CCMC723 – Apple Harvest

It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. This month our challenges will be to “case the catalog”. Each week we have a new card design to inspire us taken right from the catalog…we could use the colors, the layout, or the stamp set and dies. I’ve chosen the layout for today’s card!

APPLE HARVEST

I love the realistic look to the apples in the Apple Harvest stamp set and thought it would be perfect for this layout! I did alter where the greeting label was placed just slightly.

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 3 x 4-1/4 piece of Parakeet Party In Color Designer Paper was added to a 3-1/8 x 4-3/8 piece of Early Espresso cardstock, then adhered to the front.
The large, long label from Stylish Shapes Dies was cut from Sweet Sorbet cardstock and added across the center.
The apple branch was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White cardstock, then colored with Dark Mint Macaron and Parakeet Party Combo Blends for the leaves. The apples were colored with Dark Calypso Coral and Sweet Sorbet Combo Blends. The stems were colored with SU100 and SU400 Neutrals. It was hand-cut and added to the center with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The greeting was stamped on Basic White cardstock with Early Espresso Ink and cut with the long skinny label from Stylish Shapes, then adhered off to the left of the card so more of the apples showed.
A trio of Red Rhinestones were added to the background for a little bling!

I thought that turned out pretty well and definitely cased the card sample from the catalog, don’t you? OK, go check out what the rest of the Challenge Team did with this challenge over on Create with Connie and Mary!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!

It’s time for our Create with Connie and Mary Inspiration Monday challenge! Wow! June is over and now we are in July! In the US, there is a huge celebration for the 4th of July holiday! Our inspiration photo featuring this cute patriotic gnome just fits right in!

KINDEST GNOME

Of course, Stampin’ Up! just introduced the July-December Mini Catalog and Kindest Gnome Bundle worked great all done up in red, white, and blue!

Stampin’ Details:

- The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Orchid Oasis cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
- The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Crumb Cake was embossed with the Timber Embossing Folder and added to the front.
- A 1/4 x 4 piece of Sweet Sorbet striped In Colors DSP was added to the bottom of the Crumb Cake, then a 1 x 4 piece of the Orchid Oasis plaid DSP added above it.
- The gnome hat was cut with the Gnome Die from In Color polka dot DSP, the feet from the Sweet Sorbet stripe DSP. The beard was cut from Basic White cardstock. They were added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- The star was punched from new White Glimmer Paper with the Starlit Punch and added to the hat with a Mini Glue Dot.
- The greeting was stamped on a 1-5/8 x 1-5/8 piece of Basic White with Sweet Sorbet Ink and cut with a flag end.
- A 1 x 1 piece of Sweet Sorbet was adhered to the Basic White greeting and cut with a flag end.
- A 1/4 x 1 piece of Orchid Oasis cardstock was cut with a flag end and added under the Sweet Sorbet. All were added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- A trio of Iridescent Rhinestones were added to the background!

CCMC716 – Heron Habitat

It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. We have a fun color challenge for you this week! Wonder what everyone will use for their mystery color!

HERON HABITAT

Something about this Heron Habitat stamp set appealed to me from the very first! I couldn’t wait to use it for this challenge! Maybe because our Florida home is right next to the White Heron Golf Course, so we see a LOT of them around here! I also used the new Deckle Rectangle Dies…seriously LOVE them! My “any color” choice was Pool Party!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Pool Party cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Basic White cardstock was cut with the Deckle Rectangle Dies. (Save the cut-out piece for another project!)
I backed the opening with a 2-1/2 x 4 piece of Hues of Happiness Designer Paper, then added it to the base card.
The grass and cattails were cut with the Heron dies from Basic Black cardstock, and placed at the bottom of the opening. Another grass was cut with the Heron dies from Sahara Sand cardstock and trimmed, the adhered to the outside corner of the opening.
The heron was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Basic White cardstock and colored with the Sahara Sand Marker, the beak with Pumpkin Pie. It was cut with the Heron Dies an added to the outside of the opening with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the trimmed grass around it.
The birds were stamped with Memento Black Ink on the DSP.
The greeting from Heron Habitat was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Pool Party cardstock and cut with the label in the Heron Dies. It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A trio of Faux Sea Glass Shapes were added to the front.

Saturday Blog Hop – Easter Cards

This week’s Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is Easter Cards! It’s almost time to get your Easter cards in the mail, so we have a lineup of ideas for you!

