It's time for another Thursday Challenge on Create with Connie and Mary!  It's a sketch this week, and a FUN one at that!  As usual, I'm amazed at our Challenge Team and how many different looks they can make with one sketch. 

 

 

In my opinion, Winter Wonderland is one of the cutest "winter" theme stamps we've had in a long while.  I like that they aren't Christmasy…just wintery ideas!  Hmmm, maybe I should use this set for my Christmas cards.  I always do a snowflake or snowman theme, but this sort of fits, don't you think?  In fact…I really like this card…maybe I should use it for my card this year!

 

 

OK…here are the details!

  1. The base of the card is Cherry cobbler, cut 4 1/4 x 11 and folded in half.
  2. The layer of 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White I ran thru the Big Shot on only the top half with the Perfect Polka Dots folder.
  3. I added the 2 x 5" strip of Snow Festival Designer Paper diagonally across the Whisper White, then trimmed off the extra on the sides.
  4. I stamped Happy Christmas from More Merry Messages in Cherry Cobbler under the DSP.
  5. Cut the Apothecary Accents piece from Cherry Cobbler, layer on a rectangle of Silver Glimmer paper inside.
  6. Stamp the ice skater image with Black Stazon.  I used my AquaPainter and Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler, Blush Blossom (face), Pink Pirouette (cheeks) and Bashful Blue (snowflakes & ice) to color.
  7. I punched with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch, then layered on a 2" Gumball Green circle.
  8. Finally, I added Rhinestone jewels to her hat and the top and bottom of the Apothecary Accent piece.

Although this definitely is Christmas themed, change the colors and greeting for any winter occasion!

WOOHOO!!!  One of my girlfriends arrives today in preparation of the stamping retreat this weekend…a nice LONG stamping retreat…5 days and 4 nights!  I can hardly wait!  Another one (or 2 or 3) is meeting us there tomorrow, and still others coming in Friday!  LOVE it!  I have lots of things planned to work on, including my cards for the Card "Create"tions edition!  And, of course, my personal Christmas Cards.  I always try to take the time to do those since the rest of my schedule until Christmas is crazy!

 

Here's a card that I made using "parts" on my desk.  I'm trying to clean it off and pack a little.  These little snowmen were sitting there just calling for me to make them into a card!

 

 

I decided to go with a "non-traditional" color scheme.  It may be hard to see, but I used Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette and Melon Mambo for my snowmen card!  I like them dressed up in pink!

  1. The base of the card is Baja Breeze.
  2. The Frosty Friends snowmen were stamped with Black Stazon on Whisper White and cut with the Labels Framelit.  I colored them with Stampin' Write Markers.
  3. I added a piece of Snow Festival Designer Paper and layered the Adorning Accents scalloped Edgelit at the top.
  4. I cut two of the snowflakes die from Silver Glimmer and Pink Pirouette and layered them together with Stampin' Dimensionals. 
  5. The greeting is from More Merry Messages and stamped in Melon Mambo on Whisper White, then punched with the 1" Circle Punch.  A rhinestone is in the center.
  6. Finally, I added extra sparkle with Clear Dazzling Details for the snow covered ground!

 

FUN!!!  Love my snowmen!

SUOC56 – No Peeking

It's time for another Stampin' Up! Only Challenges!  This time we needed to use "Animals" on our card.  Well, narrowing it down was more difficult that I thought it would be!  Finally I settled on a new set I haven't used, No Peeking stamp set, and the cutest little penguin in it!  I hope you can see the glimmer on here!

 

 

I used lots of different designs in the Snow Festival Designer Paper package!  The different patterns coordinate so well together!

 

  1. The base of the card is Naturals White cardstock. 
  2. I cut a piece of Snow Festival striped Designer Paper and layered it on Cherry Cobbler cardstock.
  3. I wrapped the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon around and tied a pretty bow.
  4. Along the right side, I added some Silver Glimmer Paper.
  5. I used the Hearts Framelits and cut two different patterns of Snow Festival DSP and layered them on top of each other.
  6. I stamped the Penguin from No Peeking with Black Stazon on Whisper White and cut him out.  He is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals on the smaller heart.  I punched a little "owl" eye from Silver Glimmer Paper for the pom-pom on top of his hat!
  7. I inked the greeting from the same set with Cherry Cobbler, then colored the wreath with Gumball Green and stamped on Whisper White.  I cut the "flag" end with Paper Snips.

CCMC222 – For the Birds

Today's challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary is a color challenge!  You have to check out what the Design Team did with the color challenge…from everyday…to fall…to the holidays!  It is amazing how differently we interpreted it!  AND…stay tuned!  Mary and I will have an exciting announcement next week…we can't WAIT to share it!

 

 

I've been determined to use my For the Birds stamp set…I think the images are so cute and I've only used the Christmas one before.  So…I sat down and made up a few challenges using it!  You'll be seeing them over the next few weeks!

 

 

This came together with a crisp and clean look!

 

  1. The bird was stamped with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink on Very Vanilla, then cut with the smallest Labels Framelit.
  2. I watercolored with Summer Starfruit and Gumball green markers and my AquaPainter.  The next, I just ran the AquaPainter over the Chocolate Chip stamped ink to make it bleed and color slightly.
  3. I cut another Labels Framelit the next size larger from Summer Starfruit and pierced around it with the Festive Piercing Pack.
  4. The base card is Very Vanilla and I layered a strip of Comfort Cafe Designer Paper on front.
  5. I added a strip of Gumball Green stamped with Happy Birthday from Wackiest Birthday Wishes in Chocolate Chip Ink, and cut with a flag end.
  6. I then trimmed out the bottom with the Dotted Scallop RIbbon Border of Chocolate Chip.
  7. Finally, I added a bow of Very Vanilla Seam Binding.

