CCMC505 Lots of Happy

I love the color combination for today’s Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge…it makes me “Lots of Happy”! lol! It also inspires me to think of Spring…something Mother Nature isn’t doing a very good job of doing around here! More snow yesterday…I think we are way past the saying “three snows after the forsythia blooms”…it has been blooming and I think we’re on our fourth snow with more on the way! My girlfriends from the south coming in for a stamping retreat better bring their coats! lol!

This time of year I’m always on a mission to use up some of the Designer Paper in my stash that I know will be retiring! Whole Lot of Lovely is gorgeous…and has the colors from the challenge!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Peekaboo Peach cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 piece of Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Paper in the beautiful floral pattern with striking black background!
Down the front is a 1-1/4 x 5-1/2 strip of Old Olive cardstock, embossed with the Petal Pair Embossing folder.
The greeting from Lots of Happy stamp set is stamped with Memento Black on Whisper White cardstock and punched with the Tailored Tag Punch. It was placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The flower bunch in Lots of Happy was stamped with Memento Black Ink and colored with Calypso Coral and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends, then cut out and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

IM15 – Birthday Blossoms

It’s time for Create with Connie and Mary’s Inspiration Monday!!! Aren’t these cupcakes YUMMY looking? Mary always picks these inspiration photos that make me HUNGRY! lol! And look closely…see that little dragonfly? Isn’t she sweet?

So, here’s the card I came up with. I’ve been using some of the stamp sets in the Annual Catalog that I feel certain will retire. Birthday Blossoms is one of my guesses. We will know for sure today!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Sweet Soiree Designer Paper is layered on top.
A 3/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Elegant Eggplant was placed across the front.
The largest Stitched Shape Oval Framelit was cut from Whisper White and stamped with the greeting from Birthday Blossoms in Elegant Eggplant Ink. It was adhered to the front.
Three of the blooms from Birthday Blossoms were stamped with Calypso Coral Ink on Whisper White, then punched with the Pansy Punch and sponged in the middle with Calypso Coral Ink. They were added around the oval with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The leaves were stamped with Pear Pizzazz Ink on Pear Pizzazz cardstock and hand-cut, then added under the flowers.
The small dragonfly was cut from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits and added to the flower with a Mini Glue Dot.

CCMC504 Sweet Soiree DSP

Today we have a fun sketch for you to try over on Create with Connie and Mary! I knew I wanted the Sweet Soiree Designer Paper to be the star on my card, so the stamping is minimal…only the greeting from Sunshine Sayings is actually stamped! The entire card came together pretty quickly!

I went with using three different patterns in the background…and a fourth by cutting out one of the cakes from the DSP!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Marina Mist, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock.
The Sweet Soiree Designer Paper was cut to 2-1/2 x 3-3/4 and two pieces cut 1-3/4 x 2-1/4, then added to the Whisper White layer.
A scallop square was cut from Marina Mist with the Layering Squares Framelits.
The Stitched Shape Framelit square was cut from Whisper White to fit inside the Marina Mist scallop square.
One of the cakes was hand-cut from the Designer Paper and added to the stitched square with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A couple Rhinestones were added to the center of the flowers on the cake.
Happy Birthday from Sunshine Sayings was stamped with Memento Black Ink on scrap Whisper White, then punched with the Classic Label punch.

NOTE: For my aunt’s 90th birthday, I’m giving her card and added the numbers 90 to the top of the cake cut from Silver Foil with retired Sizzix numbers. Love being able to personalize my cards this way!

IM14 – Touches of Texture

It’s time for Create with Connie and Mary’s Inspiration Monday!!! I love the abstract look to this series of paintings (in fact, I’d love to hang this in MY home!) So, I wanted my card version to have the same feel as the painting and pulled out my Touches of Texture stamp set…an oldie, but goodie!

Here’s what I designed…what do you think?

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Pool Party cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock was sponged at the bottom and top with Island Indigo Ink, going from dark at the edges and lighter towards the center. An area closer to the top was left completely white.

Here’s a photo of the stamp set I used so you can see the texture images I chose:

The smaller/denser spatter spray (for the flower) was used with Crushed Curry Ink across the white portion of the Whisper White layer.
The lacy “stem” was stamped four times full strength below the flower “heads” with Island Indigo Ink, then stamped off several times in between the “stems”.
The greeting from Lots of Happy was stamped with Island Indigo on Whisper White, then punched with the Tailored Tag punch. (I love that this stamp set coordinates with the Tailored Tag!)
A length of Pool Party Shimmer Ribbon was wrapped around the front and secured behind the Whisper White layer, then the tag added with Stampin’ Dimensionals on top.
The little draonfly was stamped with Island Indigo Ink on scrap Whisper White, colored with the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends, then cut out by hand and added to the tag.

