CS166 – Polar Bear

Welcome to Create with Stamping Friends Creatively Simple Challenge!  Each month Debbie and I will pick a theme for our simple cards.  Our theme for November is Christmas!  Time to be thinking about what you will be making for Christmas cards and gifts!

POLAR BEAR using POTIONS & SPELLS DIES

This card has been done for several weeks, but I haven’t had a chance to share until now!  I’ve made a cute polar bear from the Potions & Spells cauldron die!  Can you see it?

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Pool Party cardstock was added on top.
  • Two 1-1/4 x 4 strips of Snowy Scenes Designer Paper were added to each side.
  • The greeting from Christmas Friends (perfect!) was stamped with Memento Black Ink towards the bottom.
  • The polar bear head is the cauldron from Potions & Spells Dies turned upside down and cut from Basic White cardstock.
  • The ears are medium bubbles cut from Basic White cardstock and inside ears are small bubbles cut from Petal Pink cardstock and the eyes small bubbles from Basic Black cardstock.
  • The cheeks were colored with Petal Pink Ink using a sponge dauber.
  • The muzzle is a 1-1/4″ Circle cut from Basic White and trimmed along the top.
  • The nose is the beaker liquid cut with the die from Basic Black cardstock.  It is popped up on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The scarf is 1/4 x 5 cut and trimmed and adhered to the bottom of the “top” of the cauldron.

Saturday Blog Hop – Casing Mary Brown 2023

It’s Saturday and time for our Create with Connie and Mary Blog Hop. For the next several weeks we will be “Casing the Designer”. Each week we have picked a designer and will select a card she designed. We will use the Colors and Layout of her design and recreate our version using stamps/bundles from the September-December Mini Catalog!

This week we are “Casing Mary Brown”!  Here’s her card that I chose from last year’s holiday catalog.

BEARY CUTE

And here’s how I updated her card using the new Beary Cute Bundle!

Stampin’ Details:

  • The base is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White c/s, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 1-1/4 x 5-1/2 strip of Night of Navy cardstock was added along the left side.
  • The 2-3/4 x 4-1/4 piece of Beary Christmas DSP was adhered on top.
  • A 1/4 x 5 strip of white Textured Shimmer Paper was added on the front.
  • The 2-3/4 x 3 piece of Basic White c/s was sponged along the bottom with Balmy Blue Ink using a Blending Brush.
  • The greeting was stamped with Night of Navy Ink along the bottom.
  • On Basic White c/s, the tree was stamped with Night of Navy Ink, the tree inside was stamped with Shaded Spruce Ink, and the hat and scarf were stamped with Balmy Blue Ink.  All were hand cut.
  • The bear was stamped with Night of Navy Ink on Basic White c/s and punched with the Beary Cute Punch.  All were added to the Basic White panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The panel was added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A trio of white Adhesive Backed Glitter Sequins were added to the tree and background.

Delicate Baubles Dies – Polar Bear

OK…having just TOO much fun to put down these Delicate Bauble Dies yet.  Next up is a cute and cuddly POLAR BEAR all dressed up for the holidays!

You can see my GNOME, SANTA, GINGERBREAD, ELF, PENGUIN, SNOWMAN, WITCH, MICKEY MOUSE,  DRACULA, RUDOLPH, GRINCH & MAX, NUTCRACKER, SCARECROW, SANTA AND MRS CLAUS , the BOY AND GIRL PILGRIMS, and the TURKEY by clicking on their name.

POLAR BEAR

  • The base of the card is 4-1/4 x 11 Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and folded.
  • A 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Pear Pizzazz is added on top.
  • Two 3/4 x 5-1/4 strips of Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper is added to each side.
  • The polar bear body is the Delicate Bauble Die cut from Basic White cardstock.
  • The stocking cap is the top portion of the Delicate Bauble Die cut from Heartwarming Hugs DSP and adhered.
  • The snout is the second from smallest Layering Circle Die cut from Basic White cardstock.  It is popped up on the Bauble with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The nose is the Double Oval Punch punched from Basic Black cardstock and trimmed.  It is popped up on the snout with Stampin’ Dimensional.
  • The eyes are 3/8″ Circles of Basic Black cardstock and the cheeks are 1/2″ circles of Blushing Bride cardstock.  All were added with Mini Glue Dots.
  • The scarf is hand-trimmed 3/8″ strips of Heartwarming Hugs DSP and adhered around the neck.
  • The polar bear was added to the front of the base card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Season’s Greetings from Penguin Place stamp set was stamped with Real Red Ink on Basic White cardstock and punched with the Double Oval Punch, then added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Two Red Rhinestones were added to each side of the greeting.
  • The White Chalk Marker added highlights to his eyes and nose.

Week 3: White Christmas with Aurora Lights

We are just finishing up Week 3 on our Create with Connie and Mary Holiday Collection 2014!  We are doing four weeks of holiday and winter projects for home decor and gift giving! I’ve been wanting to use this White Christmas stamp set and do some aurora lights in the background.  It is on my bucket list to see the lights up close and personal one day.  I did see them when I was younger from a far distance, but I want to be CLOSE!

 

White Christmas

Here are the details:

  • The base is 5 x 10, folded in half to make a 5×5 square card.
  • I cut a 4 x 4 3/4 layer of Pool Party cardstock, and layered a 1 3/4 x 4 3/4 piece of All is Calm Designer Paper along the left side.  I used the Silver 1/8″ Ribbon to hide the seam and wrapped it around the back to adhere.
  • On a 4×4 piece of Whisper White, I stamped the trees with Early Espresso Ink, then filled them in with the Early Espresso Marker.
  • I stamped the trees again on scrap copy paper and cut a mask to lay over the snowy ground.  Then I sponged Blushing Bride, Pool Party and Island Indigo Inks above the snow line.
  • I stamped the snowflakes with White Craft Ink all over the sponged area.
  • The polar bear was stamped with Tuxedo Black on scrap Whisper White and cut out.  I added a little Pool Party Marker to him for shadows and placed him on the snow.  I added the star with Tuxedo Black and colored with the Gold Marker.
  • Thinking of You at Christmas was stamped with Island Indigo in the upper right corner.
  • I layered the stamped Whisper White on a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 piece of Island Indigo cardstock and added to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Finally, I added a Blushing Bride Button tied with White Bakers Twine to the upper left side.

I LOVE how this turned out!  Hope you like it, too!

Day 1 PREVIEW: Bearing Gifts

I just ordered this single stamp, Bearing Gifts, and decided to ink it up right away in celebration of Introduction Day!  I love playing with my Blendabilities…and this was fun to color!  I also LOVE that stripe in the Nordic Noel Designer Paper!

 

Bearing Gifts

Here are the details:

  • The base is 4 1/4 x 11 Whisper White, folded in half.
  • I embossed half of the 4 x 5 1/4 layer of Real Red with the Lucky Stars Folder.
  • I added a 1 1/4 x 5 1/4 piece of Nordic Noel Designer Paper along the right side.  To hide the seam, I used a 1/2 x 5 1/4 strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper!  So sparkly!
  • I cut the Party Pennant from Whisper White and stamped the Bearing Gifts image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on it.  I used my Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Coastal Cabana and Crumb Cake Blendabilities Markers to color in the kids.  I also outlined the bear lightly with a Soft Sky Stampin’ Write Marker for some dimension.  I added the pennant to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I saved the greeting for the inside, so used Merry & Bright from the hostess set, Good Greetings that is available now.  It was stamped with Real Red ink on scrap Whisper White and cut with a flag end.
