CCMC566 – Free as a Bird

Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!  It’s a fun sketch this week.  Sketches are always a great starting point in making a card!  So, grab your stamps and play along!

 

Here’s what I came up with using Stampin’ Up!’s Free As A Bird stamp set!  I love coloring these sweet birds!

 

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Soft Suede cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • The Bird Ballad Designer Paper was cut 3-1/4 x 5-1/2 and layered on 3-1/2 x 5-1/2 Calypso Coral cardstock, then added to the front.
  • The birds on a branch from Free As A Bird stamp set was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Whisper White cardstock, then colored with Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Calypso Coral, Old Olive and Pool Party Stampin’ Blends.  It was cut with the Stitched Nested Labels Dies…beautiful!
  • The Label was then embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder to give it some texture and then was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A 1/4 x 2-3/4 strip of Calypso Coral was adhered under the birds.
  • The Thank You greeting from the stamp set was stamped with Memento Black In on a 1/2 x 1-1/2 piece of Pool Party cardstock and adhered.

IM76 – Good Morning Magnolia

Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday photo!  This glass fusion piece looks so striking!  Love it!

I tried to represent the large leaves in the glass piece by using Good Morning Magnolia.  The pop of red is really what sets this card off!  Such simple coloring of the magnolia, just by outlining it with Light Pool Party blends, and then repeating the pattern in the background tone-on-tone.  Very artsy looking to me!

Stampin’ Details:

    • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Pool Party cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
    • On the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Smoky Slate, the magnolia image was stamped in both corners with Smoky Slate Ink.  It was also embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder.
    • A 3/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Real Red cardstock was added across the front.
    • On top is a 1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Silver Glimmer Paper.
    • The magnolia from Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set was stamped with Memento Black on Whisper White cardstock, then colored around the outline of the petals and leaves with Light Pool Party Blends.  The center was colored with the Dark Pool Party Blends.  It was cut with the Magnolia Memory Dies and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • A trio of Red Rhinestones in the background and on the large leaf adds some more bling!
    • Some Clear Wink of Stella was added to the magnolia petals.

Saturday Blog Hop – Kids Birthday

Happy Saturday! It’s time for another Saturday Blog Hop!  The challenge this week is “Kids Birthday” cards.  I always need ideas for those!  I just got the new Wiggle Worm Stamp Bundle, so just had to try it out!

 

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Smoky Slate cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Pineapple Punch cardstock.
  • A 2 x 5-1/4 piece of Basic Gray Neutrals “honeycomb” pattern was added down the center.
  • The 3/4 x 4 piece of Smoky Slate was added towards the bottom.
  • The bees were stamped with Memento Black Ink on scrap Whisper White, colored with the Pineapple Punch Blends, then cut with the Wiggly Bugs dies.  They were popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The paths were hand drawn with a Basic Black Marker.
  • Before adding the bottom bee, Silver Thread was wrapped in a circle several times, then adhered with a Stampin’ Dimensional, then placed on the card.
  • You Amazzze me was stamped with Memento Black Ink on scrap Whisper White and punched with the Timeless Label Punch.
  • Two yellow dots from Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots were added to the tag and placed on the front.

Isn’t that CUTE!!!  I love this set!  I’ve done several cards using this set for swaps, so will be showing those off soon!  Next up is our Create with Connie and Mary website, then on to creative Mary Brown, or head backwards to see Melissa’s fabulous card!

IM75 – To A Wild Rose

Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday photo! Look at the bold colors on this collage!  Wow!  Wishing we still have Lemon Lime Twist!  That would have been a great addition!

I’m using the to A Wild Rose bundle again from the NEW Annual Catalog…you probably think I don’t have any other new sets, right?  lol!  Well, actually my newest catalog order just got here!  So excited to play!

Stampin’ Details:

    • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Blueberry Bushel cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
    • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Granny Apple Green cardstock was cut.
    • At the bottom, a 2-3/4 x 4 piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with the background stamp Handwritten with Granny Apple Green Ink and adhered.
    • The 1/8 Blueberry Bushel Ribbon was wrapped around and tied in a knot, then the layer added to the base card.
    • The lattice piece from Wild Rose Dies was cut from Blueberry Bushel cardstock and adhered toward the right side with Tombow Multipurpose Glue.
    • The label piece from Wild Rose Dies was cut from Whisper White cardstock and stamped with the word Hello from To A WIld Rose in Blueberry Bushel Ink.  It was slid under the ribbon added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • The solid background rose image was stamped with Bermuda Bay Ink, the detail was stamped with Blueberry Bushel Ink and the outline with Memento Black It on Whisper White cardstock.  Cut with the Wild Rose Die.
    • Repeat for a second rose but hand-cut out the center blossoms and add to the larger rose with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Slightly curl the edges for dimension and add to front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Stamp the leaves outline and inside with Granny Apple Green Ink on Whisper White cardstock, cut with the Wild Rose dies and add under the flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Add a trio of Coastal Cabana Glimmer Dots.

