greeting from Tin of Tags stamp set is stamped in Real Red Ink at the bottom of the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Soft Sky.
  • The 3/4″ Real Red Stitched Ribbon is wrapped around the Soft Sky layer and tied with a knot in the center.  The layer was adhered to the base card.
  • The snowflake from Tin of Tags stamp set is stamped with Real Red Ink on scrap Whisper White, then punched with the Flower Medallion Punch (don’t you love when you find out something works with a punch you already have?  I love that the snowflake fits in the punch…Stampin’ Up! doesn’t have it listed that it does!)
  • In the center of the snowflake is a Silver Metallic Sequin.  The snowflake is popped up on the front of the card.

 

That’s it!  Pretty CAS design and probably one that you wouldn’t mail because of the bulky ribbon, but I’d tuck this card into a hand-delivered gift bag for the recipient to enjoy!

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop Non-Traditional Colors

This week’s Saturday Blog Hop over on Create with Connie and Mary features non-traditional Christmas colors!  Any more, though, anything goes and there is so much variety!  So, I had a hard time thinking of something that was really “non-traditional”!  lol!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Flirty Flamingo, scored at 5-1/2 and folded to make the base card.
  • Merry Medley Background stamp was inked with Smoky Slate, then stamped on the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Smoky Slate.  White Craft Ink was sponged along the edges to soften it a little.
  • A 3/4 x 4 strip of Flirty Flamingo Designer Paper was added across the front.
  • Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper was punched with the Flower Medallion Punch.
  • The snowflake from Tin of Tags was stamped with White Craft Ink on Flirty Flamingo, then embossed with White Embossing Powder and punched with the Flower Medallion Punch.
  • The punches were adhered together and placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A Large Rhinestone was added to the center and a few scattered in the background for a little bling!

Tin of Tags Snowflake

I must admit that I’m missing a new snowman or snowflake set in the Holiday Catalog.  I know…we’ve had several sets over the past few years, but I love them for the holidays!  However, there are a few individual ones scattered among the stamp sets, and I love the shape of the snowflake in Tin of Tags Stamp Set.  AND…this set is ON SALE for 25% off this month!  PLUS…I discovered that it fits the Flower Medallion Punch that is in the Annual Catalog…SCORE!

Here are the details!

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Soft Sky, folded in half.
  • On the 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Whisper White, the snowflake was stamped randomly along the left side with Soft Sky Ink four times….then once in the upper right corner.
  • Making Spirits Bright was stamped with Memento Black Ink and then adhered to the base card.
  • Another snowflake was stamped on scrap Whisper White with Soft Sky Ink and punched with the Flower Medallion Punch.  Another Flower Medallion was punched from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  The two were adhered together with Monoadhesive Glue (that works best when adhering to Glimmer Paper!).  Then the snowflake element was added to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A piece of silver Glimmer Ribbon was tied in a knot, then adhered to the center of the snowflake…a little different look than using a Rhinestone!

SUOC139 Wintertime

I’m so glad the theme this week on SUO Challenges is Wintertime because I realized that I hadn’t posted my personal Christmas Card for this year!  The only difference between mine and this one is the greeting…I did use the Sending you a Flurry of Warm Christmas Wishes from Flurry of Wishes stamp set on mine.  For this challenge, I switched it out to the Let it Snow greeting in Snow Place!  Isn’t my snowman cute?  Everyone liked him!

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Cherry Cobbler, folded in half.
  • The 3-3/4 x 5 layer of Smoky Slate was embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder and adhered to the front.
  • The snowman was cut with the 1-3/4 and 2-1/2 Circle Punches from Whisper White.  The buttons were  from Snow Place stamp set and stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
  • The scarf is a 1/4 x 4-1/2″ strip of Merry Moments DSP, cut with two tails.
  • The snowflake from Flurry of Wishes was stamped with Real Red and punched with the Snow Flurry Punch and added to the scarf with a Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Also has a rhinestone in the center.
  • The eyes are 1/4″ Basic Black cardstock circles highlighted with the White Gel Pen.
  • The nose is the tip of the Tree Punch from Pumpkin Pie cardstock.
  • The hat is a 1″ square of Basic Black trimmed and 1/8″ strips of Basic Black for the brim and Merry Moments DSP for the hat band.  It is popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, too.
  • Finally, Let it Snow from Snow Place was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

August Grand Vacation Achievers Blog Hop

Woohoo!  It’s time for the Stampin’ Up! Grand Vacation Achievers Blog Hop!  I’m so excited to see what the other achievers have come up with this month because we are showing off projects from the new HOLIDAY CATALOG!!!  Are you as excited about this catalog as I am?  Lots of great new stamp sets and accessories…going to be an exciting next few months in my classes!