HIPPO HAPPINESS

I wanted to use something a little unexpected and found this little lamb in the Hippo Happiness stamp set! I’ve used the dies a LOT, but not the stamp set. I thought it turned out SO sweet for Easter and would be a perfect baby card, too!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 2-3/4 x 5-1/4 piece of floral Pansy Petals Designer Paper was added to the right side.
Some Pale Papaya Open Weave Ribbon was wrapped around the coordinating 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 piece of gingham Pansy Petals DSP and tied in a bow. It was adhered across the front.
The label was cut from Fresh Freesia with the Hippo & Friends Dies, stamped with the Easter Blessings greeting from Daffodil Daydream stamp set in Memento Black Ink and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The smaller label was cut from Basic White cardstock with the Hippo & Friends Die and stamped the stem with Calypso Coral, the flower with Polished Pink, the leaves with Granny Apple Green. The ground was shaded with the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends.
The ewe background was stamped off with So Saffron Ink and the detail will full-strength So Saffron Ink. The face with Memento Black Ink. It was cut with the Hippo & Friends Dies an added to the label with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A yellow In Color Jewel was added to the center of the flower.

CCMC708 – Flowering Rain Boots

It’s Thursday and you know that means it is time for a Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge. Love today’s color challenge!

FLOWERING RAIN BOOTS

I’ve used this set SO much recently! I really liked how this one turned out!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Rich Razzleberry cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded. The front was embossed with the Gingham Embossing Folder.
A 2 x 5-1/2 piece of Flowering Tulips Designer Paper was added along the bottom.
A 1/4 x 5-1/2 strip of Fresh Freesia cardstock was added across the top of the DSP to hide the seam.
The next to largest Layering Circle was cut from Basic White cardstock with the Die, then stamped with the stems/leaves in Flowering Rain Boots and Soft Succulent Ink. They were colored with Light Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends. The tops were inked with Fresh Freesia then a sponge dauber used to add Rich Razzleberry Ink along the bottoms. Then the Light Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blends filled in the rest of the color on the blossoms. It was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The Rain or Shine greeting was stamped with Rich Razzleberry Ink on 5/8 x 3-1/4 piece of Soft Succulent cardstock and cut the flag ends. It was adhered to the circle.
A trio of Brushed Brass Butterflies were added to the background.

Creatively Simple 29 – Cactus Cuties

Welcome to Create with Connie and Mary’s Creatively Simple Challenge! Each month Mary and I will pick a theme…this month it is “Plants”, and we each create a simple card every week using that theme!

CACTUS CUTIES

This set is really SO cute and easy to make up some easy-to-put-together cacti! And this greeting is just FUN!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Just Jade cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
The 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Sahara Sand cardstock is embossed with the Timber Embossing Folder (carryover from the July-Dec Mini Catalog).
A 3/4 x 3-1/4 piece of In Good Taste DSP was added towards the bottom.
The large cactus was stamped with Just Jade Ink, the container with Bumblebee Ink, the other plant with Cherry Cobbler Ink and that container (trimmed from the larger one) in Misty Moonlight Ink. All were stamped on Basic White cardstock and hand-cut, then placed on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some Linen Thread was doubled and tied in a bow, then added to the plant.
The greeting from Cactus Cuties was stamped with Misty Moonlight Ink and cut with the rectangle die in Picture This Dies. It was added with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some Playing With Patterns Resin Dots were added to the cactus.

I used three of the four retiring colors on today’s card…make sure to grab the refills and extra cardstock before they officially retire and sell out! Flowing Flowers

I made this card for a good friend for her birthday last month! The Flowing Flowers stamp set makes it easy!

Stampin’ Details:

The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Magenta Madness cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
A 3-3/4 x 5 piece of Designer Paper was added to the background (this may be the retired Eden one, but you could use any of the leafy prints we currently have).
A 2-1/4 x 2-1/4 piece of Magenta Madness cardstock was cut with a flag end and added towards the bottom of the DSP.
The 3-1/2 x 4 piece of Basic White was stamped with the Happy Birthday greeting in Evening Evergreen Ink.
The flower was inked with sponge daubers and Magenta Madness, Evening Evergreen, and Crushed Curry Inks, then stamped on the Basic White panel.
It was layered on a 3-3/4 x 4-1/4 piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Some Soft Succulent In Color Jewels were added to the background.

SUPER simple, but a pretty card and I knew she loved flowers!
