It's Thursday and time for Create with Connie and Mary's Challenge! We have a beautiful color challenge for you today…perfect for Valentine's, so that is what I did! We are in the middle of Week 1 for the Spring Edition 2013 and our designers are showing off LOTS of fun projects! Why don't you join us? Here's my card using the color challenge this week. Love that Hearts a Flutter bundle…stamps and framelits! There are some subtle details on this card, so you need to look close!

Here are the details!

The base card is 4 1/4 x 11 of Raspberry Ripple, folded in half.
The Whisper White 4 x 5 1/4 layer has been partially embossed with the Chevron Folder, I left a top portion un-embossed for the greeting.
Be My Valentine from Delightful Dozen was stamped in Lucky Limeade and I added a Small Heart Punch of Raspberry Ripple with a rhinestone jewel.
I stamped a 1 x 4 strip of Lucky Limeade with Lucky Limeade ink, using the pennant shape in the Hearts a Flutter stamp set…I liked how it gave me a striped pattern without using DSP!
The small hearts were stamped in Pink Pirouette and Raspberry Ripple, cut with the heart framelit, then scattered along the Lucky Limeade strip. I popped up a couple of them with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Finally, I tucked the larger scallop heart stamped with Raspberry Ripple and cut with the framelit, added a smaller solid heart inside and added another rhinestone jewel. It is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals, too!

Made for a sweet little Valentine card!

Day 6 – Bloomin’ Marvelous

This card is a little different for me! Remember when we didn't have a wonderful selection of designer papers like we do now? We used to "make" our own designer paper using stamps. That's what I did here with the Bloomin' Marvelous stamps…available during Sale-A-Bration in just a few more days!

Here are the details:

The base card is 4 1/4 x 11 of Pink Pirouette cardstock, folded in half.
I layered on Cherry Cobbler cut to 4 x 5 1/4.
The 3 7/8 x 5 1/8" Whisper White panel is stamped with Cherry Cobbler flowers, Pink Pirouette butterflies and Lucky Limeade leaves randomly all over.
I cut a 2 x 5" strip of Lucky Limeade and embossed with the Honeycomb folder, then cut the flag end.
The Heart is punched out of the Oval cut with the oval Framelits. Under it is a piece of Whisper White stamped with the flower and leaf stamps. The flower was popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.
I stamped Miracles Happen in Cherry Cobbler on Pink Pirouette and punched it with the Decorative Label punch, put it back in and punched so that it was a smaller size.
Finally, I added a Pink Pirouette butterfly with rhinestone body.

What do you think? Do you like it? I think it turned out pretty cool!

Day 2 Preview – Hearts a Flutter

Well, I'm back from a WONDERFUL time at Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Convention in Orlando, Florida! I SO enjoyed catching up, laughing and hugging my friends from ALL over the country. In honor of Melissa Davies' cute Valentine Favor today on Create with Connie and Mary, I'm showing off a card that my Cards Class did this month using Hearts a Flutter and That's the Ticket!

LOTS of new products from the Spring mini catalog!

The base card is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 of Real Red, folded in half.
I added a 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Whisper White, embossed with the Honeycomb folder.
The scallop heart was cut from the specialty paper in More Amore.
On top, I placed the zig zag heart image from Hearts a Flutter, stamped in Real Red on Whisper White and cut with the framelit and a little pearl added to one side. I also added a Basic Black "tag"…one of the Hearts a Flutter framelits turned upside down and tied with Crochet Trim and Linen Thread.
The trio of flowers were added with Mini Glue Dots across the bottom (inspired by Elizabeth Price!)
Admit One and Happy Valentine's Day from That's the Ticket were stamped in Black Stazon and Real Red, punched with the TIcket Duo and tucked under the scallop heart.

My little favor today was one that I swapped at Leadership in a Candy Swap. It turned out so much cuter than I had even thought in my head! Even my husband really thought it was cute and he rarely says anything! lol! It holds a full size Rolo candy "bar".

