Stampin' Up!

Look Up to Father

I just recently purchased Stampin' Up!'s stamp set, Look Up to Father, and couldn't wait to use it!  I'm fortunate to have both my father and my father-in-law still with us.  I'll be using this set for my Father's Day cards this year.  I used the sketch from this week's Technostampers Lunchtime Sketch Challenge!  I haven't played along in SOOOO long!

Here's my take on the sketch.  I purposely kept it simple and without embellishments.  I had debated on a button, but thought it looked more masculine without and I didn't want to cover up any of the Designer Paper.

 

Look up to Father

  1. The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Soft Suede folded in half.
  2. I added a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Pistachio Pudding Venetian Romance Designer Paper to the front.
  3. I first inked up the Look up to Father image with Pistachio Pudding ink.  I colored the tree trunk with the Early Espresso Marker and then used Wild Wasabi, Garden Green and Always Artichoke Markers and the Thumping Technique to get the variety of colors on the leaves and grass, then stamped it on a 3 x 4 piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.
  4. I layered the Very Vanilla on a 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 piece of Wild Wasabi and placed on the front.
  5. Across it, I used the Soft Suede pattern in Venetian Romance DSP package in a 3 7/8 x 1" size.
  6. I stamped the words again from Look Up to Father with Soft Suede ink on a strip of Wild Wasabi cardstock, then cut flag ends.
  7. At the last minute, I punched some Soft Suede chevrons with the Chevron Punch and added them at the top…I thought it balanced the Soft Suede color on the front.

So…what do you think?  I love how it turned out…just like what was in my head!  lol!

Eggstra Spectacular again

Each week I say I want to play along with The Paper Players and Freshly Made Sketches and each week time gets away from me and I don't get the challenges done.  This week I'm able to combine both of the challenges into one.

Here's my card combining both challenges and using Stampin' Up! Eggstra Spectacular stamp set.  This little lamb is SOOO cute!

The details:

  1. The base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Whisper White, folded in half.
  2. I added a 5 1/4 x 4 layer of Smoky Slate on top.
  3. I cut a 1 3/4 x 3 1/2 layer of Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper per the sketch.
  4. I cut a 1 1/2 x 3 piece of Whisper White and stamped the lamb with Black Stazon.  I watercolored it with Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, Summer Starfruit and Smoky Slate makers and AquaPainter.
  5. I cut a 1 x 1 1/2 piece of Pistachio Pudding cardstock, then used the Fringe Scissors along the bottom.
  6. I tied the Summer Starfruit Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack Twine around three times and tied a bow.

See, I told you…super simple, but very SWEET!  I love it!

You’re Lovely

Here's a quick and easy card using a couple punches and the Deco Label Framelits!  The Postage Stamp Punch is one that I haven't used much, but it looks awesome with the Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper for the background!

Here are the details:

  1. The base is 4 1/4 x 11 of Pool Party cardstock, folded in half with the fold on the left side…just a little different way!
  2. Cut a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Basic Black cardstock for the background layer.
  3. Punch 10 Postage Stamp squares from Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper (you don't need the two in the center).  Start placing the end ones first, then fill in towards the centers.
  4. Cut the second from smallest Deco Label Framelit from Pool Party cardstock and place in the center.
  5. Stamp You're Lovely image with Black Stazon on Whisper White and cut out with the smallest Deco Label Framelit. 
  6. Watercolor the image with Summer Starfruit and Pear Pizzazz Markers.  Add the Pool Party greeting from Petite Pairs (or use one of the greetings in the You're Lovely set).  Pop up on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  7. Punch 3 Petite Petals flowers from Summer Starfruit cardstock.  Add to front around label and place Rhinestones in the center.

It's time for another Thursday Challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary!  This time we have a beautiful color challenge for you!  Of course, with the bright pink and green, I had to go with flowers…don't you think?  But, I'm amazed at what the Challenge Team did for us over on Create with Connie and Mary!  Check it out!

I used the Sale-a-Bration set, Petal Parade for my card, combined with the In Color Patterns Paper.  I thought it sort of looked like a trellis behind the flowers!