CCMC Saturday Blog Hop – Pastel Colors

Happy almost Easter, everyone! The theme for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary’s Saturday Blog Hop is using Pastel Colors…perfect for this time of year, right? I had my Delightful Daisy Designer Paper out making Easter Favors, so thought it would be perfect to use for this challenge, too!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Sahara Sand cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On top is a 3 x 5-1/2 piece of Delightful Daisy Designer Paper.
A diecut from Petals & More Thinlits was cut from Calypso Coral cardstock and adhered behind the DSP.
Thank you was stamped with Old Olive Ink on the largest Stitched Shapes Oval and added to the front.
The Daisy from Daisy Delight was stamped twice with Calypso Coral Ink on So Saffron cardstock, then punched with the Daisy Punch and adhered together. It is placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
In the center of the Daisy is a Clear Faceted Gem.
The leaves were stamped with Memento Black Ink on Old Olive and hand-cut, then placed under the daisy.

CCMC503 Truly Tailored

Well, this week’s Thursday Challenge on Create with Connie and Mary definitely has a masculine feel! So, I pulled out my Truly Tailored stamp set, Tailored Tag Punch and True Gentleman Designer Paper and went to work!

Here’s what I came up with! I love these shirt cards and have made several for family members! This one is lots of fun because the pocket holds a gift card!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Crumb Cake cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Tranquil Tide cardstock.
The pocket was cut from the plaid pattern in True Gentleman Designer Paper with the Pocket Framelits. The sides and bottom only were adhered so that the top is open for the gift card to slide in. It was adhered to Night of Navy cardstock that was trimmed around the pocket shape and then added to the front of the card.
The Today is Your Day greeting from Truly Tailored was stamped with Night of Navy Ink on a 1 x 2-1/2 piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and added to the pocket.
The collar was made from a 1 x 3-1/4 piece of plaid designer paper cut on an angle, then added to a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and trimmed around for a border. It was adhered at the top of the card.
Some silver Metallic Shapes were placed on the collar point and the top of the pocket.
Two True Gentleman buttons were added to the right side with Mini Glue Dots.

SUOC197 – Cake Soiree

Well..this is it. My last SUO Challenge. After five years I will be stepping down from the SUO Challenge Design Team. It was perfect timing as the blog will be changing ownership. I will miss the awesome design team I work with, but am sure I will see them around on other challenges and the big wide web! So, the last theme for me on SUO Challenges is “Encouragement”. How appropriate! I decided to use a general “For You” as I use this a lot when words don’t seem to cover exactly what I want to say. But this is for you…Robin Messenheimer…to thank you for the WONDERFUL job you did running the SUO Challenge blog! It has been a wonderful source of inspiration! I’m happy we actually met in person when I visited you in Hawaii!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Marina Mist cardstock, scored at 5-1//2 and folded.
A 4×4 piece of Sweet Soiree Designer Paper was placed along the bottom of a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White.
The Berry Burst Metallic Ribbon is wrapped around the seam and secured in the back.
A tag from the Sweet Cake Framelits (FREE for Sale-A-Bration!) was cut from Crumb Cake. I have to admit, that tag is worth the entire set…love the lacy look along the bottom!
The open flowers were cut from Calypso Coral and Berry Burst with the Framelits, added to Powder Pink cardstock. The Calypso Coral one has also been sponged with Calypso Coral Ink. They were added to the tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For You from Cake Soiree was stamped with Memento Black Ink.
The leaves were cut from Old Olive with the Framelits and added to the tag, then the tag added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I LOVE the Sweet Soiree Designer Paper…the foils in it are just SO beautiful! Make sure to check out the rest of the SUOC Designers to see what they have done with the Encouragement theme.

IM13 – Ribbon of Courage

It’s time for Create with Connie and Mary’s Inspiration Monday!!! Not sure if these are cookies or a wedding cake, but the neutrals and white flowers are so elegant looking, aren’t they? My thoughts came together pretty easily on what I wanted to do…until I saw Mary’s card and realized we had done something pretty similar! lol! That happens a lot between us! So…I switched mine out and used a different stamp set…Ribbon of Courage.

Doesn’t seem like I’ve used this set much, but I love the inspirational greetings and the floral ribbon and flowers in it. This one doesn’t have much stamping…I let the framelits do most of the work!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Whisper White, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
On top the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Sahara Sand stamped with the Ribbon of Courage greeting in Chocolate Chip Ink, then was embossed with the Ruffled Embossing Folder (first time I’ve used it!)
The flowers were cut from Whisper White and the leaves from Pear Pizzazz with the Support Ribbon Framelits and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The centers were stamped with the Ribbon of Courage flowers in Chocolate Chip Ink on Daffodil Delight cardstock and then punched with the 1/2″ Circle Punch. They were added to the center of the diecut flowers with Mini Glue Dots.
In the center of the flowers, some Perfect White Accents were added for a little bling.