Frightening Feline 2

This Frightening Feline stamp was one of the first ones I purchased from the Holiday Mini.  However, I just figured out that I've only used it a couple times.  Once on my Control Freaks Swap and another card after that.  Since it is almost Halloween, I thought I'd better get it out and play with it a little more before Halloween passes me by!  This fits the Halloween Blog Hop, too!

 

 

 

This is one of those cards that come together thru "parts" on my desk! 

  1. Frightening Feline was already stamped with Basic Black on Basic Gray and punched 2 1/2" Circle punch.
  2. The Basic Black Apothecary Accent framelit was already cut.
  3. The strip of plaid Howlstooth and Scaringbone Designer Paper already trimmed to size, I layered it on Basic Gray cardstock.
  4. The Tangerine Tango polka dot background just needed a little trimming to fit on the front of the Basic Gray card.
  5. I added the 1/2" Striped Ribbon and tied a knot on the front.
  6. I also colored two Rhinestone jewels with a Black Sharpie for the eyes, then added a trio at the top and bottom of the accent piece.

 

Is it spooky enough for you?  I love it!  I also have another Halloween card idea stuck in my head and need to get it out.  Hope to work on that today, plus prep for my fun Scentsational Seasons class coming up on Friday!

 

Oh…did you notice my new watermark?  I was playing around with Photoshop Elements and learning how to make watermarks!  I made up a few for myself for fall and winter!  Pretty cool!  lol!

Full of Blessings

WOW…this weekend really felt like FALL and FOOTBALL weather!  Our leaves are really turning beautiful colors in Ohio.  My husband has been off the past few days (and my son and DIL in town for the OSU/Nebraska game…GO BUCKS!), so we did quite a bit of driving around the area.  We picked out my pumpkins and purchased some fresh picked apples…Suncrisp…they are REALLY good!  NIce sweet/tart and crunchy…my favorite!  Trying to convince my hubby that we need some cornstalks for the front porch!  lol!

 

Full of Blessings is a favorite of mine this fall.  I love coloring the pumpkins! 

 

 

Here are the details!

  1. Base card is Cajun Craze and I ran the front thru the Big Shot with the Woodgrain texture folder.
  2. I cut a 2 1/2 x 4 3/4 piece of the cross stitch background from Orchard Harvest Designer Paper and layered it on 2 5/8 x 4 7/8" Early Espresso cardstock.
  3. I cut the Apothecary Accents piece from Island Indigo cardstock and layered on top.
  4. The focal image is stamped with Black Stazon on a 2 1/8 x 3 5/8" piece of Very Vanilla and layered on 2 1/4 x 3 3/4" Early Espresso.  I popped it up with Stampin Dimensionals.
  5. I watercolored the image with my AquaPainter and More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Lucky Limeade, Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso Stampin' Write Markers.
  6. I wrapped a double length of Linen Thread around and tied a bow
  7. Then cut a leaf from Lucky Limeade with the Autumn Accents die and stamped Give thanks from Full of Blessings stamp set in Early Espresso on top.  It is also popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals on front.

Here's my card using Wonderful Winterland…a cute little winter set in the Holiday Mini!  I haven't seen many samples using it…but it is too darling not to include!

 

 

My card is kind of generic…could be used for a variety of winter occasions…birthday, thinking of you…whatever.  But, I felt the greeting was appropriate to the image!  Here's the details:

 

  1. The base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Gumball Green cardstock folded in half.
  2. I added a 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Cherry Cobbler, embossed with the Lacy Brocade folder.
  3. I included a 2 x 5 1/4 strip of Snow Festival Designer Paper across the bottom (I made sure the hearts were showing!)
  4. The Gumball Green 3/8 Satin Stitch Ribbon covers the seam.  And I also made a "free standing" bow.
  5. I cut  Primrose Petals Window Framelit and tucked it partially under the DSP. 
  6. I stamped the Wonderful Winterland image with Black Stazon on Whisper White and watercolored with my Stampin' Write Markers in Cherry Cobbler, Primrose Petals, Gumball Green and Soft Suede.  I cut the next smaller Framelit and layered it on top with Stampin' Dimensionals and added the bow.
  7. I stamped the greeting from Petite Pairs in Black Stazon and used the smallest Window Framelit to cut it out.  It is layered on top with more Stampin' Dimensionals!

This is fun special fold card with a cut out window!  Here are the details!

  1. Cut two pieces of Cherry Cobbler cardstock at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. 
  2. With the 5 1/2 at the top of the Simply Scored Tool, score at 1/2, 1, 4 1/2 & 5.
  3. On top piece, cut a window with the Window Frame Framelit between the score lines.
  4. Stamp Winter Memories image on a 3 1/4 x 4 piece of Whisper White with Black Stazon.  Watercolor with AquaPainter and Stampin' Up! Markers, adhere inside back panel.
  5. Adhere the two side edges together with Sticky Strip.
  6. Push the score lines out opposite on the front and back to make it form a 3D window (from edge, valley then mountain folds).
  7. Decorate the side 1/2 panels with Be of Good Cheer Designer Paper.
  8. Add 1/2" strip of Gumball Green, stamped with Warm Winter Wishes greeting on front.
  9. Add Rhinestone jewels on each side of greeting for some extra bling.