Want to know how to make it? Here we go!

I used the narrow tag from the Two Tags Die and cut two from Melon Mambo cardstock.
Score 5/8" from the bottom end on both tags to make the base.
Adhere to a 1 x 1 3/4" rectangle of Melon Mambo cardstock to secure and create the base.
Punch a 1 1/4" Scallop Circle out of the top of the front tag.
Cut a 1 1/2 x 6" strip of Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Paper, score at 1/2, 1 1/2, 3 1/4 & 4 1/4.
Starting at the back with the 1/2" tab, secure, then wrap it around to the front, using the score lines to create a "box" around both the tags. You will end up in the back again and overlap the 1/2" tab.
I decorated the front with a 1/4" strip of Marina Mist, stamped in Night of Navy with "Thanks a ton!"
I stamped the whale with Melon Mambo ink on Whisper White and cut it with the Whale Clearlit Die. I added a rhinestone for the eye and tied a bow of White Baker's Twine on the tail.
The spout of water was stamped with Night of Navy on Whisper White and handcut out, then adhered with a Mini Glue Dot to the front.
I cut more Designer Paper 3 x 4 1/4 to wrap around the Rolo candy, adhering it securely.
I tied the Marina Mist 3/8 Striped Organdy Ribbon around the candy roll and tied a bow.
On the bottom of the candy roll, I adhered a punched 3/4" circle of cardstock so that I could use Mini Glue Dots to hold the candy end in place on the bottom of the holder. It just secured it better than the gold foil wrapper did.
Slide the Rolo candy from the front to inside the box, the scallop circle hole helps hold it in place!

Have you been enjoying the announcements of the Create with Connie and Mary Guest Designers this week? We have one more for you tomorrow and then the regular Design Team on Saturday! However, today it is time for our challenge…it's a pretty COLOR challenge this week!

I actually ended up making a couple different cards using this color combination…very soft and pretty looking, I think! I used By the Tides for this one! The other one will be my SUDSOL swap card at Leadership, so you'll see it when I return!

Here are the details!

The base is 4 1/4 x 11 of Pink Pirouette folded in half to form base card.
I added a layer of 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White and stamped on the lower right corner with the script image in Pink Pirouette several times.
On the bottom left, I added a 2 1/4 x 2 3/4 rectangle of Print Poetry Designer Paper.
I added Midnight Muse ribbon and secured it to the back of the Whisper White, then added the layer to the front of the Pink Pirouette base.
I stamped Thinking of You from Sassy Salutations in Midnight Muse in the upper left corner.
The sea fan image is stamped with Versamark on Pink Pirouette and embossed with White Embossing Powder. I added Pink Pirouette ink with my sponge dauber around the image to make it pop and around the edges of the Label Framelit I cut.
The sea horse image was stamped twice on Whisper White with Midnight Muse and cut out, the placed with Stampin' Dimensionals on the label.
I stamped the Nantucket image in Midnight Muse and punched with the 1" Circle punch, and placed on the front with a Stampin' Dimensional, too.

Hearts a Flutter

It's Day 2 of our Guest Designer Announcements on Create with Connie and Mary! Our designer today is using LOTS of hearts on her project for the Spring Edition 2013! She shows off a card today with her introduction…go check out WHO it is at Create with Connie and Mary! We know you LOVE her work (and hint…so does Stampin' Up!)

I used Hearts a Flutter on my card today to celebrate her heart theme!

