Pleasant Poppies

I loved this Pleasant Poppies stamp from the moment I saw it. I ordered it, then hadn't mounted it. My friend came in from out of town and wanted to buy one…since it was just easier, I gave her my new one and reordered one for myself! It just came last week and I finally got to play with it! I followed the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and just got in on the challenge under the wire!

Now, I must be honest…this is the second try at coloring! The first one came out WAY too dark and pink…which is why I kept adding color to make it darker! So, I used a trick that I learned in art class a long time ago…use orange to neutralize the pink. It worked like a charm!

I started by inking up the big background Pleasant Poppies stamp with Black Stazon and stamped the top portion on Whisper White. I used my AquaPainter with Stampin' Write markers to color. Starting watercoloring with a base of Pumpkin Pie on the flowers, then adding Riding Hood Red and Cherry Cobbler in layers on top. The centers are Daffodil Delight full strength. The stems I colored with Wild Wasabi and Always Artichoke to shadow. I used WIld Wasabi for the base of the card and added on a layer of Pool Party. I used Storybook Designer Paper with stripes and checks to add the layers on top. I matted the Whisper White stamped layer onto Basic Black to make it pop! I purposely left the greeting off of this one…not sure what I'm going to use it for. May just keep it as a note card to send to someone!

Only ONE more sleep until Stampin' Up! CONVENTION (and a SHORT sleep at that! Our flight leaves EARLY!) I can't wait to meet up with my stamping friends! See you soon!

CCMC-NC4 Bug Me

I used Stampin' Up!'s Bug Me stamp set for my Color Challenge card. Isn't that set just TOO CUTE? I had always wanted to own Bugs & Kisses and never bought it. This one is just as darling!

I started with a base of Basic Gray cardstock. I layered on the ruler pattern from Storytime Designer Paper package, then used the check pattern from the same package going across the card. I cut the tag from Apothecary Accents from Riding Hood Red, the placed a Whisper White rectangle inside that tag shape. I stamped Sending a Kiss from Petite Pairs in Basic Gray towards the bottom. I stamped the dragonfly with a Basic Gray body and Pool Party Wings on scrap Whisper White, then cut it out, adhering it to the tag with Stampin' Dimensionals. I punched a hole in the top of the tag and added Pool Party Seam Binding Ribbon. The entire tag is also popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals on the front of the card. I was really happy with how this turned out!

Bug Me

There are quite a few children's sets in the main catalog that are lots of fun! This one, Bug Me, was one of my favorites. I only wish Stampin' Up! would have included some fun "buggy" sayings in this set, too! Or had a complimentary set with some greetings! So…making a Happy Birthday card was the next best thing for me…that is mainly what I need for kids cards anyway.

I had a scrap of the Designer Paper from Pinwheels on Parade laying on my desk, so I built my card around the colors in it! The base is Midnight Muse and I layered on Baja Breeze and then the Designer Paper. I stamped the colorful catepillar from Bug Me on a strip of Whisper White by using my Summer Starfruit, Baja Breeze and Real Red markers to ink it up. It is layered on Real Red cardstock that I punched with the Scallop Border Punch along the bottom. I added a Summer Starfruit and Real Red flower cut from Floral Frame Framelits with a Dahlia button in the center! I've been hoarding them, and thought it was time to use one! Finally, I added the Teeny Tiny Wishes "Happy Birthday" greeting, stamped with Midnight Muse ink on Baja Breeze and cut with a flag on one end, then tucked under the flower that is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals!

It's a fun and cheerful card!

Moving Forward 2

My card today uses one of the sets, Stampin' Up!'s Moving Forward. This is the Ronald McDonald House Charities set included in the catalog. For every set purchased, Stampin' Up! donates $2 towards the Ronald McDonald House Charities. I volunteer at the one in Columbus. We've made cards for them, we've baked cookies. It is a great charity to support…the families are so grateful for any little thing you do.

This card is for my great nephew who turned ONE a couple weeks ago! We weren't able to attend the party, but I need to mail off his gift. Since I usually wait until the last minute and need a card QUICKLY…I kept this clean and simple! Very fast to put together! Is anyone else like me? Besides…he's ONE…he won't even look at the card! lol!