Here are the details:

  1. The base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Whisper White, folded in half.
  2. I added a 5 1/4 x 4 piece of Strawberry Slush In Color Patterns Designer Paper Pack.
  3. On a 3 3/4 x 2 1/4 piece of Whisper White, I stamped the flowers in Strawberry Slush and Old Olive inks randomly.  I layered it on a 3 7/8 x 2 3/8 piece of Basic Black cardstock and popped it up on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  4. I stamped the arrows with Old Olive Ink in a line across a 3/4" x 5 1/4 strip of Old Olive cardstock and adhered it across the top portion of the card.
  5. I stamped the flower with Strawberry Slush Ink on Whisper White, then cut it with the Starburst Framelit.  The Rhinestone Jewel is supposed to be in the MIDDLE of the flower…it must have gotten knocked off and I didn't notice!  lol!
  6. I layered the flower on a 1 3/8" circle of Basic Black cardstock and placed on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  7. I stamped Thinking of You from Teeny Tiny Wishes on a 1/2" strip of Strawberry Slush and tucked it under the circle.

SUOC92 You’re Lovely

This week on SUO Challenges, we have a color combination of using Pinks and Purples.  Can can be either or both combined!  I went with the combination of both on my card!  I've seen several different versions of these fringe scissor cards online, and I also did a different one for our Club last month!  I love how the cardstock looks ruffled.  So, here's my pink and purple combination.

Here are some details:

  1. The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Whisper White folded in half.
  2. I used Pink Pirouette, Strawberry Slush, Rose Red and Rich Razzleberry for the layers and fringed the bottoms with the Fringe Scissors about 1" from the bottom.  They are adhered together and then placed on the front of the base.
  3. I added a piece of the Strawberry Slush Ruffled Ribbon to hide the seam at the top.
  4. I stamped the You're Lovely image from the Sale-A-Bration set in Rich Razzleberry ink, then cut out with the Deco Label Framelit.  I also cut a solid Rich Razzleberry one to adhere behind the stamped image.  Both are popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  5. I colored the flowers in the image with Pink Pirouette and Pear Pizzazz markers.
  6. Finally, I added two Rose Red Candy Dots above the ribbon on the left side.

We have a pretty color combination for you to try this week over on the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  At first I was kind of tentative on how to use them!

But, here is my card using the Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper again.  This print had both the Pistachio Pudding and Summer Starfruit colors in it.

Here are the details:

  1. I started with a 4 1/4 x 11 piece of Whisper White cardstock, folded in half.
  2. I added a 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Pistachio Pudding cardstock on top.
  3. I also added a 4 x 3 1/2 piece of Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper at the top. 
  4. Next I used a 1/2 x 4 piece of Summer Starfruit cardstock to hide the seam.
  5. The greeting is from the Hostess set, Simply Sketch (LOVE the greetings in this set!) and I stamped it in the bottom right corner with Black Stazon.
  6. I cut a Starburst Framelit from Basic Black and used it for the background of the So Very Grateful flower.
  7. The flower was stamped with Black Stazon and watercolored with Pistachio Pudding and Summer Starfruit Markers and an AquaPainter.  I carefully cut around the image and placed on the Starburst Framelit with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  8. I colored some small Rhinestones with a Black Sharpie and placed them in the center of the flowers.
  9. I added a few more Rhinestones along the background.

Fringe Flower

We have a fun sketch challenge for you today over on Create with Connie and Mary..super simple!  Come play along!

I've only played around with the fringe scissors a couple times.  I decided this sketch would be perfect to make a flower.  The challenge is keeping the flower "stem" low enough so that it looks good on the front of a card.

I've also been wanting to learn how to do the Sunburst Technique with Designer Paper.  It was easier than I thought it would be!  I used the soft colors in Watercolor Wonder for mine and made the points show under the flower where I wanted the focus to be.

  1. The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock, folded in half.
  2. I stamped the bottom of the front with the little line of flowers from You're Lovely SAB, then added tiny pearls in each center.
  3. I started the Sunburst Technique with a 4 1/4 x 3 3/4 piece of scrap cardstock, then cut my diagonal pieces to fit across it.
  4. Across the top of the Sunburst piece, I stamped the greeting from Sweet Essentials with Gumball Green ink on 1/2 strip Whisper White.
  5. The fringe flower was made with a 2 x 10 piece of DSP, folded in half lengthwise and adhered, then added Sticky Strip across one end and fringed the bottom portion.  I rolled it up and then flattened it out, leaving the loops in the flower "petals" as much as possible.  I added two Gumball Green bird wing leaves under the flower.
  6. In the center, I placed a green Glimmer Brad with Mini Glue Dots (it doesn't fit all the way thru).
  7. It was placed on the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