Can you believe I JUST opened my package of More Amore Designer Paper! I don't know what I was waiting for…I love the patterns in it. AND…useful for more than Valentine's Day projects! See that chevron pattern at the bottom…love it! And the linky pattern in one of the hearts…love it, too! Here are the details:

The base is Pool Party cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded in half.
I layered on 4 x 5 1/4 Very Vanilla cardstock.
At the bottom, the heart pattern from More Amore DSP measures 1 1/2 x 5 1/4, then I cut a 1/2 x 5 1/4 strip of the chevron pattern to go on top.
I hid the seam there with a piece of Sycamore Street Ribbon (Pool Party)…it's one of the new Sale-A-Bration packs coming soon!
In the upper right corner, I pierced the Heart image with the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack. Then punched the Full Heart from DSP.
Next I stamped the Hearts A Flutter heart image with Black Stazon on Primrose Petals cardstock and cut it out with the matching Hearts a Flutter Framelits.
Finally, for some major bling, I thread the Calypso Coral Bakers Twine thru a Vintage Faceted Designer Button and placed it in one of the small Soda Pop Tops…that I ran thru the Big Shot to smash.
I stamped Be My Valentine from Delightful Dozen stamp set in Pool Party ink.

And…it's Thursday…and that means we have a NEW challenge! We are doing a sketch challenge this week on Create with Connie and Mary…and it is a FUN one so we hope you play along! Since I had my Oh Whale! stamp set out already…I decided it use it again for my challenge card this week!

And here is my Oh Whale! card! As I mentioned yesterday, I love the greetings in this set! This one is perfect for Valentine's Day!

Here are the details:

I took my colors from the upcoming Sale-A-Bration Designer Paper, Sycamore Street! I thought the swirls in the one pattern looked like waves.
I cut three rectangles of the wave DSP to 1 x 3-1/2 and layered them on 1 1/8 x 3 5/8" of Pool Party cardstock.
I cut the medallion print at 1 3/4 x 5 1/2, then cut the flag end. It is layered on 1 7/8 x 5 1/2 Pool Party, and matched the flag end.
I stamped the whale from that cute Oh Whale! stamp set in Rich Razzleberry on Whisper White and cut it with the clearlit die. I added a rhinestone for the eye and tied Pool Party Bakers Twine in a bow around the tail.
I made a pennant banner from Summer Starfruit, folding back the ends, and stamped the greeting, Whale you be mine? in Rich Razzleberry on it. I added rhinestones on each of the ends, too.
Finally, I placed the whale and banner on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals, then stamped the heart "spout" with Rich Razzleberry directly on the designer paper.

I must admit…I was SO wrong about this set. I really do LOVE it! I didn't know if I really would get much use out of it, but it is so whimsical, I can see me reaching for it quite frequently!

Oh Whale!

WOOHOO!!!! Time to play with NEW Spring Mini products! This is one of the cards that my Spring Card Class will be doing next Monday, January 7th! Come join us if you are in the Columbus, Ohio area! We'll be doing 4 cards using NEW products from the Spring Mini…6:30 PM…see my events page for more information.

I used the sketch over on Splitcoaststampers today to start my card. I thought the layout was perfect for waves under my whale!

Here is my interpretation using the fun new set, Oh Whale! I love that it has the greetings in with the set…four different options with clever sayings like the "Whalecome"!

The base of the card is 4 1/4 x 11 Whisper White folded in half.
I added a Bashful Blue 3 3/4 x 5 layer of Bashful Blue and embossed with the new Cloudy Day folder.
I added waves with the Tasteful Trim XL Die in Bashful Blue, Marina Mist and Not Quite Navy.
A 1/2 x 4 1/4 strip of Whisper White is stamped with the "Whalecome" greeting in Primrose Petals ink.
The whale is also stamped in Primrose Petals and cut with the Whale framelit die.
The 1/8" Marina Mist bow is tied and applied with a Mini Glue Dot on the tale of the whale.
I embossed a scrap piece of Whisper White with the Cloudy Day folder and cut out one set of the clouds, popped up on the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
The waterspout is stamped with Not Quite Navy ink on the background.
Finally, some Rhinestone Jewels across the bottom waves and for her little eye.

Isn't this sweet???? I love how it turned out. I'm SOOOO excited to be back in my stamp room today…it is all cleaned up and ready to play and work on Leadership swaps!