The base of the card is Pool Party. I layered on Whisper White. Then I cut a thin 3/8" strip of the striped paper in Storybook Friends Designer Paper and cut three pieces 4" long. Those are layered on the front. I cut a Label Framelit from the Riding Hood Red checked pattern in that same designer paper series. That is placed on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals. I used my markers to ink up the boat image with Wild Wasabi,, Pool Party and Riding Hood Red Stampin' Write Markers and stamped on Whisper White, then cut it out. The boat is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals, too. Of course, I had to add a little bling…a Rhinestone Jewel at the top of the sail!

Have a great week…it is a little cooler here, thank goodness! I need to finish up the gifts and swaps I need for Convention this week. And, hopefully get to stamp some things to post on my blog while I'm gone!

HAPPY 4th of JULY!

Happy 4th of July…early! I had some time this morning to whip up a quick card since my hubby had to go into work for a few hours. We'll head for the Lake in a little bit and enjoy the fireworks tonight!

As I know I mentioned before, I used less than 1/2 of Pinwheels on Parade Scrappin' Kit for my project this week on Create with Connie and Mary New Catalog 2012 Edition. On this card are a few more pieces that I had left over from the 1/2 a kit. You really get a LOT for your money with those kits!

The base of the card is Midnight Muse. I cut it 5 1/2 x 7, then scored at 4 1/4. That made the front shorter than the back. I added a front panel of Whisper White that I ran thru the Big Shot with the Chevron Folder. I adhered three of the pennants, conveniently colored in red/white/blue to the top…hanging over the edge. I used markers to color Happy 4th of July stamp from an OLD retired set, More Great Greetings and stamped on Whisper White, then punched with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch. It fit perfectly inside the red/white/blue medallion from the Scrappin' Kit and adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals. I added one of the Ribbon Trims from the Kit inside the card.

I think it turned out as a pretty neat 4th of July card! Have a happy and SAFE one!

Moving Forward

I like the name of the Ronald McDonald stamp set this year…moving forward. There's a message there. Something not just for kids, right? When life knocks us down, we pick ourselves up and keep Moving Forward. The fires in Colorado, the wicked storms in midwest, DC and the east coast…my thoughts and prayers go out to all of them. My brother is still without power (as of late last night), luckily he has a generator so isn't suffering too bad. Of course, he also has some place to go if his family needs to…we have plenty of room! So, my card today is in dedication to those struggling right now and in need of a lift..keep on Moving Forward.

We are featuring the new catalog's Simply Scrappin' Kits this week on Create with Connie and Mary! It is so fun to see what the designers come up with using these Kits. My project later this week features the Pinwheels on Parade Kit…I used way less than 1/2 of Kit for my project, so I used some of those extras for this card!

Isn't that paper in the Pinwheels kit cheerful? It uses two of the new In Colors…Summer Starfruit and Midnight Muse…love it paired with Real Red and Baja Breeze! The base of my card is Baja Breeze. I layered on Real Red with a piece of the Designer paper along the bottom. I wrapped some Midnight Muse Satin Stitched Ribbon around and tied a knot!

I inked up the bicycle image from Stampin' Up!'s Moving Forward Stamp Set with my Stampin' Write Markers in Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse and Real Red and stamped on Whisper White. I punched it with the 2 1/2" Circle punch, then layered it on more of the Kit's designer paper cut with the 3" Circle Die. That is popped up on the front of the card. I added a couple adhesive die cut pieces from the kit up in the corner and the greeting "Hello, dear friend" from the stamp set was inked with markers and stamped on Whisper White, then adhered between the two layers.

CCMC-NC2 – Make A Cake

This week we have a fun sketch challenge for our subscribers of Create with Connie and Mary New Catalog 2012 Edition! We'd thought you'd like to see what our Design Team did with it!

We're at the end of Week 2 and featured The Big Event stamps in the New Catalog! Make A Cake is one that I earned for free from Stampin' Up! so I thought I'd use it (and a few others did, too!)

I started with a base of Primrose Petals, one of the new In Colors, and layered on Whisper White. I cut strips of Patio Party Designer Paper and cut a pennant tail on them. I also curled the edges just slightly. I stamped the Make A Cake images with Midnight Muse on a piece of the Heart Pattern DSP from Patio Party and cut them out, then layered them on another stamped image on Summer Starfruit. I added an Itty Bitty flower punch of Primrose Petals with a mini brad in the center on top. I punched it with the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch and layered on a 2 1/2" Circle of Primrose Petals. All was popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals on the front. Finally, I stamped the greeting from Petite Pairs in Midnight Muse in the lower left corner!