 

So…I had a REALLY hard time narrowing down what set I wanted to use.  I finally settled on Flurry of Wishes (of course, I ALWAYS need more snowflake sets) and doing a new-to-me technique called Inlaid Words.  I showed this technique at my technique class this month and they loved it!  Not only is the stamp set new, so is the background embossing folder, Softly Falling, and the “snow” Seasonal Frame Thinlets, plus the fun little wood Snowflake Element…I colored mine with White Craft Ink.

So here are the details on how to recreate this card:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, folded in half.
  • The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Marina Mist cardstock is embossed with the Softly Falling embossing folder (I can’t decide which way I like it better…more snow at the bottom or more coming down from the top!)
  • Across the front is a 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of the silver pattern in Neutrals Collection Designer Paper Stack…then a 1/4″ x 5-1/4 strip of Silver Glimmer Paper under it.
  • The Flurry of Wishes large snowflake was stamped on Whisper White with Marina Mist Ink, then cut with the Circles Framelit.  At the same time, I cut the word “snow” from Seasonal Frame Thinlets across the center…make sure to save the little pieces from the curly cues!  I cut the word again from Marina Mist cardstock.
  • The large circle snowflake was placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then I used the WONDERFUL Fine Tip Glue Pen to glue the Marina Mist word snow inside the opening to the base of the card.  Adhere in the little curly cue pieces you kept from the snowflake one.

  • Finally, I colored the wood Snowflake Element with White Craft Ink and my sponge dauber…let dry…add a large Rhinestone in the center and add to the card with a small Stampin’ Dimensional in the center.  I also added Rhinestones in the snowflake ends.

Festive Flurry Candle & Mat

So…what did I do for MY Preview Project?  I made a lovely Festive Flurry Decorated Candle and Candle Mat for a centerpiece for the holidays!  I have got to tell you…this is is SOOOOOO much more impressive in person!  Everyone who has seen it has fallen in LOVE with it.  And, it's not hard with using Framelits!  I'd love to do this as a class for my customers, I'd include a package of Frosted Finishes Embellishments in the price since you use quite a few of them…but they sparkle SO pretty!  Then they can take the rest home with them!  Need to see if I can fit it in my schedule!

And…did you notice what I wrapped the candle in itself?  I used the Birch Paper in the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit!  I LOVE that paper…the texture…and I stamped the snowflakes randomly on it for more depth!  TIP:  If you want to burn the candle, I'd recommend slipping off the paper sleeve…or burn it down a little bit and add a tealight in the center so you can use it safely.  Plus put it on a glass coaster.

Create with Connie and Mary Snowflake

This week's Thursday Challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary was to use this YUMMY looking cake as our inspiration!  Wow…so many things…snowflakes, stripes, pearls, bows…tons of items to use on a card!  Plus, I think Topsy-Turvy cakes are SO much fun.  One day, I'd like to have a big decorated cake like this for my birthday!

 

 

So here is my card based on the cake inspiration!

 

 

I knew right away I wanted to use the BIG Snowflake #2 die on my card.  I ended up using BOTH the snowflake and the Northern Frost Strip die for the small one under the Blue Glimmer Brad.  I also used the Snowflake Punch behind the bow!  Lots of snowflakes going on! 

 

The base is Marina Mist cardstock, then I layered on Whisper White that I ran thru the Big Shot with the FInial Press Impressions Folder.  I made the Snowflake #2 out of Marina Mist, then added Tombow Adhesive Glue on the edges and sprinkled on White Chunky Glitter.  I added the Whisper White punched snowflake over the big one.  I made a bow out of the length of Marina Mist Satin Ribbon, then used the Subtles Glimmer Brad and the smallest snowflake in the center to hold the bow tied.  I placed the bow with a Stampin' Dimensional in the center of the snowflakes.

 

Finally, I stamped Winter Wonderland from Stampin' Up!'s Bright Christmas in Marina Mist Classic Ink, then free-hand cut it along the curve.  It is attached to the front with Stampin' Dimensionals, too.