Saturday Blog Hop – Masculine

Happy Saturday! It’s time for another Saturday Blog Hop! Are you HAPPY that we can order from the complete Annual Catalog now?  I am!  The challenge this week is “Masculine” cards.  A Good Man is now my GO TO stamp set for masculine cards (Sailing Home is a close second!)  I love all these sketchy images in this set.  It complements a few summer sketches sets that I’ve kept in my collection!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Night of Navy cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • On top the 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White is stamped in the corners with the speckle stamp from Waterfront (or use marker splatters!) with Crumb Cake Ink.
  • A 1-1/4 x 4 piece of striped Come Sail Away DSP was added across the front.
  • A 2-3/4 x 4 piece of compass Come Sail Away DSP was added to a 3 x 4-1/4 piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • The Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine was wrapped around twice and tied in a know on the left.  The panel was placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The A Good Man image was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Whisper White cardstock and colored with Pumpkin Pie, Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green and Ivory Stampin’ Blends.  It was cut with the Stitched Shapes Oval and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • It’s Your Day from A Good Man was stamped with Night of Navy Ink on Whisper White cardstock and cut with the small Stitched Shapes Circle, then added on top.

I shared a card earlier that reminded me of my youngest son holding his daughter.  This one reminds me of my oldest son when we’d go to the beach for Spring Break!  OK, check out the rest of the Design Team Member’s “Masculine” cards this week! CCMC564 – Free As A Bird

Hello Thursday!!!  Time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge…it’s a fun sketch!

I used my new Free As A Bird stamp set for the first time!  I love this little birdie on the edge of the larger row of birds, just perfect for cutting off and using it individually!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Petal Pink cardstock, scored at 5-1/4 and folded.
  • The 3-1/4 x 4-1/2 piece of Bird Ballad Designer Paper was layered on a 3-3/8 x 4-5/8 piece of Early Espresso cardstock.  It was added to the base at an angle.
  • Then a 1-1/4 x 4 coordinating Bird Ballad DSP print was layered on a 1-3/8 x 4-1/4 piece of Early Espresso cardstock and added on top.
  • A 1/4 x 5-1/4 strip of Old Olive cardstock was added over that.
  • The Stitched Shape Square was stamped with a portion of the birds on a branch image with Memento Black Ink, then colored with Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Soft Suede and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends.
  • It was layered on a Scallop Square from the Layering Squares Dies and popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Hello from Free As A Bird was stamped with Early Espresso Ink in the upper left corner.

IM74 – Parcels & Petals

Happy Monday! It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday photo! These cookies look SO yummy, don’t they?

I went with more of the colors and just a little scallop for my card.  I really struggled with the pink color…Flirty Flamingo is what I used and it is almost too orange, but Melon Mambo was too dark!  We need an in between pink to match these cookies!  But, I LOVE those stitched Rectangles Dies…the large layer one especially!  I used three different sized rectangles on my card.

Stampin’ Details:

    • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Flirty Flamingo cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
    • The Whisper White cardstock is cut with the second from largest Stitched Rectangle Die .
    • The Crumb Cake cardstock is cut with the fourth from largest Stitched Rectangle Die and they are both layered on the front.
    • The Bermuda Bay cardstock was cut with the Layering Squares Dies and stamped with the You’re The Best greeting from Parcels & Petals in Memento Black Ink along the bottom.  It was adhered to the rectangle.
    • The row of flowers in Parcels & Petals stamp set was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Whisper White cardstock, colored with Old Olive, Flirty Flamingo, Highland Heather, and Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends.  It was cut with the Stitched Rectangle Die and added on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

It’s time for another Saturday Blog Hop!  The challenge this week is “Congratulations” cards.  Can be for wedding, baby, graduation or anything that someone needs a pat on the back!  I made this card for this challenge, but then liked it SO much that I used it in my Stamp Club last month!  They loved it, too!  But hurry, that Regals 6×6 Real Red striped pattern DSP is going away in just a few days…it is perfect for a nautical card!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Sahara Sand cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • On top is a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White cardstock.
  • A 2-1/2 x 5-1/4 piece of Come Sail Away Designer Paper was added to the left side.
  • A 2-1/2 x 4-1/2 piece of Night of Navy cardstock was cut with a banner bottom, then two 1/4″ holes punched at the top.
  • Some Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine was placed thru the holes at the top of the banner and tied a bow.  It was added to the front.
  • A 2 x 4 piece of the Real Red Striped (Regals) 6×6 DSP was added to a 2-1/4 x 4 piece of Real Red cardstock, then added across the front.
  • A Stitched Circle shape was cut from Sahara Sand cardstock and the birds from Sailing Home stamped with Memento Black and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The sailboat was stamped with Night of Navy Ink on scrap Whisper White cardstock, then cut with the Smooth Sailing Dies.  It was colored with the Balmy Blue Blends, then added to the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Congrats was stamped with Night of Navy Ink, then cut with the banner from Smooth Sailing Die.  It was added with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
